    Homemade Elderberry Syrup:
    1 cup dried elderberries
    2 cups filtered water
    1/2 cup raw local honey
    optional add ins:
    2 tbsp fresh grated ginger
    1 cinnamon stick
    1 tsp fresh cloves
Bring the elderberries and water to a boil, along with the other ingredients if desired, then reduce to a simmer and let simmer for 30-45 minutes. Remove from the heat and cover with a lid to let steep for about an hour. Once cooled, strain the elderberries and squeeze all of the liquid out. Squeeze as much as you can out of the berries so the syrup is concentrated. Add in the honey at the end and mix well. Store in the fridge.
I take 1 tablespoon each day, 5 days a week. If I am sick or my immune system feels low, I double that amount.
If you’re on strict keto there are recipes without honey that use vegetable glycerin instead if that’s what you desire. Organic Olivia sells a syrup without sugar!

I actually cultivate elderberry. I produce enough syrup for my whole family to have about a tablespoon a day throughout the entirety of cold and flu season. I stick to that regime and I would have to strain to recall the last time I was sick with anything. For those wanting to make your own, be aware that on its own the syrup has a rather musky/mushroomy flavor, and can be sweetened with honey and flavored with cloves without ill effect. Also, if you have more than you're going to use in a couple of months, just freeze the extra or it can mold. I keep all of mine frozen and just scrap about a tablespoon out in the morning to take with my other suppliments.

Also, normal PH level is 7.35 to 7.45 many people round to 7.4 When you feel an illness such as a virus coming on, slightly raise the PH to maybe 7.5+ for short periods of time, like a few days and it will do wonders to fight off sickness/viruses. I use Sodium Bicarbonate as well as a moderate amount of vegetables to maintain the proper PH level and to elevate it slightly at times when necessary but, I have found when I maintain my PH level as close to 7.4 as possible that I don't get sick. Only when I don't pay attention because I get busy working or with other activities and my PH level drops slightly do I ever feel like something is coming on. Important to know that I only take Sodium Bicarbonate 2 hrs. before a meal or, 3 hrs. after a meal to avoid digestion issues. Also worth noting, I am not vegetarian or vegan. I consume NO sugar, processed carbs & eat only organic Whole Foods in approximately an 8 hour period & fast for about 16 hours drinking water with minerals during that time. I also breath through my nose and not my mouth. This is important for the correct intake of Carbon Dioxide to convert to the proper amount of Oxygen delivered to your blood, tissues & cells. The Standard American Diet, in my opinion, is not only making people sick but, slowly killing them. It's also extremely important to keep our Magnesium & Potassium as well as, all minerals that our bodies require at the proper levels. I'm not a doctor giving medical advice, just sharing my experience that has kept me healthy over the last several decades. Great video Dr. Berg! Thanks for all the valuable information you have given us over the years.

    • @mercadescage
      @mercadescage Рік тому

This is fascinating? I do have a question though, how do you feel about the fact that catching a common cold has been known to preserve the length of telomeres? I hear people talk quite often about trying to avoid getting sick, when there are proven benefits to getting mildly sick a few times a year.
I'm not often sick anymore as my children are beyond the toddler phase of catching everything, but I do work with the public.
Another factor with folks I've seen who never get sick is they don't have small children and they don't work a job around small kids, usually when they are then around new kids they catch things immediately regardless of their current immune system or health.
I'd love to know how you test your PH as well, I'm not truly wanting to avoid small colds as I do believe in immune suppression benefiting longevity, but I'd just like to see what my day to day PH is and how to help others test as well.
Thanks for the insightful comment and sharing your knowledge with others!

Some thing I noticed is that the aches and pains I have in the middle of the night are almost unnoticeable right now. I haven’t been taking any anti-inflammatories other than my usual, Boswellia. That’s why I came to the Internet to see if elderberries have anti-inflammatory properties. Anyway, thought I would share
