    Hello,
    Desperate for help. We bought a house with 70 years of nicotine staining. They put a layer of Killz on the wall before we moved in so we didn’t know and now it is seeping through. We have tiny kids so we are wanting to make sure our hard work isn’t in vain.
    Do you know how well this works over the years. Will the nicotine seep through afterwards. Have you had clients tell you that it was still working years later?

    • @danielnugentpainteranddeco557

      Yes the job I did still looks good to this day as I have worked on the same house recent.
      The beauty of Coverstain is you can paint waterbased products over it. The zinsser cover stain also kills off the smell of nicotine aswell.
      I've never used Killz but it probably does the same job and with the same outcome so all good 👍🏻

    A quick question.. I've just been painting an old table using the Zinnser Cover Stain and it seems pretty hard to brush on ... the paint seems to get tacky very quickly. Is this normal ?
    I ended up just bushing on and not bothering about all brush strokes going in the same direction. Hopefully, when I put on the top coats of paint, everything will be fine. Do I have to sand the primer before adding the top coats (water based Satinwood paint from Dulux)

    • @danielnugent2168
      @danielnugent2168 3 роки тому +4

      Hi. Yes its very quick drying. If you add a touch of white spirits to it you will get a better flow. I would have used a short pile micro fibre roller sleeve for the large areas. But yes give the primer a rub down with a 120 grit paper then I would use about 3 top coats of the Dulux satin. Try and get a roller for the satin as it will go off really quick being waterbased. Add a touch of water to your paint for the flow. Cheers Dan

      @@danielnugent2168 White Spirit dilutes the product but does nothing to slow down the evaporation of White Spirit itself. There may be a higher percentage of metallic driers in the paint compared to other oil based paints.
