ScorpioNick Most scam baiters don't want to think the way you would like to think about Miss Abhi. I think humanizing the scammers makes some baiters uneasy. I respect that you can maintain civility and even hope for their better nature.
Just my opinion, but I have a feeling most scambaiters haven't lived in and experienced a 3rd world country for themselves. Not that I've done it _too_ rough myself, but I've seen what people are willing to do just to survive. They are people, and ignoring that fact is ignoring a part of the truth we're dealing with here. It's too easy for us to just call them the scum of the world while we have options they don't. So I have a serious distaste for what they _do_ ...but anyone's capable of almost anything when their survival's at stake. Acting high and mighty is an unattractive feature we humans display at times.

Yep, that's partially the point. But what I said about these places calling the same person many times was true. Some have reported being called 10 times a day for _weeks_ by these folk. Not _her_ specifically, but it's the line of work she's in.

I don't quite remember all the details of this call, but she really didn't appreciate it. And I just got off the phone with the same company asking for her, apparently her shift is earlier (not sure whether to believe that). Still no email from her either. She's playing hard to get.

I appreciate that, but I can't guarantee that I'll get through to her again. I did record the call where I asked for her, but it's just me talking to the guy who answered, saying I need her because she's familiar with my case. I'll definitely be trying her again just because she's almost become a part of the channel as a character! Some of the scammers actually ask about the UA-cam channel and subscribe! I'd love to add her, see if she can enjoy the fun with the rest of us, and realise I'm not actually obsessed with her.

I think it's the same person but she was probably in trouble after the first call. Now she's just staying on point and has to close the deal or move on to get her "numbers" up. They don't treat employees the same in every country.
Yep, I also should have maybe called her out on her "doing business" talk. Tech support shouldn't be thought of as a 'business deal' and only makes her look worse to any potential victims who are just hoping to get their computer issues resolved.

Judging by her behaviour, she kept playing hard 2 get and pretended 2 be intrested in the 1st video, and was clearly annoyed and relieved 2 get off the phone.
The 2nd call quickly showed her barely remembering your email and thumbling in remembering it. It doesn't take a genius 2 figure out she was obviously not happy 2 be talking with you, evident from her getting straight 2 the point with the payment just like the 1st video. Afterwards, any attempts 2 derail the conversation elsewhere were met with rejection and/or hostilities. You can tell she wants 2 get paid and did not care at any point about your flirting, otherwise she would have gotten back 2 you. She literally forced a smile just get your info.
First video, she (and most of them) will do whatever they think will secure a 'sale'. Second one, she'd remembered me and for some reason still thought to get money. Hell, if she wanted to get off the phone, why not just hang up? And of course she wasn't happy, she knows I'm not the run of the mill victim she's hoping for. Her hoping to get any real information from me would just paint her the charlatan she was and is.
Literal smile... I doubt it. A figurative one at first maybe.
Obviously she didn't hung up 4 2 reasons:
1. Pressure from management. It's obvious she was just trying 2 bruteforce creditencials.
2. She was trying 2 possible revenue as if she hadn't, it could be viewed badly by possibly nearby supervisors, thus being badmouthed more by her superiors or getting fired from her "job".
She may have been more naive the 1st time around, but someone had obviously scolded her Afterwards as she was very pissed off at you most likely cause of this, which becomes more evident throughout the call until she lost her shit.

Computers do a better job of it. You need to strip down the URL so the end section is not there, then find the comment you want to reply to. It can be frustrating with so many to search through.

You can tell that she only cares about you when she thinks you're going to make the payment. Highly likely that she has a quota that she needs to meet and is probably why she is upset when she realizes she's wasted time, just like the last video. You should've offered bitcoin as a payment.

I couldn't listen to this pay the first few minutes. I felt too bad for her. I imagine the fact you asked for her by name drew a lot of unwanted attention. They would probably explain why she was so cold to you. That's why you should never flirt with someone in the service industry while they are working. They have to talk to you and be nice to you. That doesn't mean they want to.

I could hear the emotion in your voice towards the end of this video and it really struck me that you do these scambait videos not just for a cheap laugh, but because you care not just for the people being scammed, but for the scammers desensitizing themselves to the crimes they are committing and for that I want to thank you.
Yes, it's not so much the people, but what they're involved in which I took issue with. Some of them seemed to genuinely believe that they were doing legitimate work, which is sad as they themselves have been conned. The ones I got more upset with were those who were fully aware of what they were doing and thought it a grand accomplishment. I think the majority of them knew, but were in denial.

I've had a few similar conversations when business is slow. I usually ask "what does your mother think about the way you earn a living?". One young woman actually seemed affected by that question. But most of the time they just hang up after a few choice 4-letter words.
Interesting. Yes it depends on the personality you're addressing. Some will fold a bit, others will be offended because you've hit home - and strike out like that. Even among the males we've that spectrum (actually there's probably more variation in the males).

I don't know what you think you might be able to to "help" Abhi but it stopped being entertaining towards the end and started sounding a bit pleading and awkward. Should you get involved in her life ? Personally I don't think so. She is cleverer and harder than you first thought 😎.

Ok just called that number, and apparently their "billing" and tech Team is not available...so not 24/7 tech then, they said phone back in 4 hours when they are open.. and they only deal with existing customers until the billing team returns.. ;)

last time i tried they put hold music then the line went dead..at least this time i got a "human", i have an idea i am on a laptop and i cannot connect to the internet.. so will go through all the they will send me to check router,. and so on.. will waste their time.. then say well afraid my battery on my laptop is running out.. we had a power cut and using the battery .. see what happens LOL

No idea, it might vary from company to company. Likely _some_ percentage as a commission but I don't know how much. I've been told they make on average USD$2000 per month, just as a rough figure.
According to the interwebz, a United Nations International Labour Organization report of 2012 stated that the average monthly wage in India was the equivalent of $US295. Judged against any reasonably imaginable increase in the Indian average wage since then, if what you were told is in the right ballpark, then our scammers aren't likely to be in that business just because it's the only reasonable job that they could obtain. Instead, they're knowingly playing in a game with high rewards in return for high risk (criminal conviction).
This is exactly what I believe, and the main reason they do it. It's too attractive by comparison to a legitimate job. Now that I've seen myself put those words in, I feel somewhat silly having said to her "I know you don't have a lot of options". Possibly some of them are gullible enough to believe that simply because they're being paid that much to ostensibly work on computers, it's a really good job. But surely most of them realise that performing a routine series of actions couldn't warrant such a pay rise over a regular job. Thanks for that; I may use it as an angle to confront them with if given the chance to say it. Usually they go into 'overspeak' mode though.
