It almost seems like they had a French person write the lyrics by interpreting the scene with no sound...
    "Chocolate will help me"?

    • @o00eve00o

In English it's "I wanna stuff chocolate into my face"?!! Sounds quite dumb! French lyrics "Chocolate will help me to face him" are better! Both mean that chocolate is the most efficient natural anti stress.

Well they did have to rhyme something with “sophisticated grace.” I’m glad they didn’t go with the original lyrics of “I hope I don’t vomit in his face!”

I have to pass an upper level language class to graduate from my University and I've gotten so rusty at the French I took a long time ago, but boy does watching these videos help! We always learned mostly via writing so my ear for it is horrible, but having both the written part and its translation on-screen does wonders for my memory. Thank you. :)

0:19 It's funny, she says "J'était seule" in english "I was alone". But "J'était seule" hears like "J'ai des ailes" that means "I have wings". And at this moment, she makes a wings form with his hands.
it's like she says "Before, I was alone but now I have wings"

Really good translation. However, about "Mettre les petits plats dans les grands" it's an idiom meaning "Put on a great spread" in English or "Fare le cose in grande stile" in Italian.

I was extremely impressed with the 50 multilanguage video. I wanted to thank you but the comment section was cut off. I read it was a difficult project. But, one I valued tremendously. I read Spanish, Portuguese, french, Italian, learning German, Latin, y oh course college English. I flirt y can say pleasantries in 19. I bathe in languages. I used to be a marathon runner y now I devote much of my time to linguistics. All your efforts have been very much appreciated. Please, don't stop here. Merci beaucoup, grazie, danke schon, obrigada, knob chai, salamat, or chow, spaciba, multulesc, madasi, darlo, Asante, tenke, gracias, Toda, etc.........

    Qui me donne tellement d'espoir...

    MAGNIFICA!!!

    • @tomda1576
      @tomda1576 6 років тому

Ed in francese " All'alba sorgero' " è "Je me lèverai à l'aube " .

I didn't like this translation (the singing was lovely) because it made Anna seem too silly and superficial. The lyrics to the original make her seem so hopeful, that her longing for romance is a wish to escape loneliness and isolation, but here it just seems like she wants to wear a satin dress, meet a cute guy and 'do what she likes'. On the other hand, this is the only translation that explains why she has to eat a ton of chocolate.

    • @JacklynnOliveira

Well, the French language doesn't rhyme the same way English does. They have to find other words to make it rhyme. Like in "Let it go" The French version was called "Liberee Delivree" That means: Freed and Released.

I guess original song composers haven't really think about translation of Frozen songs as Menken-Ashman made for other Disney movies. IMO.
