My dad is part of the 4-5 man team taking down the Tarzan tree. The scheduled end that they’re looking for is Friday, but it may go a little into next week. IMPORTANT: Everything that’s in that area with walls up is looking to come down around the same time or even same day. (Restaurants, Tarzan stump, pirates ride) unclear if they’ll be open but they should have the walls down So far, he’s seen lights, pyro, sound and music test as well as the dragon for fantasmic. (And also the jungle cruise elephant that sits and shoots water, looks like they cleaned him) Fingers crossed that he can take the Tarzan treehouse sign at the entrance. No one else that’s taking it down really go to Disneyland and they haven’t been told no by officials to take anything home.
I was a fan of the Disney Dollars. I used them as a teen every time I went, just for fun. As a parent, I think it would be awesome to give your kids while visiting the park so they have the fun experience and budget their souvenirs and treats. Yeah, bring em back!
I completely agree that Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland desperately needs to get out of the sequel trilogy timeline, especially since there is no Galactic Starcruiser at that park.
It makes a huge difference to have a multiverse in Avengers Campus compared to a prequel trilogy in Galaxy's Edge. Consider also the nature of the characters, heroes vs primarily villains. Kylo Ren and the first order rarely stop for photos, they certainly don't interact in the way other characters do. I haven't seen Vi with Rey and Chewie, so I'm wondering if Disney scrapped her character due to a lack of interaction or familiarity. Meanwhile, we got Moon Knight Marc and Moon Knight Steven, America Chavez, Scarlet Witch (Wanda), and Ant-Man now carries around a PYM-preserved Bugs Land...which is brilliant. Yes, Avengers Campus is small, but the characters available the day of a premiere is a huge deal.
No, Ronny, Walter Knotts was the first to do a theme park. Walt Disney was the second. Even if you don't count it till it had rides, the Calico Railroad opened in 1952.
I adore the way Galaxy’s Edge is far away, it’s such a great getaway, within my favorite getaway on earth. And but yes they need more draw for most folks for absolutely sure.
The Galaxy's Edge stuntshow was put behind an extra paywall and made exclusive to the star cruise. Unfortunately like most things promised for Galaxy's Edge.
I kind of like the Galaxy's Edge immersive theming idea. And I understand them using the era of the movies that were current, and had their own stamp on it. If it had just been a year and a half later though, it would have been Mando themed and way more adaptable.
My #1 Disneyland smell, of course, is Pirates. But my #2??? I love the smell of tomorrowland. I think it's mostly Galactic Grill. That theme park burger smell and whatever else. It takes me back to the 80s and 90s when I was a teen in the park and lived in Tomorrowland. I can see the skyway and peoplemover once I smell it.
Great video fellas!! We recently did a discussion on this topic the other day on my channel as well, there is just so much there to chew on. It's wild just how polar opposite these lands are. Keep up the amazing work guys!!
Hi! New to the channel so I'm catching up......regarding Galaxy's Edge, I have always said they should have gutted the submarines, autopia, star wars launch bay and etc to be star wars land. I hate the disconnect of galaxy's edge and star tours
The fact that Disney thinks my immersion will be broken if I were to see Darth Vader in one part of Galaxy’s Edge and then Kylo Ren in another is hilarious. Character interactions are my favorite part of Disney. I want to meet Mando in the parks and Ahsoka and young Han Solo. I don’t care what time period it’s supposed to be. But they aren’t even utilizing the characters from the time period they’ve set it in! You think I wouldn’t stand in line to meet Poe Dameron? Because I 100% would.
The smell of burnt rubber/asphalt always meant Disneyland to me. Traveling in from Palmdale where I grew up, we had to take the 14 FWY into the valley and that smell always hit us when we had the car windows down.
i can't believe Ronn spent that much time on a path between Toon Town and Galaxy's Edge. i just watched an old contruction video where David showed such a path would have to go under backstage area.
That they haven't found a way to put Baby Yoda/Grogu as a character in the park indicates they are not focused on advancing Galaxy's Edge. Arguably a character, with Mando, that is the most popular in SW at the moment and that launched Disney+ success.
Galaxy's Edge has to drop the time period rule. Placing Galaxy's Edge in the worst time period in star wars history is keeping all of the best characters out of Galaxy's Edge.
Between ToonTown and Galaxy's Edge, there is a stretch of dirt and trees that goes along the train track between Go-Go Gadget Coaster and First Order Cargo. Now, as any of the other "ridiculous, no way, they're not gonna do it" suggestions, they COULD make a tunnel going around or behind Go-Go Gadget Coaster and reconfigure the First Order Cargo store so it surrounds the new entrance to Galaxy's Edge. They COULD (use your most incredulous voice saying that word) do it. . . .
