Fun fact - both Marc and India started their careers in the house/freestyle trend in the late 80s/early 90s. They had decent careers (especially La India, doing a lot of work with the powerhouse Producers Masters at Work, as she was married to Lil' Louie Vega) but once they returned back to their PR roots and Salsa? Maaaan, their careers BLEW UP! The Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz (who you should also check out!) named La India as the Princess of Salsa - a huge compliment/endorsement!

And she started with house music and was briefly married to Louie Vega

I love you guy and i jus wanted to share with you that in many afro-latino cultures they practice “santería” which you could kind of compare to “voodoo” in a way but the reason she had the cigar is because in santeria cigars and vodka and or rum is kinda like … tribute to their gods and no they where not married jus very very close friends and this was in 1994 not sure exactly when but 94

This is my first time here but yes legendary they are. I've seen them so many times in concert and it is the best of the best. More Marc and India. Don't know if you have checked out Ese Hombre (La India). You should see her in concert. Marc and India at that time did not like each other and in the concert in Pennsylvania, she would not come out and sing this song with him. They have a not so good relationship with each other. I don't know why and how it got started but they can sing so good together. Another favorite of mine is (La India - Mi Primera Rumba)

Both are great singers. They recorded that song at the early 90s. Marc wasn't married to Jlo at the time. As American I loved salsa music that I learned through my mother in law who is half Irish and half Puerto Rican. The song lyrics is very beautiful because it talks about two people of different races that fell in love and desired that there wouldn't be differences in people races so people would be happy. I think the same. Something about Marc and India is that they ended up enemies after they recorded that beautiful song.

Both of them started out singing freestyle and house music. She sang back up on one of his early songs called Ride On the Rhythm. India always came out on stage with a cigar. This song was originally sung by a Panamanian singer named Basilio. It was a ballad. They covered it, making a salsa version. It became an instant classic! They brought TREMENDOUS soul to this song and to salsa. Marc was not with J Lo at the time. India, I believe was still married to Little Louie Vega (producer of Ride On the Rhythm) at the time. This album came out in 1994.

India and Marc recorded the song in 2 different record studios ( Miami and Pto Rico). He was not that much into the song so he recorded it with not much interest .India recorded her part and she mopped the floor with him … so Marc had to RE-RECORD his part .
There was always this competition thing between them both so that’s why they didn’t get along all this time .
Marc Anthony was single and a father , India was married . Friendship went South after collaboration , Marc talks bad about India at every concert after performing this song , She's clueless as to what happen , He won't explain why ! 🤔( it's a shame , they could be doing more collaboration !)

Yeah traditional Latin music is super soulful it’s just not very mainstream. Like I’m from Puerto Rico & I personally never seen the real traditional stuff heard or sold outside outside the island. Cus typically it’s kinda like this where a bunch of “various artists” just get together and make stuff so everything always features a bunch of ppl but not many ppl are huge huge.
