“Where is my god where are you” gets me every time, that raw emotion on his face. As hard as S**cide might be, i think there’s a deep catharsis to what Ren brings to it.
❤Thank you for your heartfelt reaction……before you react to “For Joe”, please read Rens message in the description first…it’s a beautiful insight into what Ren was experiencing as he released this song. ❤
Love this one so bad!! Before you check out For Joe - please do freckled angels. The song Ren wrote shortly after losing Joe. He was sooo young back then... For me For Joe works better after having heard Freckled Angels...
Oh shit here comes one of the heavy hitter songs... its best to listen to this one twice. Because the end of the song explains the rest of the song. Which is such a weird yet beautiful way of doing it
I love that you are sooooooo into the music.... its not always hype music with Ren but every lyirc and every guitar strum has purpose. Its needed and needed in the world. The S word song is not easy.. the important thing to remember is He is okay now. It took about 10 tries to get through that one without tears. Ren being the special guy he his was worried after the drop and tooknto Twitch went live for 2 hours to make sure his Fans were okay and let us know that he is okay now. 😊
What’s powerful in watching Freckled Angels, How To Be Me, Su!c*de, and For Joe is you are able to see Ren work through the stages of grief. Music has the ability to tap into deep emotions and help heal.
If you’re going down to this particular area of the Ren rabbit hole, I suggest checking out Freckled Angels before Suicide and For Joe. It’s the first tribute Ren wrote for Joe and it is beautiful. I personally prefer the album version but there is a live version too. It’s a little messier as if Ren is rushing through parts, but then the performance was only like 8 months after the loss and the fact he got through it at all is immensely impressive. Ren is so raw and authentic with his art. It’s no wonder it hits us so hard. He is sharing real emotions and anyone who can relate or is capable of empathy will naturally be touched by it.
I'm so proud of you for opening up your mind to this whole world of music. I'm a metal head (mainly groove metal & hardcore) & but I love so many types of genres. I get on streaks, of blues, mo-town, dub step, drum & bass, hip-hop, grunge...good music is just that. I feel like I'd be robbing myself to so much good stuff if I kept in that bubble. The 90's had some of the best music & that era is so sad because all of my favorite artists are dead except for Eddie Vedder. I feel so lucky that I'm alive to hear Ren because I haven't been this excited about music since Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, etc... It's wonderful.
This was wonderful. Did you notice that neither one of them ever looks directly into the camera. Hard to believe that we can have such a strong connection to them. Without even one glance . Incredible.
This is definitely in my Ren top 3. Just incredible❤never get tired of watching people react to it. Thank you! Edit: Sweet Little Lady (live acoustic), Bongo Bong, Englishman in NY all Big Push
Chinchilla shines so brightly in this and helps to carry Ren through what must have been a highly emotive performance for him. I cannot ever recall seeing such chemistry between two performers as Ren and Chinchilla have - it's electrifying.
Hey Brother I am seeing how much you enjoying Ren and friends. Ren had a band by the name of Trick The Fox I think you should take a dive into them as well
A lot of us really appreciate the enthusiasm and emotional honesty you show in your reactions to Ren and Chinchilla and I've really been looking forward to each of your new videos. If you really want to learn a lot about Ren, he's been amazingly generous in doing interviews with several other reactors (Justin Hawkins, Knox Hill, Rosalie Reacts, Black Pegasus) and Chinchilla did an interview with Chris Liepe which are all worth watching, if you have enough time since they're all 1-2 hours long. They're not just great musicians, they're super-cool people.
Ren's gift for turning pain into beauty, while still allowing it to be pain, is remarkable. And hey, don't react to the hard ones until you're ready. You don't need to add to your own trauma for our entertainment. ❤
I never cease to be amazed by their timing on this one, and the way it can be heard from the perspective of those left behind after a tragedy, or the person struggling to stay. It hits so hard every time but is so beautiful.
I love your reactions man. I am also A rock and metal enthusiasts it's not just music it's a lifestyle you know. But Ren is just one of those artists that speaks to your soul and blissis your mind. It's like I always tell people if you make music about your issues or life I don't want to hear it but make me feel it ❤❤. I am from South Africa and show this man to all
Awesome Reaction again mate. Please Please Please Please please do Freckled Angels first, Then Suicide then For Joe It really makes a difference. Peace.
So hauntingly beautiful - the emotion the two of them bring to every performance is so - touching. Its like they allow us to deepest parts of their souls
I'm not only amazed that Ren and Chinchilla could do such amazing and challenging vocals, but that Ren could even hold it together enough to do ANY kind of vocals, knowing the story behind this. Also amazed that you could hold it together enough to do a reaction to it! The way they harmonize on the rising and falling "oh-oh-oh"'s reminds me of ghostly voices sighing through tree branches on a windy night.
Yeah in that order totally - there is no real preparing for the Suic* song whatsoever but ending on For Joe will help tremendously. Freckled>Suic*>For Joe. If it was me I would do them all same day and just rip the band aid off all at once.
