She has an absolutely magnificent voice. She is actually able to voice her voice just like one would voice a musical chord. What I mean by this is that she adds in both flat and sharp 9ths, 11th and flat 13th into the harmonic pattern that resonates out of her vocal apparatus. She is one of the rare voices that has this type of unique acoustic ability. Her voice is like that of a jazz musician magnificently articulating a Melody with heavenly Harmony and countermeasure that lifts it to the highest heavens.
Fascinating and beautifully expressed.

The biggest mistake made on this film was not to include background music…..the silence makes this movie seem more like a play.

Whenever I see Barbra in other movies I always see her as Fanny Brice
In this film I agree with you--in certain scenes--but have you ever seen Nuts or Up the Sandbox for instance? There is no trace of Fanny.
@@chrisn7259 Hi Chris. 😊 Regarding "Up The Sandbox" specifically, you are spot on. Her performance was understated, and displayed a range that was, unfortunately, never tapped into. Besides that, she is radiant in what is her most natural physical appearance in a movie. I love "Up The Sandbox". Unfortunately, I think you and I are the only people that saw it.

@@justmeiniowa Though I was just a "wee lad", an older brother took us to see it when it was first released! Can you imagine seeing it in a packed theater full of people who'd never seen it? People were out of control laughing. This was before the days of the cinema megaplexes and a theater would be playing one movie and commit to it...I recall this particular theater was all done up in red plaid.

Just have to point out that on the roof top when she refuses to be his patient any longer HE INSULTS THE HECK OUT OF HER AND HER LIFE, then after he fails to hypnotize her as he’s leaving he later tortures her by singing day & night to come back AND finally she caves and comes back mad and hurt because “ you can’t want me I have no character and I’m not the woman you really want”……… AND THEN HE TELLS HER HOW SPECIAL SHE IS RIGHT NOW IN THIS LIFE…………..ummmm…….. what? You insulted her before making her feel bad then you build her up when she’s feeling like a loser…… doctor,,,, you are sick. Lol

That’s rather funny as Yves Montand had a decades-long career as a hugely popular singer of hit songs in France and around the world. He was picked out by Edith Piaf in the early 1940s and regularly appeared with her and sang with her. He was a singer long before he started acting in movies.
2038! Barbra Streisand is still alive and in rude health, if she passed tomorrow and was instantly reincarnated she’d be only 14 in 2038 and too young to be Yves Montand’s wife or lover. Still, she did say Virginia.
