Your experience when you were 19 years old, getting turned away from applying to the fire department was heartfelt to me. Going through yet another drought year of unemployment in Cali in the early 90’s, IOUE local 12, I had to move back home to live with mom. Like you, I was athletically fit. Saw a billboard LAPD hiring. 🤔 They took my application, and came in for a written test. Afterwards, I was told that my English wasn’t up to par. There was a table full of black males who I overheard yak’n, not being able to understand ebonics myself, I watched stunned, as they all walked through the door to oral phase room. So I proceeded to take some more college courses to try becoming a nurse. I took a college English 101, and received an ‘A.’ BTW, when class began, it was standing room only. Also, I found out when applying for classes that being black, Asian, Pacific Islander, or whatever else would get precedence over me, da white dude. Anyway, thanks Adam Corolla. I’m your most recent subscriber.

I’m not sure. These California fires seem to discriminate against the poor. It’s always the houses by the beach or other upper class areas. Must be a Bernie fire that hates wealthy people.
I don’t think so. California fires seem to have a problem with wealthy people living by the beach and in the hills. Even tornadoes seem to have issues with poor people in trailer parks. Mother nature is clearly bigoted and that’s a shame.
First time I've ever watched or heard of Adam Corolla.... Excellent presentation of what's really going on.... humor was great .. overview was well worth listening to.
The Coastal Commission could turn on the political pressure combined with Big Money interests. It is interesting to consider how the COMMISSION will decide on the environmental Malibu beachfronts rebuilds.

I evacuated Van Nuys. That was in 1997. After the insurance commissioner intruded in my personal relationship with my insurance company after the Northridge quake. He made me a socialist without my permission. So I evacuated the state. CA, like any other place, gets the government it deserves. And the people in Malibu are getting it good and hard right now. I am hoping FEMA will be there to help all the people affected by the fire.. Just like they helped the people in NC and HI. Just write them a check for $700, hold a press conference in DC, call it good.

May God bless you Adam after this terrible fire. From Texas, I am so sad about these latest horrible fires and all the folks losing their homes. I can relate to the losses and the whole insurance deal is ridiculous. You should be able to insure against fire and not be dropped once fire season starts.

That video of the destroyed multi million dollar homes was unbelievable. I also love your analogy of "unhoused" people. So true. Good to see you Adam and I'm glad you're safe.
Actually, that's so _not_ true about all homeless people. I know this because I was homeless. Adam doesn't know what the fu(k he's talking about. He may have been able to say that twenty or more years ago, and even then, it would still be BS concerning some people. But today? It's as though people like you and Adam haven't been paying attention to what's been going on in our country for the past 20 years; especially the past 10 years.
@@Silence_Duder_GooderHe lives in a bubble filled with millionaires. He only sees the junkies, who are the most visible homeless people. He ignores all the seniors who can no longer afford housing and the people with full-time jobs who live in vehicles because jobs don't pay a living wage anymore.
@@Primalxbeast, I was in a shelter that held around 600 people, and at least a third of us had full-time jobs. And you're correct about the visibility factor and people like Adam; it's what they see on Front Street, but they never actually go heavy into those areas of town and talk to other homeless people.
@Silence_Duder_Gooder Wow, that's a huge shelter. I live on disability, and I'm lucky that I have a car because it definitely doesn't pay enough to be able live in sticks and bricks. I also live in Florida, and while the police here will tolerate me living in my car with no criminal history, I don't think they would tolerate the open criminal behavior that is allowed in California. It helps when you have laws that will keep some of the actual trouble causers behind bars for a while.
@@Primalxbeast, I was in Salt Lake City at the time, and that was a brand-new facility. And sure, it was nice on both the inside and outside, but the inmates were basically allowed to run the asylum, and some of the staff ripped off us "clients." I used to live in Florida, in both Ft. Liquordale and Clearwater, Pinellas Park areas. This was back in '87 through '91. Yeah, you can live out here in California in a car if you're crafty. I did it a while back while surviving in northern Orange County. I worked day labor for day pay, then drove over to my local city college, paid a buck to park, then walked into the facility and found the showers. I then went over to _Barnes & Nobles_ and read for a few hours on their soft couches and then parked at either an underground parking garage or the parking lot at the emergency room area of a hospital. Then I'd get up at 4 AM and do it all over again. 🤪

I can’t believe some of you people have no sympathy for these people who lost their homes, possessions, and security! It’s all relative anyway, there are people that would think our homes our palaces to them. Jealous and no sympathy to our fellow Americans! Shame on you!!
Listening to you for basically 30 years of my life and you have always been spot on. From the late nights in my patrol car to now here on my tablet. Thank you for sharing your enlightening spirit. I also got a delayed entry into the police academy many years back because they were trying to reach a quota. Hoping for many blessings to find you and those who are dealing with this tragedy. Was such a beautiful area. Sad.
The homeless problem here in San Diego is ridiculous. We’re a city that is supposedly a model for helping house the homeless. What’s really happening is low income people who legitimately need help are shoved aside to give “the homeless “ expedited housing. They are NOT required to get or be clean or sober.
Exactly. I applied almost 10 years ago. They told me when I applied the wait list is 10 years. I called to check on my application a couple months ago and now I'm told the wait is 15 years. I''m 73 y/o. I'll die before I get any assistance. California is a hopeless cause
The problem is, he’d be stuck fixing decades of mismanagement and undoing bs policies. And while that would be productive, LA and California brought some turrible stuffz on themselves by who they love to vote for.

