    Thanks for the review. How loud is the small one compared to a sax?

    • @mostlysax
      @mostlysax  2 роки тому

      It’s much quieter but still capable of knocking out quite a sound but yes, certainly much quieter than a sax

    I bought the Nuvo Dood some days ago and the sound is not that bad, now your video convinced me to jump to the jsax, thank you for your good review.

    Im teaching my 5 year old recorder (since he was 4). I play sax so we r looking to transition at some point. Should i stick to recorder n move to sax or get this jsax instead?

      Oh wow, that is such a huge decision BUT my personal opinion would be to buy a JSAX for your little one. You will find it performs more like your sax than a recorder.

    great review! Is there any harm in starting my son who is 3 lol on one of these? He plays drums and piano but he wants sax, he had a toy one but broke it of course lol. thanks so much man and cheers from Miami!

      No, not at all - my 2 boys have enjoyed playing it and it’s strong enough to take a bit of a battering from the little ones. It is definitely a much better alternative to a proper sax. Plus, when he’s old enough to be able to manage a proper sax, he’ll fly. They’re nice and light and come with a strap - plus the reed is plastic so is stronger than the normal wooden alternative.
      Take care and good luck to your little man

    I'm an adult playing the Melodica which is a C instrument. I mostly use 2 octaves of the 3 there. I'm playing simple jazz, blues and rock tunes like Smooth Operator, Route 66, Songbird, Love Street, Careless Whisper, and Killing Me Softly, along with some bluesy improv using sharps and flats. Would the jSax be a good instrument for me to learn the same tunes?

      Terry Lyons - I’m afraid it wouldn’t no - it wouldn’t offer the range or the sharps & flats you would need. I would recommend looking into hiring a Sax for a few months and see how you feel about it. You could then choose to buy it or return it if it’s not for you. Hope this helps - thanks for getting in touch, Danny

    I've been considering checking it out because I'm a low brass player, so I'm not used to single reed instruments and find myself debating if I want to invest in a sax where I'd start from scratch or put that money towards another brass instrument I could be playing faster. Figured, with the straight extension parts, this plastic, soprano C sax would at least allow me to test out the embouchure differences while being able to play transverse ocarina music.

      Cysubtor - Good luck with it. Is there no option to hire a sax where you are? Might be a similar kind of price range and will give you a much better idea.

    Thanks for the great review Danny. It's a great time to learn to play an instrument.

      Max Clissold - no problem. It certainly is a good time to take up an instrument.

    what if I am an adult but I don't want to play a real sax. lol for a hundred bucks sounds like a good training program. I also play a keyless bamboo sax which sounds pretty good.

    • @mostlysax
      @mostlysax  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah - could be a good option 👌🏼

      @@mostlysax In my fantasies I would like a tenor but pretty apprehensive of the size and price of one. With the fingering being somewhat similar I'll see how this goes. Thanks mate. Is there a preferred reed than what comes stock with it ?

    but can it play careless whisper? Ive never played an instrument and im an older guy. it would be cool to learn this song.

    • @mostlysax
      @mostlysax  4 роки тому +1

      Enter User Name Here. - I’m my opinion, it wouldn’t be easy to play Careless Whisper on this Nuvo Sax. The range of the instrument isn’t great and even if you did manage to get up to the highest C# (highest note in CW) I think it would sound thin and strained. I’d get a proper Alto Sax 🎷

      @@mostlysax hey, thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll spend the bucks on a better sax if I can manage to learn to play the jSax. I appreciate your time.

      No problem - is there no option to hire an alto where you are? Might cost a similar amount as buying a JSax outright?
