EhJO! VLOG: Annual Diturupa Carnival in Makapanstad

Every year on the 26th of December, the exciting Diturupa Carnival brings the village of Makapanstad to a standstill.
Troupes take to the streets in their colourful Scottish kilts and military uniforms. Their first stop is the Royal House of Bakgatla Ba Mosetlha where they sing, dance and pay homage to the royals.
Festivities then move to a football field where the troupes compete. They are judged on their dance routines, singing and costumes.
The carnival attracts thousands of spectators. It offers the perfect entertainment during the festive season when most people are on holiday and city dwellers return to the village to visit their families.
