How Fast Can We Ride Our Cheap Bike We Bought On Amazon?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- Since we bought it last year, our budget ‘superbike’ from Amazon has well and truly been put to the test. We’ve sent it up an epic climb, tested it over the Paris-Roubaix cobbles, and pitted it in plenty of other challenges, but we’ve never found out just how fast it is… until now! Hank and Conor took the Eurobike to a race track so see just how quickly it can go!

Were you impressed by Hank and the Eurobike? What challenges would you like to see us do with it next?
Make Hank race in a crit!
Race against a go kart?
Once again Hank and Connor are comedy GOLD!
buy some entry level wheels and test the performance gains. You can buy a brand new DT Swiss, Shimano or Fulcrum wheel set for 150-200€
upgrading the eurobike one cheap part at a time
Conor and Hank are the perfect comedy duo. Love these two together!
@Frank Swimbladder stop being a hater, there are already enough. Does it make you feel better to be negative or could you just move along without commenting? It’s people like you, when summed up, injecting little bits of negativity that are not productive or beneficial that create the sour mood within social media today. Just because you have a thought or disagree with my comment doesn’t mean you have to leave one of your own.
Am I over reacting? Possibly. But I’m just tired of it.
my favorite pairing is Hank + Simon. videos with those two are gold
@@kevin._.farren wow, i liked the video but reading your simping makes me want to leave a thumbs down
As an owner of Eurobike, I am glad to see someone can ride so fast on it. By the way, I don't have confidence in its stock tires too. I replaced the stock tires with a pair of solid tires (it is already heavy, so I don't mind adding a little bit more weight). Now it is a two wheels tank that can bring me anywhere on-road and off-road without a flat tire.
I just looked this up on Amazon. I'm sold!
Eurobike XC550 Road bike main features: 1. High-crabon steel frame road bike is sturdy and durable
I saw one of thes rolling through NYC last week. It was like spotting a celebrity! You are the best marketing this company has ever had lol
I saw a Eurobike in the wild the other day. Rider was decked out in full replica Sagan Bora rainbow kit. The SIDI shoes had to be worth more than the bike alone.
😂 Maybe lad wants to go harder and get better yea?..the euro bike is harder to ride and eat up more watts
Good work. However. One big problem with the eurobike is the gears. The highest gear is 42/14 = 3:1. That is *way* lower than the standard 50/11= 4,55:1. For example a Triban for the same money will be faster.
With that sad: Impressive Hank! Really Impressive!
Man not a spoilsport but "with that said" and totally agree with you Markus
People say it's rolling quite hard (the hubs won't be the best, it even has a freewheel), so it's unclear if a rider would have enough power to pedal faster with bigger front chain rings (42 is typical for a 3 speed trekking crank set).
Mabe adjusting the cup and cone bearings properly will let it roll better, cup and cone hubs are often tightened too much from factory on
@@simonm1447 of course berrings and such matters and it can happends you reach topspeed at 50-12 or 50-13, not 50-11.
But 42-14 is seriously low highest gear. My cheap hybrid have 48-14 and I have actully run out of gears one time or two...
@@dcataj5085 That is brutal. Last ride my cadence was rarely over 75 last ride...
@@dcataj5085 without doubt!
Sales of the Eurobike will surely soar after this impressive review!
I already own one
Sales must be low lately thats why they need to pay gcn for marketing purposes. Just like canyon and other bike brands.
1:04 Funny move giving Connor a kids bike to hold. GCN always with the jokes
i didnt know little tikes made kids bikes 🤣🤣🤣🤣
how tall is he?
@@miranassy2759 2.04m
@@jethromartino ohh, that's clearly above average, custom bike frame size?
@@miranassy2759 i tried really hard - i cant find the info for the bike frame size hahahahahahahahha
05:11 "I'll be waiting with a gun" isn't even enough to deter Hank! The man has no fear.
7:10 almost looks sped up. This is gorgeous
This Eurobike worth less than 100 pond here in China, just a entry level commute bike with bluffing looks. Every bike enthusiast know it's trash, but it's so damn fun seeing you guys living up it's full potential
Hank in a slightly bad mood and Conor being the straight man is a new and hilarious element. They work well together. As he’s gotten more comfortable over the years, Conor is really good. It’s really impressive that there are no weak links in the GCN presenter team. They’re all so good. I suspect part of this is a great production team, but letting their personalities flow is big.
The most impressive thing is not the speed, it’s Hank being able to lift that thing over his head in celebration!
What I'm interested in, is how well do these cheap modern bikes compare to top grade bikes from 10,20,30,40+ years ago?
They always point out how rubbish they actually are, however... could it be that the pros were riding something similar at some point in the past and still got impressive results?
