  • We discover an epic 4x4 beach camp and is super remote but so worth it. This camp made us feel really remote and far from everything!
We camp up on the beach and witness the best evening we have had in a while and then travel up to barn hill station and we have to say, don't miss it if you travelling up to Broome or the other way. One of the best beaches we have come across.

Barn Hill was our winter home for many many years. When we first started our winter sojourn there were only approx 12 vans that used to arrive for the winter, all huddled in a small space towards the centre of the area. Power went off at 9.30 - 10pm every night unless Janice was watching the evening movie on tv. Power came back on at 6am in the morning. It was not unusual at a later date to see 22 cars on the beach after the boats had been launched, and also not unusual to see the seat overlooking the water full of spectators waiting for the first unfortunate boat to time their launch wrong. Fishing was epic, and have pulled many beautiful bluebone, cod etc, out of the water there. Sad that we cant continue due to age. Enjoy.

Just be aware of deadly critters in water pools you come across, stone fish, blue ring octopus, cone shells, etc, don’t be complacent. Have a good look before jumping in.

Hello guys , love the show. Thank you - may I ask what type of drone do you use ? Also the name of your front stand for the van that you use instead of a wind up jockey wheel. Hope to meet you on the road somewhere in 2024 !! We set off after Easter and can’t wait for 12 months lap of this great land.

With fishing up north - everything is tide dependent. Tide charts are online. Also find yourselves an anglers almanac - there are days around either side of the full & new moons where fishing is switched right on.
So pick your best almanac fishing days, and fish for one hour either side of high tide.
You need 2 rods to fish up north.
Small rod with small white soft plastic on jig heads, and catch the small resident fish, with this.
The larger rod you tie on a circle hook, and any small resident fish you catch, pull it off live, pin it through the top of the middle of its back with the circle hook and cast that out on the big rod and just let it swim around like a “wounded bait fish”.
Bigger predatory fish will eat the smaller wounded bait fish and because it’s a circle hook they will catch themselves.
If you have a pvc tube you can push into the beach as a rod holder - you can leave the bigger rod with the live bait unattended to fish for you while you concentrate on catching the next small live baitfish with the small rod & soft plastics.
All fishing up north is a dog eat dog world where big fish eat small fish.
Lures etc sometimes just won’t catch while a wounded live baitfish seldom fails.
One hour either side of high tide.
Pretty much same deal for fishing out of your boat up there too.
