the phone seemed to grab focus more often than not on the background instead on Stale. Also Sharpness seemed to be cranked up 100% because the trees had almost a glowing edge. nevertheless the edit was pretty dope .
nick Verneck sharpness is definitely the main thing I was bummed there was no customization on. Never the less, this is a video filmed on a cell phone, not a cinema camera haha

Hugo Schwarz it’s actually the same price as an iPhone X. With much better color profiles for filming. Settings are better on an X. Color profile is better on the RED. -Spenny
Stale Sandbech The iPhone has all the highest specs tho and way better software, the red seems kind of gimmicky and they spent most of their budget on the outside. Hoping they will keep going with their phones tho, if they get their priorities right it could be next level
I don’t understand how people can hype IPhones up. OnePlus makes better phones for more than half the price. The Red has better filming and color grading than the iPhone for sure. And if anything it should be compared to Samsung’s color grading which is usually superior

The only thing good about the video is stales ridding. The snow is flat in color even for a cloudy day and the rocks and trees in the background are noisy and discolored

Minimum focus seems to have issues, depth of field looks non existent, and the auto adjust with the brightness is distracting. Hope you aren’t being forced to used this from now on.

For being such a highly priced phone from one of the best camera companies in the world, it delivers quite bad video quality, too much sharpening, higly contrasted (maybe is just the color grading aplied), not great dynamic range... And nowadays almost any phone can shoot on log gamma using apps like filmmic pro. I get the point of this video, and the hydrogent might be a quite good phone, but not so good for videos. If someone would want to start on filmmaking, for that price he could get a pretty decent phone, and a camara that produces better quality such a panasonic g7 or gx80, sony a6300, bmpcc...
Spenny what is wrong with the camera audio on this video? It's really bad. IMO having iOS for security and privacy outweighs any Android phone plus as a MacBook Pro, iTunes and Apple TV user, iOS really makes sense. Callum Ward there’s no external mic on this it’s a straight phone camera/mic that you’re seeing. High speed wind sounds like shit but I didn’t have the right connector to add my external mic on. Hope that clears things up for you. And in my opinion this is insane quality for a cell phone... -Spenny
Yea it's very good for a phone but you would expect better as the RED company have very good cameras and stuff. Ps your setup is way better for both audio and quality.

But the real game changer will come next year this time with the module they are currently developing that will take it from just a red phone into a full cinema grade camera complete with a RED sensor and the ability to attach any standard DSLR (Sony, Canon, Nikon, PL) lens

Wicked edit. It's pretty amazing what a camera can film these days. The biggest tell though, was the sharpness. Super cranked up all the way.
