- Faced with #Beijing's tightening grip on their city, more and more young Hongkongers have decided to leave to seek refuge abroad, many of them in the United Kingdom. FRANCE 24 followed Mui-Mui, a 15-year-old girl who decided to make the move, flying to London, where the local #Hong Kong community continues to grow, week by week.

congratulations to Mui Mui, for being able to leave. may God bless you, and wish you safety and happiness in UK.
What a Shame! HK is a paradise compared to many countries. Unfortunately, she has to find out the hard way.
In the early days of my country, there were many misguided youths who were manipulated by CIA but calling themselves activists. They were let go to other countries who championed for their human rights. Once they were in foreign shores, support for them from instigators dried up because they couldn't be used as pawns anymore. In the meantime my country prospered. Now they want to come home when times are good. But who wants them?.
Sad for these people brainwashed, used and now abandoned by Western power and social media!
not to mention, their violence and protesting activities are temporary suppressed only
@@welbyroberto6581 "temporarily suppressed " instead of sending them to concentration camps in Xinjiang for years till they die. I do agree they're better off than the Uyghurs.
@@heinzrichung The world has yet to see the dead bodies piling up like what was in Auschwitz, so far, nothing
@@heinzrichung And yet there are still no proof to those claims. You just regurgitate the BS that the western MSM are feeding you.
Let’s be honest, Malcolm was never on the “front lines”.
Why would he, unlike these larping "freedom fighters" in HK, he actually might be killed by the americans given their track record.
The idiot in the video also doesn't know Malcolm's positive opinions on China, Mao, and the communist party. Naming himself as McCarthy would be more accurate to describe himself.
This is child trafficking. Wtf!
A teenager have enough to purchase a ticket and get into a nation without anything? Am I watching a Bollywood movie
Of course. It is better than living in Hong Kong.
Ever heard of fundraising or asking friends or family or the BNO scheme the UK govt has released? I think that might answer some of the questions you have.
@@Asher89leo Really?
well you cannot stop some people who has an agenda to sensationalize this stupidity behave, low education, no skill, not much social experience, most importantly no money, growing up in a green house which was so well protected, now is facing a hush reality, all I can say is, she made her choice, wish her luck.
@Sora L, they needed the fall guy to do the dirty work of rioting. She took the bait. Now she has pay for it. She even duped her parent. She think she is smarter. Hope she survives n live well.
15 years old and already making terrible decisions in life. I wonder how she's going to make it past adulthood.
Not really a terrible decision, they are leaving a communist regime for freedom, I don't blame them, smart kid.
@@SmiIeyyXD If you think that I am pretty sure you're in the same naive age group as her. You don't even know what you're talking about.
I guess she will have to learn the hard way. The grass always looks greener the other side until you realized most escapees will largely be scraping a living just to get by and with ever rising cost, even for most Brits.
Thanks, France 24 English. Looks like you invested a lot to bring us this quality, 16+ minute report. Much appreciated!
Talk to Uyghurs before you being that sarcastic.
Oh, by the way, what's happened to those protesters in France?
They have sought asylum in HK!
They joint the storming of the Capitol Hill.
Lol, that's when you know France is the protesters' haven.
Let’s see how she feels after the honeymoon period

We are good in Hongkong , life here.better.
This video is helping Chinese government, there are more reasons for China to take full control of Hong Kong, because those people are promoting Hong Kong independence.
Exactly! These are some brain washed young kids who don't know nothing about the situation. HK belongs to China. If they want independance, they won't see it the whole life. Anf they lied to the western medias and said they were protesting PIECEFULLY, while the facts are that they destroyed public infrastructure, they hurted people who don't agree with them.
Every government has national security law. Hong Kong is no exception.
Utterly poor act of these youngsters, been brained wash and end up hurting themselves and their love ones. Sad to see these youngsters end up like this.
She asked for it.
Dumb things happened to dumb people
Hope she don't get any racism, or hate crime over there.
Do you know what fears the Chinese people? It is you don’t have any support if you flew to other country. When I was studying in Australia, I don’t see people were really nice to me when I need help. Instead, I saw some Australian young men abuse the trust from Chinese.