No, the 40 year old bikes the pros rode were still built by people who cared. The Eurobike is built as cheaply as possible by people who don't care.
@@Rover200Power Granted, maybe not this particular Eurobike, but just to see how much money you need to spend today, to ride like pros did some X years ago?
I recently saw a test between a modern super bike and the equivalent machine from 30 years ago and the time difference was about 7 - 8 seconds
@@stephenspencer8839 7-8 seconds doing what?
@@Tibovl I believe he rode them on the same circuit and took measurements, he didn't use them as tractors.
Euro bike has seen more use than 90% of SL7s 😂🤣💶
Yeah right 😂😂😂
At this point, the Eurobike is as much a part of GCN as any presenter!
Eurobike should sponsor GCN and give each presenter their own bike LOL
Rubbish & way past its comfort zone?
Part of the family
The amazing accomplishment is Hank lifting the bike over his head at the end. Another eurobike challenge could be which other presenters can lift the eurobike overhead (insert Si and Dan's cyclists arm jokes) and how many reps they can do.
Hank and Conor yet again perform the one of best duo presenter videos. I was waiting for those sparks to start flying and Hank jump to hyperspace. Sure made that EuroBike fly!!! Well done guys.
Connor with hank’s Orbea just looks.. iconic
Had he had on Ronald McDonald gear on, he would have looked... Legendary!
Brilliant video, Hank going at 41 mph, so funny but he's so strong, fantastic
That Eurobike must be loving life - all the others end up in a shed after 1 ride 🤣
I just want to see this bike upgrade a bit and redo all the challeges alloy maybe carbon parts laying around your headquaters and good brakes for safety.
Throw on 105(groupset of the people) and some decent wheels/tires and see how much difference it makes.
The heart of the Eurobike is its very rubishness, but I would like to see them upgrade the brakes. I ❤ the presenters too much to see them come to grief.
It's literally not worth the time or effort to upgrade it. It would be a huge waste. You can only polish a turd so far...
Hank is a BEAST! 🤙
There is something just so deadpan about Connor and his presenting skills. I love it.
Conor and Hank are the best duo. Love their chemistry and how funny they are. Take care guys.
I know it’s the best feature of the Eurobike, but I do think removing the kick stand would have reduced weight and given some aero gains😂😂. Loved Hank’s reaction when he saw the 41mph reading 🤣🤣
Cheap kickstands weight about a kilo so defo worth taking off, but then would it still be a true eurobike? hehe
That stay-mounted kickstand might be the only thing holding the rear triangle of that frame in one piece.
Would love to see a video on cycling and DVTs. Keen cyclist - mid 30s - jsug suffered a DVT 😣🥹. Not sure how / when I can get back on my bike - partly due to the leg muscle (constant pain currently) but also partly due to being on blood thinners and risk of bleeding (for next 3 months at least possibly for ever). Would love to hear from anyone else been through this of GCN/GMBN get some experts on to discuss. I ride both on/off road. It’s sunny out, I have 7 pride and joy bikes in the shed and not able to get out Miserable.
00:52 nothing more wholesome than seeing a dad go for a pep talk walk with his son.
GCN's 58th attempt to create a snuff film with Hank.
“How’d it feel?” -- “Sketchy.” Hahaha! I bet.
You could start a new comedy series that is just Conner holding up Hank’s tiny things
Everyday that starts with an Eurobike video is a good day
Would love to see Hank switch over to the Orbea and see what is the top speed he can do in comparison.
Spoiler Alert: It's a bit faster
Pretty impressive advert for Eurobike. It's done everything and " keeps on ticking".
Entertaining...but quite clear there were 20 mph winds when you shot this video.
I don't think I would like to do a max speed run on that bike. Sketchy is an understatement.
It's not the most stable bike we've ever ridden 😅
Great video guys!!! Now I'm going to buy a Eurobike for my daily commute. At least I can exceed the speed of a car commute in London these days. And not be too worried if it gets stolen at that price
Same in my outrageous traffic of Bucharest. I have 3 bikes. Cars are outdated for sure. I rid emy bikes even in winter at -10*C...
Or just add a bit extra cash and grab a RC 120 from Decathlon, far better bike.
@@dainiusvysniauskas2049 or even a second hand bike would be better than the Eurobike, something like the single speed Ollie bought for 190 Euros for a video some time ago.
I'm pretty sure that 1/2 of Euro bike sales come from people who decided to buy that bike from a GCN video. I hope that the Eurobike is a sponsor and that GCN isn't just providing free advertisement. Awesome video !
the comedy was fantastic. Hank can make anyone seem funny, even Connor ;-)
Damn, the derided Eurobike is still going strong!
