Which one is correct: "He is good in English" or "He is good at English"?
    Native speaker:
I agree that it depends on the context. If the focus is on languages, then ‘in’ is more natural, e.g. “He’s terrible when speaking Danish but he’s good in English.” If the focus is on school subjects, where a class or course is the sense, then again ‘in’ is more natural, e.g. “He’s excellent in geometry and he’s good in English.” But if we’re talking about general skills, then ‘at’ might be used, e.g. “He’s awful at tennis, he is bad at woodcarving, yet he’s good at English.” However, a language is not really an activity or a skill - although speaking a language is a skill - and such a sentence is unlikely; it would only pass as very informal speech. We’re more likely to say, “His English is good” or “He’s good at speaking English.”
