While hearing that it has more teen drama from season 1 is concerning, I personally still want to go into this season with an open mind. As long as things like the adaptations (as loose as they may be) and the overarching mystery are solid, I can look past the teen drama and still will probably enjoy the show. We’ll just have to wait and see. It’s weird, though, that the Rotten Tomatoes episode listings say “The Boy Who Cried Monster” and “The Girl Next Door”. I don’t know if whoever added those episode titles just screwed up the names or if those are the actual episode names. It just confuses me why they wouldn’t just directly name the episodes after the book they’re based on like with “The Haunted Car” or “Monster Blood”
Man, excellent video-you and BD killed it on this subject. After reading that article you sent me, the other day, I’m glad I know ahead of time to just go ahead and not even be excited for this garbage show lol. I already wasn’t excited for it, but this killed any corner of hope I had in me lol. Disney sucks so bad, and no one can write Goosebumps but Stine, at this point. If Disney had a brain, they would’ve reached-out to all of us in the community that have channels and discussed it with us, or maybe even hired us-people who are firmly fans, making no money, in the community. The amount of bots sent to my channel and others proved the point that Disney were watching all of us, to gauge fan reaction, and then sent bots for the defense, just like they did with the Last Jedi fans. With all that being said, I’m going to try to review the whole show, but I’m having the feeling I’ll struggle through the whole thing, because teens aren’t even the original, intended audience, and teen drama isn’t Goosebumps, nor should it ever be. God bless, man! Keep up the great work!
Teen drama being there kinda kills my interest. And I’m quite tired of bleak teenage drama affairs. However, I respect anyone who finds enjoyment from it. It’ll just be a little harder for me.
Yeah man, Goosebumps is a children's horror series, not a teen drama,it's supposed to be kid friendly/tween/preteen friendly, because all children 7-12 read Goosebumps and it's released by Disney.
Yeah,Goosebumps shouldn't be a teen drama,Goosebumps is a children's horror series,so it should be more kid friendly,as all kids read Goosebumps and Goosebumps should be more than a 90's fad,it should be something timeless as it's children's horror done right, children's horror should be a proper subgenre of horror,i mean if cartoons aren't just for kids anymore, horror can't be just for adults anymore and that's what Goosebumps was made for,a horror series for children. Anyway,I'm currently working on a Goosebumps fan series rught here on UA-cam,that's more kid friendly than the Disney Plus series, however,it'll still be good enough for a lot of 90's kids who loved Goosebumps, now in their 30's to 40's,to enjoy,as it'll be scarier than the two Goosebumps movies and it'll have nostalgia, awhile also having some comedy here and there for the kids, some silly slapstick and a cheesy, campy vibe,so it'll be actually kid friendly and feel like the Goosebumps we grew up with, appealing to both 90's kids who are adults now and kids of Generation Alpha, making actually good and watchable and not brain rot like what you would normally see on UA-cam Kids.
Wasn't a fan of season 1 at all. Still gonna go into season 2 with open mind but i swear if its more teen drama over an actual story then i stg. Also actually have a proper ending. Cant believe season 2 went on for 2 more episodes after the Harold arc was completely wrapped up. Just baffling structure
Guys, just give it a chance. I don't have Disney Plus at the moment, so I will be avoiding spoilers as much as I can. I'm fine with them "aging it up" kids look up towards their teenage brothers, sisters ect. When you where 12 you probably wanted to be seen as older, and tried to be knowledgeable about whatever the teens at the time where into. Plus, R.L. Stine approves of aging up the characters. And he still wants Brain Juice from Series 2000 to be adapted, yet recognizes that it probably wouldn't work. I think David Schwimmer is into playing the Dad from Stay Out of The Basement, I suspect they will still use Book titles as episode titles. Though eventually they would run out of book titles. Isn't this what the fans wanted? All I heard when the first movie came out, with Jack Black was "it's fine. But I wish it wasnt so focused on the comedy, you know? We want Goosebumps to be made darker." So...they write you a darker Goosebumps property, age it up so it can be darker, a bit more risky, Have some balance, ebb and flow. Is this more Fear Street Light than 90s Goosebumps Adam West Batman '66 camp? Sure, and I agree Season 1 really should have ended at Episode 8. Intrigue only works with some resemblance of normal. Need a default baises. My long ranting aside, great video Completionist!