Somehow, it's still going
More fun from GCNs little and large. Connor stood next to Hanks bike, looks like a kids bike
When a video has hank AND the eurobike in it, there is only one option: IT WILL BE LIT
Train on the Eurobike and imagine how fast you would be on your top-shelf Orbea. Drop 10 Kg and fly like the wind. I'd love to see that as a GCN video.
Wanted to see you do the same with the orbea and then compare!
That wil never happen 🤣would be bad pr for the orbea... In pure top speed in short distance would it be the same i Belive... In longer distance and overall qualitee wil orbea eat the eurobike for breakfast.... 🙏😁
That Orbea looks like a kids bike when Conor is holding it up 🤣
That euro bike seems the most reliable bike ever. It’s been through the mill and it’s still working
We wouldn't go that far, it had some sketchy moments on the descent of the Alto de Velefique
I like this more scientific or data driven theme compared to the videos few years back. It's nice to see the most "What if ? " scenarios tested at a reasonable circumstances where the validity of the experiment is good. Great Work !
I was expecting the camera to pull back and show Hank's dad holding the speed gun.
Now that Hank has surpassed 41 mph on the Euro Bike, he doesn't need his Orbea. If he wants to find a good home for it, I would volunteer to take care of it for him. Conor holding Hank's Orbea makes the bike look like a child sized bike.
Connor picking up Hank’s Orbea like it’s a child’s bike 🤣🤣
Connor would have benefitted more from the tailwind being 9ft tall 😉🤣👍
You know you can get that Euro bike to go faster than 50mph if you throw it off a tall building. at the same time you can see how strong/well its built.
Great effort Hank. Would have been great to have compared the speed between the Orbea and the Budget bike.
OMG Conor’s little ‘never trust a wet fart’ run to the timing point at 5:15 was comedy gold. Step aside CX Ollie.
haha loved this vid gentlemen thanks. 8:45 Actually it wouldf be fun to see the big green machine on the track. But I laughed pretty hard at Conor's wit.
Hilarious! You guys are getting your money's worth in the "investment" in the Eurobike. Was worried for Hank's safety with the lack of brakes.
Love that when Conor is holding Hank's normal bike he looks like he's holding a kid's one... just missing the stabilisers!
#askGCNtech Hi guys, how did Hank get the Orca under 7 kg? Mine has the same frame and wheels (but with ultegra} and it’s just over 8 kgs...
I been using a eurobike for 4 months now with all original stuff it came with I do around 30km everyday since I had it. It's had about about 20 punchers the tubes been slimed. It's still going good.
I wanted to know how the Eurobike compared to the Orbea in top speed. What are their price vs top speed difference?
I wonder what the frame weighs, by itself. It might even be made from low carbon gas pipe, with tube thicknesses of 2mm plus. It would be interesting to set Hank up on a modern, high quality, steel framed bike, with tube thicknesses of .5mm.
You don't know much about frame tubing, do you?
@@zygmuntthecacaokakistocrat6589 And you do?
I'm not an steel expert, but I have a converted hybrid bike which was a former trekking bike from 89. It has a Mannesmann cromoly frame (lugged and brazed), Alesa alloy rims and a full Shimano Deore groupset from 89.
It is 12,7 kg, more than 4 kg lighter than the Eurobike and good hubs well adjusted (!) make a real difference to cheap cup and cone hubs which may have been tightened too much in factory.
To adjust cup and cone hubs you have to put the wheel into the bike with the full quick release force - if you do this without the QR it's tightened too much and it's running harder than necessary
@@simonm1447 Chromoly is the basis for any good steel frame. There are all different levels of chromoly. You can have straight gauge where the entire tube has the same thickness, and then there are double butted and triple butted tubes, where the center sections are thinner. (which makes the tubes weigh less) ...Then you have a type of chromoly that is used to make Air-Hardening Heat-Treated tubes. Using these, will make a frame that weighs 1300g.
@@billkallas1762 my bike has straight gauge tubing, since it's lugged and brazed. It's a frame set once offered by Mannesmann (the German steel maker which later became a cell phone service provider, today part of Vodafone).
The frame is around 2500g without the fork.
I don't think butted and hydroformed frames had been offered back in the 80s, in this case the lugs work as a sort of butting.
The bike was given away for free in the neighborhood, I stripped the paint off and restored it.
Compared to a modern frame it lacks a little bit stiffness, since the tubing is not that big in diameter, but it's still fine for speeds up to 50 km/h.
Hank looked happier then than when he finished Land's end to John'o'groats!
When Connor was holding Hanks Orbea, it looked like when I hold my 10 year olds Wiggins Rouen 650 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hank you crazy bastard hahah i love it
I have the xc7000 eurobike and I have been upgrading everything, the bike is good for a started bike and upgrade as you go.
