The “brush bass” technique was introduced into country music by bass player Ernie Newton during the immediate post war period when he was a member of singer Red Foley’s “Foggy River Boys”. Newton was a talented all round musician / songwriter who was a prolific Nashville session man and can be heard on the recordings of numerous 1950’s Country music icons such as Hank Williams, Bill Monroe, Webb Pierce, Chet Atkins, The Stanley Brothers, Hank Snow, Kitty Wells and Porter Wagoner.
As a bassist, I'm so proud of Francesca popularity increasing ! She is a natural bass player, so talented and committed, but still keeping nice low profile !
Molto Interessante...Un Grande Abbraccio Per Francesca....Brava..
Fantastic Francesca!!! The knowledge, the feel, the power of her play! She is TOP!
Brava Francesca, e bravo Paolo Roberto 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yeah, thanks for that. It is very nice to see something different from jazz or classical music.
I'm soo happy to see Francesca and Lovesick duo on this channel!
You're doing an amazing job showing us in depth all the colours of the bass world! Thank you
Always a thrill to see Francesca and Paolo on UA-cam. From the instruments to the gear to the clothing to the vocals.....100% authentic !!!! Great interview, as well !!!!
Greetings from Athens Georgia USA !!!!
✌ ❤ & 🎸
@@DiscoverDoubleBassJeff should have go to Memphis, Tennessee to see the Staxs Record studio. Otis Redding recorded there and many artists . Hitsville in Detroit, the old Motown studio. See both studios, Donald " Duck 🦆" Dunn record at Staxs in Memphis and Jameson at Hitsville in Detroit. I was influenced by these guys, on Electric Bass. Ray Brown on the Double Upright Bass!!
They are in heaven now as Gods should be!!
This is one of the very best interviews on how an artist plays her instrument that I have ever heard. I play a little guitar and never really thought too much of the bass. Francesca has instilled a new respect for the instrument, particularly the double bass in me❤. The two songs with the Lovesick Duo were just outstanding! 😻
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that and it's great you enjoyed it. Francesca and Paolo are the best. :-)
@@DiscoverDoubleBass Sure, you bet! I'm certain Francesca will inspire many people, especially women, to take up the bass. 👍👍👍
Terrific artist. Her virtuosity is exceptional and her joy as a performer is infectious!
❤Francesca!!
One of the best videos I have had the pleasure of watching. Many thanks. The interviewing is skilful and sympathetic. As for Francesca, I have admired her work since coming across it about four years ago; but it's a joy to learn from this video of her enthusiasm and dedication and also that she is so frank and willing to share her discoveries and techniques.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate your kind words and it's great to hear you enjoyed the video. :-)
One of my most FAVOURITE BANDS IN THE WORLD.....AWESOME!

Great video. Loved it! More please! And maybe a US tour?
I really loved this. Francesca is so sweet and so beautiful in her pink dress. I love watching her and Paolo play.

Bravissima, come sempre. Bello l’accenno allo studio permanente. Non di finisce mai di imparare e di evolversi. Sempre in gamba!
Bravissima, as always. The mention of permanent study is important. You never stop learning and evolving. Stay creative!
Wow!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Mama Mia! Wow!
Wow. Her English is not so good, but I can tell she is brilliant in her approach to both supporting and playing lead. She’s pretty much my favorite bass player in the genre, along with whoever is in the Hotclub of Cowtown. ❤ She’s got impeccable timing and mad overall skills.
Interesting! I've got that exact bass model in blonde (4/4) without the brush pad. I can slap, but not as fast as Franscesca (and my main style of playing is jazz anyways).
❤🧹🎶
ASs an upright electricist/drummer, composer and flutist saxist, this Great Artist Inspires me in my AfroCuboCanadian jazSka Raunchabilly artist, all i can say Than You For Such an Inspiring Artist! in the early 90'z, i received an e-upright Zeta, as an endorsement. it's taken my 4 decades to get it to sound like an acoustic double /upright. i also play slapabilly on my cello. cheers from SpoCanada, in the soon to be; U$$@
She is such a wonderful musician. Her smile lights up the stage!