This just shows how much Joe impacted Rens life....and how much he really meant to Ren....you have to do freckled angel the live and the recorded version .... And you said it beautifully! ...❤
As I've come to know Ren and how passionate and emotional his music is, I also feel it is uplifting to see an artist and his collaborators put so much of themselves into songs! It is emotionally moving and freeing! Ren's music has been so cathartic for me at a time when no other artist came close! I refer to Ren as Sir-Ren- ity! I've also been Renovated! Thank you for being you😊
Great reaction this song touches me every time I hear it I believe this video was filmed on the Menai bridge where Joe was last known to be 😢 which just adds to the performance. Glad I've finally found another Shinedown & Ren fan!
Great reaction as always. This is such a powerful song. Their chemistry is almost palpable. I recommend going down the REN Sam Tompkins rabbit hole too. They do a lot of covers, however the song Blind Eyed is one that they wrote together and it is super fun! There are a few different versions. MC Sessions and Angry Car Park attendant are the best. Also, REN and Chinchilla do some busking together that is super fun. Thanks for continuing to bring us these reactions!! ❤ BTW always open and excited for new content from you!!
Ok. I feel you know. I left a message on your reaction to Ren's Genesis wondering when, or if you were going to actually share HOW you personally relate to the songs and artists you choose. I get it a little more now and THANK YOU FOR SHARING your time and thoughts with us. Being in the public can be brutal! You are a BRAVE HUMAN. Great reaction!
I love Chalk Outlines but I don’t know why that gets requested so much more than this. It’s special. If you could put a sound to sorrow and pain it would be their hauntingly beautiful harmonies here.
Another artist you might want to check out is Dirt Miller. Ren recommended people check him out and shared a link to his song Kansas City. He is very talented and unique. Kansas City is really good. I haven’t heard one from him yet I didn’t like though I’ve only listened to 4 or 5 so there would be a lot I’d be hearing first time if you reacted to him. He does a guitar only song that shows off some really mad guitar skills.
I found you through Hi Ren, and you introduced me to Sleep Token. A group I would have shied away from because I thought metal, masks, and cloaks weren't my thing. To find out they are incredible. Looking forward to hearing what you learned in 7 months with Sleep Token. Sleep Token and Ren would be a killer collab.
Yeah. This is another one. Right in the heart and I bawl like a baby. (I think its the hallelujahs and then the cry for GOD) Lol. I am getting better though. I only teared up this time!!😂 Peace and love always until there is no more!😊❤
I agree. This song is agut punch. But SU!SIDE and For Joe are really love songs. Absolutely beautiful, gut-wrenching, emotional songs! They are clearly sad songs, while really being tributes to a freckled angel named Joe. Ren's love for Joe is so real that you will feel it, too.
I'm not sure why my comments keep being deleted when I'm most certainly not violating UA-cam's guidelines. All i said was id like to see you react to why my woman by Ren and the big push. Its definitely right up your alley. I swear there's not a genre Ren can't dominate. Everything I've heard from Rock, Rap, Bard, singing his heart out...... He's phenomenal on so many levels!
@@xRAGECXRCUSx it isn't only your channels. It is multiple times. So I'm like WTF UA-cam. Lol. I definitely think you'll appreciate the cinematography and the guitar. Blows me away every time
Hey man - great reaction 👍. Have watched a few of yours and have warmed to you now 😝🤣. Try doing a couple of Rens less serious ones that don’t get many reactions reviews - like his retakes of Fatboy Slim’s “Right Here, Right Now” and The Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony” 👍
The studio version is only superior in that it has strings that GO SO WELL with the flow/vibe 😍💜 honestly they both are incredible for different reasons! Don’t push yourself too hard, reactions are fun but forcing yourself to move too fast can be super counter productive to opening up safely/securely…lots of fun content to explore as emotional palette cleansers as well 👍 Looking forward to more of your reactions, I’ve even checked out some Sleep Token thanks to you 😁 definitely like that idea for original content, go for it! Love personal touches If you want another deep dive artist you could tackle BTS, they’ve been out long enough you could track their journey from the beginning and they have soooo much content, you could get really in depth with them, or just enjoy their music. The language barrier deters some people but they really are INCREDIBLE artists, individually so together it’s easy to see why/how they took the world by storm! If you haven’t heard of them at all they’re a K-pop group that debuted in 2013, BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan (Bullet Proof Boy Scouts). They debuted as a hip hop group with heavy counter culture themes (and eye liner 😂) and they’re progression through the years has been fun. They’ll even make you cry (watch Spring Day and read up on the Sewol Ferry incident 😢) but they say a lot of great things, and they’re suuuuuper dedicated to their fans (ARMY) and have a FREAKING HILARIOUS sort of relationship with them (like they constantly have “hot personalities” in music videos, and then they’re witless catastrophes irl and they call ARMY out for obsessing/being thirsty - see Pied Piper I think 😂) Anywho, that concludes this commentary segment of “I’ve said too much” tune in next time to see how I devolve from a simple “this was great” into a three part novel ✌️💜
This may be my favorite Ren song, if it's possible to have a favorite. Such a beautiful performance, and a great reaction - thank you for sharing it with us!
Every time I listen to this the harmonies make my heart swell. It’s a ride. I love it. You didn’t have to talk. It was all on your face. This reaction was spot on.