What if they did a compromise with Galaxy's Edge. Monday-Tuesday it's in the prequel timeline, Wednesday-Thursday Sequel Timeline and Friday-Sunday Original timeline. Rise would have to be the only exception to everything (I think they could easily switch out the story in Smuggler's Run consistently) but other than that I think this would make everyone happy.
Thank you David and Ron for another great episode Really think you guys hit the name on the head on this point, the lack live entertainment especially the popular original trilogy characters really is THE contributing factor to the lack of crowds in GE. If Disney was willing to go purely with any SW characters from all time lines then it would draw a huge crowd. Let’s be honest, GE is better themed and hands down a much better immersive experience than AC. Although it may be a point of contention for some my family and I find the strong Mediterranean and Asian flavors of the foods at GE a breath of fresh air. AC in comparison is live entertainment central with the Spider-man, Dr Strange, and Black Panther shows drawings crowds coupled with the fact that the characters have weekly D+ tie ins that make AC a must visit for many. Hopefully Disney Corp will take some of your guy’s observation to heart and address GE’s issues with tie ins to Mandalorian or Clone Wars to draw fans in if they are only interested in pushing current IPs.
Speaking about the earnings call and projected revenue in the 3rd and 4th quarter - back in late 2019 I was one of those D23 members that bought the 3-year discounted subscription to Disney+. I haven’t had to pay for Disney+ in 3-years but that is coming to an end this fall. I would guess there are many like me that will have to start paying so there should be an influx of money due to prepaid subscriptions ending.
Even though my wife and I are Star Wars fans we have only been in Galaxy’s Edge a few times and haven’t been there since the park reopened. We’re more fans of the original movies than the newer ones. We fully agree that the land would be much more inviting if they forger the timeline. The only reason we go into Avenger’s Campus when we’re going from Car’s Land to Hollywood Blvd. Neither one has anything we’re interested in. We’re not into Marvel at all.
Maybe galaxy edge could time slot different time lines ( for four hour shifts )so that they didn’t cross over . Maybe that could be a compromise that would make fans happy ?
Autopia!!!! 🤨 I honestly can’t ride it because of the smell. I love the smell of pirates and splash mountain. Churros and popcorn are also wonderful Disney smells.
On an unrelated topic WDW is getting magic band+ this summer. Could this be why we have not seen them in Disneyland Resort? The role out of Genie was such a mess they HAVE to get this one right! So maybe we see bands by Christmas once the bugs are worked out??
The worst part is Star Wars night showed all they could do imagine if boba fett, mando, Asoka, Ewoks, Jawas, tuskin raiders and anyone else they wanna throw including the emperor, darth maul and darth Vader walking around.
Did Dave say how sick rides with screens make him and also say wouldn't it be cool if there were screens on space mountain? Sounds like if there were you wouldn't be able to ride it anymore cause you'd be sick. I like space mountain the way it is. I also love screen rides like star tours but I wouldn't change space mountain.
Wonder if the problem with galaxy’s edge and extra characters is they are restricting it to Batu. It should have been called Star Wars land. Just look at what happens when they do the after hours and the crowds they get for the characters that are there with Darth Vader, Maul, Jawas, Ewoks, Captain Rex, Tuskin Raiders ext…. How they can’t see this is beyond me 😱😱😱
I rly thought I saw C3-PO in a vid from a park recently, I was amazed. But did I dream that? Ah, just saw the post mentioning SW nite, he was there! Gotta be tough, tho.
A path from Toon to GE may be able to cross the service tunnel. Follow the wall next to the railroad. enter through the large service door near Emo's ship. they would lose access to a side of a building. but not that far. Gadget's coaster would have to go.. The tunnel(surface) would be 300 feet long+/-
Indeed! The whole Mandalorian snafu is an ENORMOUS missed opportunity for Disney! They really pooched the Scrooge on that one! Sheer, unmitigated stupidity. (I could go on for an hour. I will not!)
“What’s the priority?” My opinion: Seems like New TomorrowLand is coming. They are getting New Orleans Square, Tree House, and ToonTown, ready for the rest of TomorrowLand to go down for ~2-3 years (Starting 2024).
One possible solution to the time-line situation in Galaxy's Edge is to coordinate the characters from specific time-lines. Just have Darth Vader, young Luke, Leia, Han and Obi-wan in Galaxy's Edge at one time, then Rey, Finn, Kylo & Poe another time. I agree that we want to see all the characters.
"If they wanted to build a connector they would have done it." Not necessarily. This assumes that Disney plans intelligently and far ahead where the parks are concerned. They don't always, and I could yell you about some truly boneheaded, short term decisions that ended up costing a lot more to fix in the long run. See DCA for the most obvious example.
