There is no way this so-called "babysitter" just forgot the baby in her vehicle for five hours while texting the mother of this precious baby. Come on, people, use your common sense. How unfair to put this mom through the nightmare again. Whatever anyone has to say it makes no difference as to what the defendant did. We have a pretty messed up justice system when victims are re-victimized over and over just to protect the rights of criminals. As far as I'm concerned once there is enough evidence that the defendant has done what they're accused of, they've lost their rights. Our justice system needs to start protecting crime victims, not criminals!
Unfortunately people get off on horrendous crimes if evidence is omitted. All evidence is needed to ensure a conviction. This defendant is facing life in prison so they need all the relevant evidence. Witnesses like the mom here meet with prosecutors and are informed of such evidence so they are aware of what the state will bring up. It is heartbreaking but I wouldn't want a defendant to get off if evidence is left out.
@doloresleyva8810 yes, I understand, I'm just saying that the justice system should make some changes to protect the victims and their families instead of the criminals.
I dont buy the babysitter's story. Rhonda texted Brooke but forgot she had the baby in the car? Rhonda had a habit of leaving Ariya in the car and got distracted that day and never went back to get her. Thats my opinion.
Exactly! Her job is being a babysitter… how tf do you just randomly forget you’re working! The child isn’t in your face like the other kids are in yet you don’t notice… something has been wrong and it didn’t just start that day she left the baby in there!!

After watching lots of this case, I don’t think the babysitter did this intentionally at all and she felt beyond awful from the get go, admitting it immediately. Not making any excuses, but just because she’s not crying in a moment doesn’t mean she hasn’t been. I can’t even imagine how awful the parents feel Ug
The defendant looks like she’s hyperventilating when she sees the diaper bag. She’s not emotionless, she looks like she’s trying to not cry. Maybe she feels like she doesn’t deserve to cry in front of the mother whose life she destroyed. Infant car deaths are more common than anyone realizes, same with toddler pool deaths. Usually the parents are responsible. This case is only different because another parent babysitter is the one responsible for an accidental child death.
I honestly don’t know how a mother survives something so horrific as this. How do you stop thinking about your sweet baby suffering in her car seat in the blazing heat and can’t breathe? Oh my gosh… that precious mother and father….

That lawyer dragging out all of her baby's belongings and parading them out in mom's face , let alone the jury. No need to do any of that and only helped to open up the mother's unbearable pain. Did the jury need to look at those items ? I think not!!
Why is that poor mother being tortured with photos, baby clothes, rugs etc belonging to her dead baby ? This is horrific treatment given out to someone who is suffering and has done no wrong at all.

I think that the babysitter genuinely forgot about the baby, but that doesn't mean she should be free of any consequences. At the very least, this is unintentional homicide. This is an awful situation all around. I hope that this will teach people who are in charge of the vulnerable (kids, pets, elderly, disabled, etc.) to double check their vehicles when leaving.
@Ania-cd2sh I'm sure that this won't stop happening, but hopefully, a few people watching this video will remember baby Ariya and check their back seats even if there is no one there. I want to believe that this sweet baby girl will prevent some unnecessary deaths, no matter how few.