Also learning a lot about what those that want to rebuild in Malibu are up against. Thanks Adam! God bless you!
They aren't multimillionaires with countless multimillionaire friends. A larger and larger percentage of homeless people are seniors and disabled people who can't afford rent on social security. Do you think it's funny to make fun of elderly people who don't have a network because many of the people they knew have already died, or are having problems making ends meet themselves? The junkies may be the most visible homeless people, but there are plenty of homeless people who do have income, but not enough to pay the crazy prices for rent these days. There are people working full-time jobs who live in vehicles because of the lack of affordable housing. This man obviously has no empathy for people who weren't as lucky as him in life, so nobody should have any for him if his home is destroyed.

Always been a fan of Adam's rants and logic from the Love Line days. Haven't kept up with his content in a while, but when PBD mentioned him talking about this situation I immediately knew this was gonna be epic. Who better to articulate all this than a lifelong Californian / former carpenter / grounded pragmatist. Ace Man's still got it!
Love his talk about women wearing pyjamas bottoms. When I was young my Dad hated when he saw women with curlers in their hair while they went shopping. He thought it would be like having shaving cream on his face in the store. I like to dress reasonably proper when I go out; some level of decorum.
There was always something jarring about seeing women with curlers in public when I was a child, but seeing women with stupidity stains (tacky tatt-me-toos) is even more alienating.
Been watching forever and I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we hope things get better. I lived through my house burning down as a kid and it sucks. Best wishes Aceman.
Thank Adam. I don't watch the news. Your firsthand account pretty much provided all the essentials to understand what is going on. Hoping your condo escaped any damage.
Happy you are safe, Adam. I only know you from Gutfeld. We live in an area with underground utilities (not in CA) but we get screwed anytime there is a tornado because we are fed by the bigger power lines that go down outside the hood, even though not hit by the tornado. We are waiting on Generac. We signed a contract 5 months ago, they are that backed up. 5 years in a row we had to throw out everything from the fridge and freezer because we were out for a week. They always fix us last. (You can guess why.). I hope your home is still there, much worse issue than anything we have ever faced. I feel horrible for everyone. Love Steve!
Adam was the first person I thought about when heard about the fires. Grateful to hear a sensible assessment of what is happening from the Ace Man as well! Take care bud.
Thanks for reaching out Adam. Regarding the power poles, in my 50s I've lived in coastal south Mississippi my entire life and every 30 to 40 years we get a whopper hurricane that takes down the power poles en masse. The city I live in has two large neighborhoods with buried power and they always get powered up way before us heathens with the old creosote power poles. Makes no sense to me because our big expensive homes on the beach are Pole power and the buried power is for 1970's Brady Bunch neighborhoods 2 miles away from the Gulf. Love your show everyday, MAHALLA

I'm a chick so I'm about to go Furiosa in terms of working out. I really needed all my strength to pick up my dogs and run out of my house. In 1970, I moved to the Angeles Forest in Southern California. The forest rangers were the "good old boys" who practiced brush clearance and fire prevention. They had controlled burns, allowed commercial fire wood companies and the public to cut dead wood for firewood and practiced brush clearance. They kept the fuel source down and the result was the normal fires that happened every year were easily contained. Then along came the environmentalists to the forest service. They believed that the forests should remain natural and the least amount of humans should be allowed in their forests. The result is large amounts of fuel sources that allow fires to rage out of control. ENVIRONMENTAL POLICIES AND MISMANAGEMENT ARE THE CAUSE OF FIRES RAGING OUT OF CONTROL, NOT CLIMATE CHANGE
Well that … and these particular fires are planned events. They needed to efficiently clear the land for the 2028 Olympics and 15-minute cities. They are about to get boo coo dollars from the feds. This is land clearing and a heist. And people don’t know that because they don’t pay attention.

First time watcher. If you're always this entertaining, new fan here. 100% what everyone else agrees.
He’s got great points and knows how to complain. The only bad thing is when he complains about the same thing for the nth time
You should look up old Loveline episodes from the late 90s and early 2000s. He was in peak form
You should check out his past radio shows with Dr. Drew. I'm sure they're on UA-cam. It's from about 30 years ago when he was just starting out.
First time here too .pretty cool never seen Adam so I guess not sure pissed 100percent .or only when he speaks .he's dead on about the homeless .and everybody ftom those fires ain't sleeping on a park bence
Are you a nurse now?

Made me smile when you talked about people getting up early and swimming. Im 61 and wont retire for four years. I get up before 5, have breakfast, then swim lengths from 6 to 7. Swimmers are awesome! Love your podcast. Glad Canada can do something for LA by providing our planes. I can't imagine the devastation.
This is the most diverse, equitable, and inclusive fire in LA’s history.
Community safety out the window.
😂😂
We have to be inclusive, that includes fire.
First time I've ever watched or heard of Adam Corolla.... Excellent presentation of what's really going on.... humor was great .. overview was well worth listening to.
They're doing to this part of California EXACTLY what they did to Lahaina in Hawaii. Everyone should look into the "Wildlands Project"
I work in Malibu..... Adam is spot on about the permits/ Coastal Commission and everything else.... I see it w my own eyes.....
The Coastal Commission could turn on the political pressure combined with Big Money interests. It is interesting to consider how the COMMISSION will decide on the environmental Malibu beachfronts rebuilds.
Even alone in a hotel room, talking about his experience in hellscape California and dealing with the wildfires, Adam Carolla is still more entertaining than 99% of what's out there! Godspeed and stay safe, Ace!

And sure, it was nice on both the inside and outside, but the inmates were basically allowed to run the asylum, and some of the staff ripped off us "clients."
I used to live in Florida, in both Ft.

That rant was gold.
NEVER thought of the homeless that way.
"They don't have a network."
Wow. Damn Adam.

The public curlers to tattoos pipeline closely tracks with the decline of Western womanhood.