They are just being used to create chaos in HK, to stir HK Spring, just a tool
She won’t be of much use to Uncle NED in UK, no longer a pawn to disrupt China…🤗
You can go everywhere, nobody care about you if you again the law.
You can see how prejudicial Western media reports about Hong Kong. If those activists had done the same in the Western world, they would have been shot dead several times.
Oh my goodness me, the girl is only 15 years old. She is waaaay too young to live independently. Since she is only 15, she will be placed in with a foster carer!!
That's better then living in a communist regime.
Such a pity, these HKongers, their nation being destroyed and divided by the Great British Empire, HK was taken by force, and they still think UK cares for them.
It is sad and ironic that she don’t realise that she is flying to a country which have even more draconian national security and sedition laws and if she did in the UK what she did in HK ( as in arson and sedition), she would be in jail for a very long time. Hate the sanctimony from these journalists as if France didn’t have the same laws. Yellow vest?
Still so young. Never realised the difficult when you have no one to turn to at the different country.
With this news report she will get support and even donations. So many people start gofund me for more selfish reasons and succeed especially in western countries.
the young are the most easily manipulated
As a Brit I welcome all Hong Kongers to the U.K.. I’m sorry you felt you had to leave your homeland but rest assured you can protest freely in the U.K. to free HK and the CCP can’t do a thing about it. Good luck. 🍀
These kids are like misguided roses. If they are sincere in their cause, they should not fear going in jail! Youve signed up for it.
For this girl to travel does she not need written and notarized Permission to Travel Letter from both birth parents.
She was practically trafficked by foreigners from some perspectives.
Hurray hurray. Peace in HK
This just glorifies a situation where youngsters who MAY not completely understand what they are doing are held as Martyrs... I don't stand on either side in this debate however from speaking to friends who protested, not intending to be the devils advocate here but many who were 18+ themselves didn't even understand what they were doing, rather many of them were just chanting after what they heard instead of fully understanding what they stood for. Other friends who were pro-government sometimes did not understand the situation either. Many accepted Hong Kong as part of China and there was definitely a level of unacceptable and unprofessional police brutality. IDK, I feel like minors who travel seeking asylum should not be given it so easily rather there should be some level of assessment to determine the urgency of each individual's situation... In my opinion, I don't think she would have been prosecuted if she hadn't partaken in this interview. Her only offence (on record) was the distribution of flyers that advocated anti-government ideas until she did this interview. To me she doesn't seem to understand in full her decision, rather she is guided by fear (which is reasonable) as well as the desire to become a martyr of sorts (which is more characteristic of a teenager wanting to make something of themselves).
***This is only my opinion as I myself used to have anti-china views which were motivated by the fact that my peers were anti-china without fully understanding why. To me, she seems to be going through the same...
Common sense, what i saw from the protests was anything but peaceful. Their fight for freedom and democracy was a joke, they attacked everything that didn't follow or supported their behavior.
Not peaceful protests? How can you proof that? Were you spending every second on the protest sites? If not, how you proof your sources of information not misleading you to make your irresponsible conclusion?
@@jennif9289 my own eyes and my neighbours are proof, they blocked the roads around the university behind my apartment. After a few days the neighbourhood went to clear up the roads to let the ambulance reach the hospital. The peaceful protestors started throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails to the people clearing the roads. Also the entrances to subways stations all had their glass broken and had fire damage. Go watch your fake news and keep cheering them. Apart from looting it wasn't much different to the riots in USA. But MSM just called them pro-democracy protesters never once mentioned the attacks on stores who's owner spoke out against them, people who cleared the streets were beaten and if you were not a western person talking back at them you will be in hospital, there was even an guy who get on fired and they claimed it was an actor. These bunch lost my support after they started sorrounding the main police station.
Yah so true. I think the protests I HK prior to 2018 is totally great, where things are peaceful and most ppl know what they are requesting for. But when they involved the underage groups, the whole thing become so meaningless. Protest driving by a group of people who don’t even have voting rights is seriously a joke.