Carbon wheels and a cob jof saddle then a new cockpit and sensah 2-11 group set
How small Connor makes Hank's bike look is hilarious!
These two are so funny together 😎
at 7:45 i waited for the music of back to the future.... when doc is celebrating
a 300 dollars is 16,000 pesos in the Philippines . with that amount of money you'd be able to buy a good to go bike. it is alluminum alloy but most of it weights from 13-11kg or even 10 for some. it can be used for racing but not as good as entry level bike. but we dont usually use that kind of bike for racing, a little more higher on the price, like 400-500 dollars (21k-27k pesos) and you'd be able to get a mid range bike with a much better groupset, some with aero frames (depends on what you wanted to buy) some even has a s.t.i. some of this bike reach a weight of 9kg or even lower. but when you wanted a entry level bike, you'd need 60k pesos (1092 usd) and you'd get yourself a carbon frame, very good components and a very very much better designs and weights. idk why i commented this, maybe i just wanted to share the different type of bikes you can buy with US dollars if you're in a different country.
GCN has got so many videos out of this thing it's paid for itself 100 times over
"I just, I just don't think its safe" LOL
i feel i just got beat so hard, i can do 26 on my entry level alloy XC bike and hank is smashing 28mph on this bike that is less than half the cost of my most likely lighter weight XC bike hahahaa rip. Looks like i got a lot of work to do. really impressive.
impressive. Out of all the GCN presenters only Hank could raise the Eurobike above his head
Almost certainly true
Yay Eurobike !
Impressed werry much 🙏🙏😁that was raw power...
All these free Eurobike advertisements. I'm sure that brand is stoked.
When Connor holds Hanks super bike it looks like he's presenting a kids bike :).
Hank says it's not the size that matters but what he does with it? 🤷♂️
I have 3 bikes all from Decathlon. One MTB, one road bike, one city bike. All under 14kg. I am very satisfied. Aluminium is the best. Fook useless carbon. 😁👍
True, until you drive better bike
@@phodaOG Aluminum still rules the sky - 737 and A 320 are mainly made of it. What is fine for crossing the Atlantic can't be wrong on a bike
@@simonm1447 Both are older planes. A350 and B787 are composite, lighter, smoother, quieter and more efficient.
Carbon bikes are more comfortable, lighter and still stiff. It isn’t useless.
@@discbrakefan Carbon is plastic in my opinion - if it gets a hit from sideways (which won't happen on an aircraft during flight, but can happen with a bike) it can break easily and is expensive to repair then. Fiber material behaves different here compared to a crystalline material like metal.
Some MTB guys get hits by stones on the downtube at the first ride, and instead of a small dent in an aluminum frame the carbon frame is gone then.
Carbon may be the first choice for a pro rider to be as competitive as possible - I'm not a pro rider and I would always choose aluminum or cromoly over plastic, metal is much less sensitive and much easier to handle in maintenance.
BTW, the A 380 (a flying palace which still uses a lot of metal, sometimes as sandwich material with epoxy) is on par regarding comfort and noise level to the 350
Wild-ass-video!! Well done!! DD
It looks pretty damn cool for the price (& let’s be blunt here. People do care about looks).
But 17kg. Even as a total noob I know that’s damn heavy.
It weighs as much as my beach cruiser.
I don't know why the bike weight is important on a flat ride. More important is frame responsiveness and tires
Hank smashed it! Cheers!
How much did Eurobike pay for all the features?!
I was impressed that Hank was able to lift the Eurobike over his head!
Biggest surprise with this video is that Hank nowadays is concerned about safety! Who knew?!
It was news to us 😂
Man, I want a Eurobike. It looks way better than the orbea in McDonald's color.
Connor looks like he is holding a kids bike with hanks bike in his hand.
Nice bike, I just bought a Amazon lightweight aluminum road bike with the 3 spoke mag wheels for the same price.
Time to do some budget upgrades on the Eurobike
Great duo. Would be nice to see a comparison against the orbea
That bike is a course for the presenters! 😂
I have one of those and yes they are actually pretty fast.
You have one of those? My condolences.
@@ViveSemelBeneVivere Im a bike mechanic builder I put thick slicks on it and have it running perfect. Its not a bad bike really!

7:45 40 miles per hour and a gym equipment at the same time? woah
Would have been good to do that max speed test on Hanks bike afterwards to see how much difference all that money really makes.....
Wowowowow!!! Hilarious and incredible!
I'll be impressed when Conor and Hank take the "Walmart Special" for a speed run. Just kidding, please don't risk Hank in a run on that bike.
