I am adopted from South Korea. I am 20 years old and i just want to let you know that i admire your generosity and compassion for giving your child a wonderful life. Not only that but you are giving every kid that is adopted from korea like myself hope. and most importantly love in our life's. Thank you thank you thank you
I loved this video. Your child is so sweet. And I loved how her foster mother was saddened by her departure. Shows this child was loved even prior to the adoption.
this was so beautiful, the love she received from her foster umma (mom), and the love she is receiving from you two are so inspirational :) thank you for lifting up my spirits
Thanks. She actually turns 18 next month so this is quite some time ago. She turned out to be a great young lady, never a bit of trouble. We are lucky..
She is 17 now and taller than her mother. She turned out to be a great young lady, confident and has always been a joy to be around. Her story had a happy ending...
AWWW! So bittersweet! it made me happy that she was so happy & willing to go with her new parents, but I teared up at her foster mother's goodbye tears! I also love how she was already calling them mommy & daddy!! ... and I definitely loved the black jack picture =]

Your video brought tears to my eyes because I wished for a family like yours. I was adopted from a Korean orphanage, but did not have a happy ending like your little one. The family that adopted me, there wasn't screening, no home visit, no background check, and I was tormented, abused in every way and by the time I was 7 I would pray for death. I am now in the process of starting an organization for adoptees who are like me. Thank you for treating her so well and keeping her culture too.
Sondra Anderson That is a real bummer. My wife and I both live in HK (40 years combined) and we adopted a Korean child locally. He was born to a young Korean expat. Both my wife and I speak Korean. He's in Korea regularly and goes to Korean International School every Saturday and one on one every Tuesday. He is loved as is his Jewish Korean Hong Kong-born identity. I'm also a member of a HK Adoption Group which is made up primarily of American couples looking to bring children with special needs into their homes. These (usually older) kids are in an orphanage. There appears to be an amazing amount of love and compassion in these people as well. I know this doesn't diminish your hurt, but I do think things have changed with regards to background checks and cultural sensitivity. HK, for example, will first and foremost place children within the same ethnicity. I think that's standard practice now. I also think we've progressed to a place where most people would respect - or at least consider - the birth culture of a child. The parents in that group certainly do. But, truly, the 'fix' will come when adoption in Asia is no longer seen as taboo. I hope you find peace in your journey.
She will be 17 in 3 weeks. Such a long time ago. She just arrive from Korea in that photo and I took her to the desert for a buggy race. She had no clue as to what was going on and didn't speak a word of English. It was just me and her that weekend so it was funny trying to communicate. If you want to see the buggy race there is a video called Powder puff Race I believe. I will try and find it and link it. Great memories..

Her English is just about fluent. She is very clever, nothing we did, just genetically very smart. She caught on so quickly that after 4 months of being home her Pre K teacher said she was ahead of most of the English born children in class. Maybe I will do a video where I ask her questions, it would blow people away at how fast she mastered the language.

@teammaddison The rules are you need an agency, and the process is long. You have to do homework, medical tests, visits from a psychologist, etc. It is a lot of money but worth it.. If you are in Korea as a resident I think it would be much easier but I am not sure of the process there.