Amazing to me, is that the older i become... ( I'm in your oldest) viewership... The more i understand, over and over we go... I have forgotten how to be me many times in life... But, my decision in the night...is strength ❤
Wow. Yet again... just pulled emotions from the dark and exposed them to a bright light. I've been holding back on watching this one with Ren and Chinchilla, until the right time. After, watching some of your reacts to key vids of Rens. I decided this moment (I am alone at home) and you will be my partner so that I'm not alone when the pulling occurred. I made a great choice tonight. Ren is giving sound and sight to the unnamed inside and creating a proverbial road for us to gather as a whole... and put our feet in position for a first step toward a hopeful tomorrow. He seems to be our blessing that is leading this path towards accepting ourselves and that each of us truelly are not alone in our struggles and fragility. He is so brave to show us this. To be out in front putting his burdens in public for us ... because he has the talent to accurately paint the ugliness's picture ...like a mugshot of the beast eating us . One that we can all point at and say "that's the Motherfukker, that's the one👉) . Finally, this victim of life and myself, doesn't have to hide her face in shame and can meet Ren on that road to begin a journey to heal.
When they are together they are electric. I’ve lost too many family and friends to su1c1de. And we can’t say the word. Two very close friends of mine, both mothers, have lost children to su1c1de. One, her only child, a son. One her only two children, both young men. The hurt is hard for me to bear, I absolutely do not know how she carries the weight but she does. She has too. Thank you for your genuine reaction.
Hi Ben, this a moving track. I think I and others have mentioned Sam Tompkins, he’s in some street performance (busking) videos with Ren. He’s another great live artist.👍🇬🇧❤️
This song is just so gutslamming and ha ting but nonethless one of the best duets ever. Know you will get there sooner or later but Ren & Sam Tompkins are pretty wild as well 🤘🔥
You are such a beautiful soul ❤ I love your reaction to this!! Ren always hits you right in the feels so you did well there not to break. ❤ much love to you. ❤❤❤
Regarding "How to Be Me," Ren's best friend, Joe Hughes, committed suicide on the 27th of December, 2010 by jumping off the Menai Bridge, a large suspension bridge connecting the mainland to the Isle of Anglesey where Ren and Joe lived. Ren alluded to it in one of his songs, stating that he lost his best friend before he was 25. The pain of this loss is evident in a few of his songs. "How to Be Me," "Freckled Angels," "Su!cIde," and his latest release, “For Joe,” are specifically dedicated to Joe. Some people have claimed that the video was shot at the bridge that Ren's friend jumped from, however, that is misinformation according to some local residents. Ren recently posted some background on his relationship with Joe and the tragic suicide. Ren explained that he got a call from his friend Ella around 3 am saying that Joe was on the Menai Bridge, He’d been on the phone with her in tears saying goodbye. He told her to tell everyone he loved them. Ren went out on foot attempting to get to Joe while trying to reach him on the phone. Just minutes before Ren got to the bridge, his friend's cell phone went out of service. The Coast Guard started a search to no avail. Ren, friends, and volunteers unsuccessfully searched the shoreline for ten days; Joe’s body was never recovered. Ren’s and Chinchilla’s live performance of "Chalk Outlines" is still my favorite song, partly because I can relate to it more given my daily struggles. Although, losing one’s best friend to suicide is also something I experienced when I was 19 y/o (almost 38 years ago). “How to Be Me” definitely runs a close second, though. I would recommend you check out their busking sessions in Brighton, performing “Sexual Healing” (Marvin Gaye cover) and “One Dance / Drunk In Love” (Drake/Beyoncé cover); those performances are of a much lighter mood and very enjoyable.
Thanks for another great reaction 😊 I'd love to see your reactions to -Blind Eyed with Sam Tompkins (both the MC Live version and then the angry car park attendant one) -Freckled angels (live) -For Joe
It got me my friend, I just saw it a little bit ago, and it dud shatter me, omg, these two are magic together, like I told another reactor, I just don't have words for it, omg his music touches me sooo deep 😢 I can't help it, he makes me cry 😢. On a lighter note check out his live performance with her doing Sexual Healing, it was great 😉 And yeah,I love the originality, that's the other thing they do, they breathe new life into music, and I live them sooo much for it. Keep up these wonderful videos, I'm loving your content brother 🤗

Thing about his art is that knowing his back story it makes it connect with you so much more because its not made to make money its made to express.

This was wonderful.

Hard to believe that we can have such a strong connection to them.

Beautiful Reaction BTW 😍
Man, you've gotta do Love Music 1,2&3! Also the live version of Ren & Sam Tompkins; Blind Eyed.
If you do Ren & Sam singing Blind Eyed. You should do the one with the “angry car park assistant “. You’re doing a great job.
I concur
Absolutely!
I actually find this one much more deeper and heartfelt than Su*cide or For Joe.
Know you will get there sooner or later but Ren & Sam Tompkins are pretty wild as well 🤘🔥
Hallelujah Hallelujah..he has risen, he has risen..
For Joe was recorded in Calgary, you can see the Saddle Dome in the background
