  • 2022 EP42: In this EPF video, I search for a very specific species of fish that is invasive to the state of NJ.
    [July 10th, 2022 (Fishing Sessions Number 73)]
    Read more about it below:
    Did you know that...?
👽...The first fishing session at Newton Lake in Collingswood, NJ, was on August of 2012. Alas...it has been almost ten years since I have first fished it. Up to date, I have caught more than 10 different species of fish from that watershed. Inner Circle Members can access its folder here: extremephillyf...
👽...Despite being a full time fishing UA-camr nowadays, I have a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Masters in Education from Temple University. I also thought about pursuing a PhD in Physics back in the days; though, I ended up opening a LLC and doing private tutoring instead.
👽...The 2022 New Jersey Fishing Digest states that anglers must kill all invasive species of fish that they catch, accidentally or not. You can check the full document here: www.nj.gov/dep....

When you were talking about invasive species that like to eat small fish I thought of many for California like largemouth bass, spotted bass, brown trout or striped bass... all those fish people get butt hurt over you keeping.

Keeping a few is fine. But ive literally saw people at my local lake haul 5 homer buckets full of bass out of a very pressured lake. And then people wanna know why all the fish are small. Well maybe some people should learn Catch and Release.

    • @nickna694
      @nickna694 2 роки тому

that seems like too much fish, what could they be doing with it? Maybe stocking their own pond. The max here in CA I've seen that is legal is 5 black bass any size from Shaver Lake.

Dude, Leo my man. I have a challenge for you... Catch one of the ridiculous amount of trout still left a Merry Place in Havertown PA. I spent 7 hours going up and down the creek chasing them yesterday with the EPF swim and trout magnet with NO luck! I caught 20 red breast, 3 smallies and 1 rock bass though lol. I fear these trout will die a dishonorable death if we don't catch them! Do they stop biting when the water gets too hot?

May I recommend Takanassee Lake in Monmouth County, NJ. My little childhood pond where my PB largemouth still stands at 5.5lbs.
Species I caught there: Largemouth, pickerel, white perch, yellow perch, bluegill, pumpkin seeds, bullhead, sucker, carp, roach, black crappie, stocked brook and rainbow trout, and eels.
Species rumored to exist there that I never caught: striped bass, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, rock bass, warmouth, green sunfish.

It's pickerelweed not spatterdock. Some purple flower spikes are on the bottom right. It looks like the water level went low and dried out the shallow shoreline. The tops are an even color tan of a plant that dried out fast. Without seeing it I'm not giving a definite explanation.

In nj u don't have to kill the snakeheads u can let em go or kill em but u cant keep them alive out of the water kind of a weird loophole law instead of just requiring u not to throw it back and kill them they don't. Which really makes no sense unless they figured they don't do anything and not that much of a threat to ecosystem.

@@extremephillyfishing so when was warmouth stocked in New Jersey and Delaware? Also white perch are by far the worst invasive fish followed by blue catfish they’ve ruined so many lakes in South Carolina.

@@bigrooster6893 a fish doesnt have to be stocked for it to become established in other watersheds. It gets in by migration and fishermen transporting fry (minnows) as bait and dumping them. Also, white perch are native to south Carolina its just that recently they found their way to the inland lakes.

The thing is people are stupid, and don't know how to identify fish. For example:
    Me: Catches rainbow trout
My dad: "Is that a bass?"
    Me:😐😑😐