They left not because due to facing with Beijing's tightening grip on their city but they flee to avoid one day they will be caught because of their crimes.... come on, this is what they really afraid of....many people know about that.
Don't let the door hit you on your way out.
Nobody forced you to leave your homeland. You brought it to yourself
can add subtitiles?
At a tender age, the decision she has taken might just back fire.
If you heard clearly, she was being hunt down.
Better for the trouble makers to leave HK and fighting for freedom in UK where the government would welcome trouble makers destroy public transits and financial facilities
Give me a break. HK is better off without these rioters. They are migrants moving from an extremely rich metropolitan city to the poor countryside in UK. Sooner or later, they would find out that the grass is not greener the other side.
Yeah Long live Wuhan Coronavirus
They thought the other side is better soon they will find out Hong Kong much better.

@GOOSEBUMPS I'm not saying the West loves anyone ,I don't think they do, I 'm just sympathizing with this girl's parents.
@@tariromoyo348 She's in for a rude awakening.
No she is not leaving by herself. There is full TV coverage and script write up for her. We dont have any sympathy for the rioter that try to ruin HK.
At this point with all the drama going on in Hong Kong. I think Macau 🇲🇴 is a better place to be than Hong Kong.
Nice try.
I guess the NED and CIA don't care about Macau for some reason.
Macau is boring. Gangsters like to go there a lot.
It will be very interesting to see how much more freedom and human rights these HKers will enjoy in the new places in the West. The chances are, not much since they still need to abide by the local laws except for the fact they can criticize the government in HK and China more. Try to make comments (and even better act on them) about the western system and the government in their locality the same way they did in HK and see what happens. Sedition, insurrection and any forms of violence are not only illegal, but would also be dealt with a lot more harshly (with bullets if tear gas is enough) in both US and UK.
She could do exactly the same thing she could have done during the riots. Fire bombing, set up road blocks, damage road, smash up commercial buildings, disrupting commercial activities. Perhaps she could do a bit more than what she might have done back in HK, burning cars. But French cops are not too restrained when it comes to putting down riots. So she might have come to the right country to perfect her craft.
they will face whar racism is all about-no place like home .
This will make it a little bit easier to rent a place. Very nice.
she is 15 years old with fair skin and youthful appearance and long silky hair and someone paid for everything she needed to get to the other side of the planet alone. what can possibly happen next?
oh, that is her "only" skill left, you really understand the real world.
Should keep the track to the girl where she is now!
Wish her all the best.
If you dig deeper, you'll find most young hong kongers leave for economic reasons (lack of jobs, housing, etc), not for political reasons, althou they are encourage to say that. Also the convicted rioters are leaving to avoid prosecution. Think about it, would u leave your country over passage of an extradition law, (which most countries, including US & UK aleady have) ?
They become jobless, homeless or working minimum wage jobs and treated as second class citizens in UK now.
Exactly, that is my observation too, and their illusion will be broken very soon.
Great film quality, you guys had a crew following a 15 year old running away from home without her parents knowledge. I hope you got the story you wanted.
It's weird that they don't seem moved by the idea of a minor running away from home , abandoning everything she knows to live in a foreign country funded by anonymous donors I assume. There is a sleazy element to this and the journalists are not even self aware enough to comment on it
you got the point, Steve.

Well, they only have themselves to blame! Since they don't even have " CAN DO ATTITUDE" what the hell are going to do in other countries? Any please remember don't even try to protest the way you do in hk because the British police won't be so nice like the Hong Kong police 😉
Can someone please do a video on how the new security laws in HK different from those of UK, France, US etc
@Notger, Prince-évêque de Liège What are you talking about? You can criticize Hong Kong and Chinese leaders. That doesn't fall under Hong Kong's national security law. The one big difference concerns independence. In Scotland or Quebec, for example, you can push for independence. The NSL in HK criminalizes that.
@Notger, Prince-évêque de Liège Yes. That is not illegal. You won't get prosecuted for it. You seem to have been misinformed. If you then go on to say, 'so we should overthrow the government', that is where you run into risks.