You have to watch who watches your children. I wouldn't let my best friend take my son out. I didn't trust my son with her. She didn't like it & I didn't care. He was 4 then he's 40 now.
I think the lawyer was trying to show, that even under those circumstances, the mother had an impeccable memory of every detail, lending to her credibility on the stand. He was also showing that the mom was not there to lie to get a conviction.
Same! And the grandmother of the little baby must have been frantic with worry on the phone when she was trying to help give instructions for CPR. I can't imagine what she was going through either. This is absolutely heartbreaking. 😢
To show how the mom planned and packed for Ariya to have stuff with her. It shows how the mom was thoughtful and cared. It gives life to the tragedy and gives life to a baby who tragically passed due to gross negligence.
Why… why did this human make that mother go through this AGAIN. The pictures of her passed angel, the car seat. This is such a cruel thing to this momma. I get that she wants a light sentence or even get off with no punishment, however a truely remorseful human would have plead guilty to not cause more anxiety to a grieving mother, our justice system is so FKD up that a first time mother lost her child & year + later has to relive this in such a way. You are so strong, I admire you darlin. You will ALWAYS be a momma luv, your angel will forever be with you. How curious, Rhonda was so upset she couldn’t figure out how to work her phone she was so distraught she wet herself & was throwing up, yet she had presence of mind to not take a deceased child in house in front of the other children, (obviously because she took her into garage instead of inside) but no presence of mind within 10 minutes of leaving the child’s home that she even had her in the vehicle.
The defense is trying to show that the sitter was confused by the date change. And also trying to say that them texting about things other than the baby was normal and shouldn’t have necessarily reminded her of having the baby and that the parents had no reason to believe the baby was in danger. It’s gross. But everyone is entitled to representation. The sitter should have never made them go through a trial. 1:07:36

It's procedural. The state has to formally enter the pictures into evidence, and the witness/mother has to id the pictures. Those are the rules for entering any evidence like that in court.
It is evidence for the jury and judge. This is part of the judicial process and is used to prove evidence and then find the defendant guilty.

This sadly happens sometimes. It's often the parents who do it, too. If it was a genuine accident, which is appears that it was, she shouldn't be locked away forever. There are consequences when you outsource childcare to someone else. Children die more often in the care of someone other than their parents, statistically. If you want to lessen the chance of this happening, raise your own kids. No career is worth a dead child.

There is no way this so-called "babysitter" just forgot the baby in her vehicle for five hours while texting the mother of this precious baby. Come on, people, use your common sense. To make matters worse, the "babysitter" put the family through a trial where they had to see pictures of their deceased baby girl and relive the most traumatic day of their lives. That is incredibly disturbing. This woman should have negotiated a plea deal or pleaded guilty to the charges related to the child's death, sparing the parents from having to endure this traumatic trial.
I agree 1000 %
Common sense shows there is no motive. she isn’t a parent wanting to get rid her child . if she didn’t want the child she didn’t have to babysit. So no I don’t think she intentionally left a child and risked jail time .

If you get out of the car you take the baby with you. At all times. Even if they are asleep. Especially on hot days.
The impact of the victims statements are important
Unfortunately people get off on horrendous crimes if evidence is omitted. All evidence is needed to ensure a conviction. This defendant is facing life in prison so they need all the relevant evidence. Witnesses like the mom here meet with prosecutors and are informed of such evidence so they are aware of what the state will bring up.
It is heartbreaking but I wouldn't want a defendant to get off if evidence is left out.
@doloresleyva8810 yes, I understand, I'm just saying that the justice system should make some changes to protect the victims and their families instead of the criminals.
Agree while heartedly!
It helps convict the defendant
I dont buy the babysitter's story. Rhonda texted Brooke but forgot she had the baby in the car? Rhonda had a habit of leaving Ariya in the car and got distracted that day and never went back to get her. Thats my opinion.
Definitely conceivable! I think you’re probably right!!
Exactly! Her job is being a babysitter… how tf do you just randomly forget you’re working! The child isn’t in your face like the other kids are in yet you don’t notice… something has been wrong and it didn’t just start that day she left the baby in there!!
Just my thought, but distraction these days….constantly on the phone, texting, etc., VERY inconsistent schedules…it’s amazing that more tragedies like this don’t happen! I feel so sorry for these sweet parents, but also (less so, but still) for that woman who didn’t mean to cause such a horrific outcome in the lives of that precious baby’s family; she ALSO is forever wounded and changed! No winners here!
I think she did more than one time! I don’t think it was only that day!
She also judged that Stacy woman for staying at her own house an extra 15 minutes, yet she does this??
And how could she have texted the baby’s mother and still not remember the baby? It’s seems impossible.

She has no tears actions speak louder than words.
I bet you when she gets sentenced you will see real tears because she only cares about her self
