In my experience if the interview felt really good it means I won't get an offer. I generally get offers from the interviews that felt the most like a waste of time. I stopped trying to figure out if it went well or not.

Ultimately, I think every interview comes down to personality. Most interviewees will have similar qualifications and experience. It's those the interviewer feels a bond or connection with that gets the job.

I've had all these signs in an interview, especially the office tour, and then didn't get the job. And the interviewers didn't even respond back to say they weren't taking me on. When I chased them up, the HR person who had been communicating with me had even left the company (which they obviously knew at the time of the interview) so they were never going to tell me until I pursued them. I've learned in subsequent interviews that even the most positive signs don't seem to mean anything.

In regards to number 2, yes! I followed a bunch of your tips and thought the interview went really well, and I even knew someone at the company prior. Be careful about saying you know someone at the company. Years ago, I had a small company that was extremely interested and it really looked like it was just a matter of me deciding if I wanted the job. When I went to return one of their calls, I heard the name of someone on their voicemail system (you know, "for so and so, dial extension 123") who was a guy I worked with at my last job, but he didn't last long there. He was really more of an aquiatance, but I never had any sort of an issue with him and I couldn't imagine he had one with me. At some point I mentioned that I worked with him (more of "hey, small world" thing) , and pretty much after that the trail went completely cold. I'll never know for sure, and I couldn't imagine why he would have sabotgaged the situation, but they pretty much ghosted after that. The timing was so suspicious, I can only guess they asked him about me and his response was not favorable. Also, unless that person got you an interview, they may not be in the standing with the company they think they are and that could affect their willingness to hire you.

Interestingly enough; I've had all these happen me and still did not get the job - and got ghosted to boot. At the end of the day, and in my experience, interviewing is kind of a crap shoot - you just really don't know. All you can do is put your best foot forward, research the company and ask the appropriate questions. At the end of the day there are soooo many factors at play that you have no control over. I'll give a classic example - years ago I went through an interview process where I thought I did terrible on my first interview - then they called me the next day and flew me out to their location and I interviewed whole day and got the job at the end of the day - I could not believe it. And I was there over 5 years as one of their best account managers.

Yes! I had SIX! SIX!!!! interviews with the same company, which were more like relaxed discussions about my experience and the changes the company was going through (including extreme growth). A few days after the last round, when multiple members of the team offered up their contact emails in case of further questions, I got an auto-rejection email. The recruiter got back saying that feedback was positive, but they'd decided to "go another direction" with the role and hire someone with an entirely different background. My emotions have not recovered from being played with like this! What is going on within the organization when something like this happens?

I remember an interview process with HPE, killed every single one of my interviews. In the last one i was recommended by the previous manager to have an agresive approach and ask for the job at the end of the last interview, I remember i said, "when do I start?" The hiring manager said that was exactly what i was looking for! You nailed it! Yeeehaaw god bless america. And then when i received the call from the recruiter saying that they decided to hire only fresh out of college candidates. 3 months I'll never get back. I DONT TRUST ANYTHING ANYMORE.

I was once in an interview process for 5 or 6 rounds, met senior management, got an office tour but eventually they decided for someone else. The hiring manager was really exited to get me on board but be careful who is taking the decision. You can be LOVED by the hiring manager but if the big boss has a friend, internal connection or simply someone else they like, the CEO will prevail. I was pretty upset about it but now I think it was for the better.

A job interview is only aced if you receive a job offer. Everything else is fluff. Getting the job is all that matters. Not being shown the office, nor meeting other team members (who have the job BTW and you're just TRYING to get it).
If someone tells you they aced the interview, ask them when their start date is. Most times they didn't ace anything. There are often times you go to an interview and you're dead on arrival because the CIO's son just graduated from college and needs a job. Or your skin tone/voice/gender may have cost you.

A great number of people are in management and HR because they are people oriented, friendly. They know how to make a candidate feel relaxed, confident and at ease. So much so, that you may get the impression the interview went well when it didn’t. There are no cues or indications you got the job because you don’t really have sure way to know what the interviewer is thinking. The CFOs son may already have the job or your race/gender/looks, etc may have lost you the job. Until you have an actual offer, you don’t know how anything went

I've had a job interview where I met their partners for the second time in two different offices across the country and they asked me whether I'd be okay if so and so is on the contract. In addition to that, they asked me whether I'd be committed if they were to give me an offer this month. At the end, no offer.

Point #1 - not all companies give our interviewers information most of the time you only have recruiters email and that recruiter is way too busy to respond to emails as thank you letter or status
Part #3 we give all our candidates tour because we want them to calm down before they meet their first panelist
Part #4 coordinators job is to work around your schedule it’s their goal to get you to interview for them so they will work around your availability first
Part #5 if it goes short you and your interviewers may be super efficient and speak fast or your responses took so long that the interview got extended because they want to ask all of their questions

There were two new people that interviewed me and the other person was the same one from my first interview so i hear from them in a few weeks. in the second interview, i would ask them does that answer your question after they asked me some and then would ask them do you have any questions for me ended up having a nice discussion. they used you many times in the interview. all these things you said some of them did happen and it was really nice. they could tell how passionate i was and my work experience as well. some questions were tough where i tripped up a bit and kept saying the same thing over again due to being nervous but i kept pushing through until the end. thank you for your tips they really helped me

The office tour or in my industry lab tour after the interview is not only standard it is a part of the interview that not many interviewees know about. It is usually done by someone you would work with on a daily basis. They will look for enthusiasm and whether you ask the right questions about the place. It is also a great time to get the interviewee into a more relaxed post-interview state of mind and then see their true persona aka whether they put on a mask in the interview to appear better. You might have done well in the interview, but the tour could cost you the job. We had someone on the tour seriously ask the junior staff how they were coping with having a female boss... Thanks, that's a no from us.

Yeah, this sign sounds good on the surface, but I have heard numerous companies say that showing a candidate around and even introducing you to a few random people who happen to be in the area is a part of the interview and it's done with every candidate. I've gotten quite a few "tours" where I didn't receive an offer, and gotten offers from places where I never received a tour. I wouldn't put too much stock into this one.

What if one of the interviewers from the panel, upon completion of the interview, decides to walk with you until you leave the building and starts asking you questions like how long have you worked for such and such etc. almost like getting more of a feel for you. Usually most people that would interview a person don’t normally walk a person to the door and sign them out on the sign in and out clipboard by the security guards. I was pissed and my sass came out and I was like "You realize I put my two weeks in" this lady had the nerve to say "you put your two weeks in before you started?" Like bro, when else am I going to put it in? Since then, whenever a friend is looking for a job I tell them not to apply there (won't say it here though) and those that don't listen that go in there end up being miserable and I have to hold my tongue to not say I told them so.

I interviewed on Friday, and at the end, the hiring manager said she has to connect with the search team and then HR, but that I should hear back within the next week or two. On Monday, I received an update email in which she thanked me for coming in, said the whole team was impressed with my interview, and hoped/asked if I was still interested in the position. I responded, and later that day, I got an auto email from HireRight for a bg check. Today, she checked in again and said I was a finalist and should complete the bg check and that she'd be in touch soon. Is it pretty safe to assume that I will get the job, contingent on the results?! The word "finalist" is throwing me off!! Strangly enough, they didn't ask for references during the Zoom interview. I sent several follow up emails & the answer was the same 'I did great & they like me, my info is still sitting on the director's desk'. It's been just over a month & no offer. I sent one more quick follow up email a few days ago & no reply from the recruiter. This hospital is famous for taking a long time to make an offer.