Thanks, as always! &, assuming the "wonder what was so popular in 1977.... I don't know but..." comments were NOT sarcastic, let's look at the 10 year trend! 1969(8?): USA landed on the MOON!!!🥰🥰🥰 2001 Space Oddesy(sp?) 1973(-ish?): Logan's Run Mid/late 70's: Solyant Green Star Trek (TOS TV syndication resurgence & movies) 1977: Star Wars: A New Hope 1978 (79?)capitalized on the space theme trend with Spielberg's "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". Without looking it up, I can't say if "Bladrunner" was part of that '70's wave or 80's, but overall point to the "wonder what was so popular..." comment is that the late 1970's was a very, VERY prolific time for space themed entertainment!👍👌😉
WAIT!! Ronn totally threw David a bone asking "what was so popular in '77??". LoL. DAVID!? the answer is Space Mountain! LoL. You totally missed it. 🤣🤣
The difference between avenger's campus and galaxy's edge is galaxy's edge is set in a very specific place and time in the lore of the franchise whereas avenger's campus is technically it's own universe where everything exists all at once.
I'll keep saying it bc its a hill I will die on. Reskin Tomorrowland into classic Star Wars. Then Disney can can their precious timeline in Galaxy's Edge if they're so concerned about it. But how can they have a Star Wars themed land and Not have classic characters like Darth Vader, Kenobi, Boba Fett, Han, Leia, Luke, ect. I mean Disney is doing a LOUSY job at having characters from the newest trilogy in GE. They only have Rey, Kylo, Chewie, and 2 count them 2 storm Troopers! No Captain Fasma, Po, or anyone else from the resistance. It's really quite sad that Fasma shows up with all the Troopers in Tomorrowland but not GE. Why? It makes NO sense. Rant over. Love you guys.
Galaxy edge is called Star wars by Disney, but the fans completely disagree. It's not in any of the movies and solely in the parks. We have no emotional attachment to it and no reason to. It is an amazing looking place with nothing going on and nothing to do with Star wars
If you’re going to spend 20 minutes praising Avengers Campus please explain why the land needs all of those characters and entertainment. Otherwise Bobby might think he can keep building lands like this. AC is a Terribly designed land that relies on character meet and greets and Instagram food to carry the weight. Characters and entertainment should compliment great rides and placemaking. Not be the main draw.
Galaxy's Edge needs to incompas all things Star Wars. Can you imagine being able to walk into a room and see Jabba the Hutt and his entire throne room? What about an Ewok village that you can walk through and explore? And the fact that they didn't build a Speeder Bike style roller coaster ride is absolutely beyond me. A sandcrawler with Jawas and tusken Raiders Milling about? A bespin area with Lando Calrissian? What about Dagobah and Yoda? Heck, I would even take the phantom menace Star Wars I would take Darth Sidious Darth Maul any of those guys over kylo Ren and these clowns from the new movies
Disney could easily do a Star Wars rewind or Star Wars land rewind and we could go to any planet and anybody can show up why couldn’t we do that that would be awesome and we wouldn’t be in a box what are your thoughts?
Amen about Star Wars characters. I wanna see Mando and Darth Vader and Princess Leia even Jar Jar Tuscan radar s and all of them there’s so many it could be just like Adventure campus characters everywhere it would be awesome. Let’s go Disneyland.
AC is only "flourishing" because it's popular right now. GE was popular when the new Star Wars movies were out. Let's not forget that we always want the newest, latest and greatest. Most of us are like kids, after 15 minutes we are done with it. I do agree that the amount of characters in AC is a reason it is popular. This is the only way Disney can get people in there. The lack of attractions is whats really hurting AC. WEB slingers is Toy Story Mania with your hands and not worth the wait. AC also has a lack of themeing compared to GE. Lets face it! Disney is changing. Lets hope they get rid of cost cutting Cheapak and start giving us our moneys worth. Cause right now any Disney park is not worth the price anymore. Disney used to innovate and have other parks copy their attractions. Now its Disney who is copying attractions but uears later. Think about the new GOTG coaster at Epcot. Similar to Gringotts at USO.
Y’all are talking about the park like EVERYONE that goes, goes multiple times a year. Now I agree, it needs a bit of a refresh and that will come with more content on Disney+. But you talk like GE is nearly barren but so many recent videos still shows the land packed with people. And again, those people are at the park for the first time, or the first time in a long time. They aren’t like y’all that go 11 days out of 14 days, you know?
I believe the issue with Galaxy's Edge not having more characters from the movies is Kathleen Kennedy. She has clearly stated that Star Wars is all about moving forward. No "old" characters.