I think the main criticism about the movies were that they leaned more into being a hodge podge monster mash flick with humor than leaning on the horror that was prevalent in the books. Goosebumps is and always has been gateway horror, for kids. Fans felt a disconnect with it from the movies more so in that way, not saying they still didn’t enjoy aspects of it or full on love it. I’m in the same process of thought with the show, but I also think marketing Goosebumps to adults essentially with a show and not necessarily kids who is really, in my opinion, the real target demographic you should be aiming for, is its own thing I think getting in the way - of this show. I don’t think fans of the show see the flipside to the coin, as it’s easy to compare the gripes of the movies to it and say “see they delivered what you asked for”. But that’s kind of a half truth. The 90’s show killed villains, had touchy subject matter, had dark implications and whatnot. It wasn’t gory or anything but gory doesn’t equal more mature by any means. If we are on subject matter, I guess adultery/sex/overt physical violence/use of guns etc classifies as that. What makes a show scary for kids is building tension and suspense, not just putting in scenes for shock value. I’m not doubting the new show can be scary at times, but it lacks the connection some people felt with the books. At least in the first season, the first four episodes attempted to dive into kind of how a goosebumps book operates. But it evolved into a Goonies type thing. Not dissing Goonies, but that’s not what Goosebumps was or really is. And I do see the appeal of doing something new with Goosebumps, and making a Goonies version of Goosebumps is appealing to me, if there is an appeal to kids at the end of the day. I’m speaking on how I feel about that, but at least the movies kept that lane and compared to this show, has more of my heartstrings there. As much as I want adult horror content aimed at me, a full grown adult, there’s PLENTY of existing content that already facilitates that. Bring back kids horror - that’s my movement in all of this. YA deserves its own place but there’s plenty of other IPs that could suit that, and already kind of do. If this show exists purely on nostalgia - bring the nostalgia. If it’s a show being made to modernize it and bring in a whole new generation - make that, but keep the spirit of it alive. In my opinion, I don’t think the show, nor the movies really knew which ones to pick from from those two things mentioned above. That’s just my opinion, but that’s my two cents… I don’t think everyone’s gonna come to an agreement on how the new show handles the source material though. But I’m gonna say, if you like the show, keep liking and supporting it, help it continue. Thanks for commenting Ryan (I think that’s your name I remember you PFP). I’m gonna watch the show and keep an open mind, but like I said in the video, my excitement is… well you can guess why lol.
@@goosebumpscompletionist7709 I also agree with your point of The Rule of 2 and both movies and season 1 of this drama? Show? Whatever, it is, being a potential IP killer. Hopefully if they do get green lit for season 3, things pick up. If season 2 here gets lukewarm reactions.
In all honesty, I don't think a mature Goosebumps series doesn't really work out for an older audience. If they really wanna do an anthology horror series for teens. Why not just use a different name for it? If the show ends after two seasons then it won't be surprised. Or they could have at least adapted Stine former books that aim for teens into a series instead of using Goosebumps. Overall, I think we need a faithful adaptation of Goosebumps. Then again, I think it is better off through the books rather than going into Hollywood territory again...
I just really hope they focus on the damage misogyny and white supremacy does to society. The first season touched on it a little but I think this season should more. If not I probably won’t watch it as it won’t feel like Goosebumps…

0:51 I hope not. I really liked season 1.
Saying it is doomed on arrival can certainly make it worse than if you call it… WILL BEE ANY BETTER/Improvement…………..😩