But that's not true as we keep getting old characters in these shows. Kennedy is not in charge of the parks. We do need new stories but fans are baby's and want the same over and over
Avenger's Campus is the latest cheap attraction from the cheap Bob Chapek. Character meets and one cheap ride that's done better at Universal Studios Florida. Horrible.
Quit comparing this ride to Orlando it's not fair. That's like me comparing Indiana Jones to the stunt show at Hollywood studios. Two different attractions that have Indy in them🙄🤡
Disney made a bet that the sequel trilogy would be wildly popular and, therefore, meeting the sequel trilogy characters in galaxy’s edge would be exciting for guests. So, it made sense, to them, to fixate Batuu into a specific point in the Star Wars canon timeline. The sequel trilogy was not widely loved so I don’t imagine most Star Wars / Disney fans are overly excited to meet sequel trilogy characters outside of maybe Rey and Kylo. At least Chewie and R2 stumble by sometimes.
They need the non woke star wars at galaxy's Edge... That's why the hype fizzled out... Avengers campus also did not meet expectation which is why they halted the other construction of the rest of Avengers campus David you have even said that before
My dad is part of the 4-5 man team taking down the Tarzan tree. The scheduled end that they’re looking for is Friday, but it may go a little into next week.

That's so cool Izzy that your dad gets to be a part of the changes! Thanks for the info!
Awesome news that's awesome. Hope he gets to keep the Tarzan sign 😀
Now there’s some inside info! So fun. Good luck with the sign 😉
Indelible sounded great! The alliteration with the D in David, made it an excellent word choice - I vote for using it again.
Yes. Please bring it back
hear, hear!
Indelible in my dictionary is: not erasable! And David certainly cannot be erased. So... Winner!
Great podcast as always
These podcasts are awesome !

Galaxy's Edge was amazing. Was there on Sunday. Loved it.
But I do understand the desire to get the other eras in there. That would be cool too.
C3-P0 just needs a mime casted to play him. it can be done.
My #1 Disneyland smell, of course, is Pirates. But my #2??? I love the smell of tomorrowland. I think it's mostly Galactic Grill. That theme park burger smell and whatever else. The smell of burnt rubber/asphalt always meant Disneyland to me. Traveling in from Palmdale where I grew up, we had to take the 14 FWY into the valley and that smell always hit us when we had the car windows down.
What if a Space Elevator Restaurant in the middle between toon town and edge instead of a pathway is made over the blocked backstage area?
Lol I would go 😉
i can't believe Ronn spent that much time on a path between Toon Town and Galaxy's Edge. i just watched an old contruction video where David showed such a path would have to go under backstage area.

I really should learn to love Autopia. It's still going to be there long after I'm dead and gone.
OMG! I grew up at Golf N Stuff!!!
Also, Ronny Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout opened in 2017, not 2016!

Amazing podcast freshbaked
It is sad some lands stagnate but it is not uncommon. (Tomorrowland never gets much more than a paint job or overlay)
David is the king of kindnesses
FreshBaked, David, Ronn. Over at "Galaxy's Edge," the "Millenium Falcon" does'nt fire up very often these day's. Why's that? Cheers, Chris Perry.

I go to Galaxy Edge for one thing; change the diapers on my twins because there is a family bathroom there. No other reason to go there.
Disney could easily do a Star Wars rewind or Star Wars land rewind and we could go to any planet and anybody can show up why couldn’t we do that that would be awesome and we wouldn’t be in a box what are your thoughts?
Why don’t you eat the popcorn?
Does Ronn have a channel ? IG?
I miss Bugsland 😢
Galaxy’s edge should be called Starwars land and ignore all timelines.
1977 Star war came to movie screen all space rocket
Amen about Star Wars characters. I wanna see Mando and Darth Vader and Princess Leia even Jar Jar Tuscan radar s and all of them there’s so many it could be just like Adventure campus characters everywhere it would be awesome. Let’s go Disneyland.
Star wars alsum
Actually it's not like gringotts at all🙄. If you are comparing spinning coaster in side then crush in Paris did it first
Y’all are talking about the park like EVERYONE that goes, goes multiple times a year.
We do need new stories but fans are baby's and want the same over and over
Latest on reedy creek?
Avenger's Campus is the latest cheap attraction from the cheap Bob Chapek. Character meets and one cheap ride that's done better at Universal Studios Florida. Horrible.
I agree but there are plenty more cheap attractions that were before Chapek
Should 100% be rethemed as mando and evolve with the show.
We'd get all the heroes from the OT and all the Disney plus characters
And add a dark side cave like on dagobah for Vader interactions
They need the non woke star wars at galaxy's Edge... That's why the hype fizzled out... Avengers campus also did not meet expectation which is why they halted the other construction of the rest of Avengers campus David you have even said that before
Turning Red is a really bad movie...
