I have been trying your “magic” to turn the key lock into acc mode but I’m having no luck. What size flat head screw driver did you use? My key lock looks like the one in the video but I can’t get it to turn. Also did you leave the ignition switch plugged in when you took the key lock cylinder out or did you disconnect everything before taking it out?
Yo Kayauto! Thanks for the upload! my 2015 elantra recently got stolen and after found the steering wheel column is pulled out and ignition cylinder exposed like seen in your video.
@@kayautoI recently just switched mine is 2013, but I think the new replacement causes communication issues and sometimes it idles weird and turns off! But only intermittently and it seems to run great after turning it off and on again? Any ideas?
Thanks for the video! They failed at stealing my gf's 2014 Elantra - replaced the back window and ignition assembly and it starts, but the instrument cluster (speedometer, fuel gauge) doesn't work now (along with shift interlock, which has an easy workaround). Tried unplugging the cluster, cleaning contacts, replacing fuse. The fuse socket isn't getting power. It did have moisture inside for ~1.5 weeks from melting snow. Any ideas?
You can use a flat head screwdriver and a hammer, put the flat head screw driver vertically and a bit offset from the middle of the bold head and hammer away
Hey, thanks for your comment so there is a little tab on the side of the key cylinder. You’re gonna have to find a pick tool that is gonna fit into the hole, then push it down and then put a flathead screwdriver to turn the key to accessory mode. thank you
If you replace the cylinder, you'll have 1-2 keys that came with the cylinder that you'll use to start the car, and your old keys/fob will work for the doors/anti-theft.
Thanks for the video ... I just use this video as guide and did the job in 15 mins thanks.. blessings
Glad it helped

How much would you say for a whole new ignition. Someone broke into my car and tried to use a usb but the wires are good ?
For new ignition, you’re looking around $600, depending on the year make and model
How do you remove the 2 bolts. They have no heads
You can use a flat head screwdriver and a hammer, put the flat head screw driver vertically and a bit offset from the middle of the bold head and hammer away
Question if the key is broken inside the cylinder? How do you get it to accessory mode to push the pin down to slide out ? Thank you
Hi you can use a lil tiny flat head screwdriver to turn it to accessory mode and it should be fine.
I just bought a new cylinder and switch. When I connect the two I can’t turn the key to lock to pull it out. Do you know how to fix this?
What’s the make and model of your car?
If you don’t mind me asking , how much for the whole assembly , I need to purchase one
I didn’t replace the whole assembly I only replaced the cylinder
In the video you bought a new lock key cylinder and ignition switch. Cant you of just replaced the cylinder and gotten the keys that go with it?
@@ch_gredx3733 in my case, they messed up the assembly too so I replaced the whole assembly including cylinder.
Looks like they're around $200 on ebay
Mine looks just like that, and I can't turn it to accessory mode. I need to know your magic trick please lol

Please make a video on it
@@kayautoPlease make a video on how to turn it accessory mode if Kia boys already broke it
Is this same as 2019 ? I need a ignition lock cylinder and ignition switch to repair ?
Hi Bradley, thanks for the comment 2019 is gonna be a little different because it’s a new model but it’s actually a little similar
Where can I find that ignition for Hyundai Elantra 2018?
Hyundai dealership
If I have a key fob, will I have to program again? It only came with a replacement key
If you only replace the key cylinder you don’t have to program but if you change the complete assembly then you have to program
If you replace the cylinder, you'll have 1-2 keys that came with the cylinder that you'll use to start the car, and your old keys/fob will work for the doors/anti-theft.
can this fit a 2016 Kia Sorento as well if I use Hyundai ?
No it won’t fit 2016 Kia Sorento
I have an anti theft on the ignition! Help it won’t release for replacement
Hi have the anti theft disconnected from the system and then it will release
How do you disconnect it?
How do you disconnect the anti theft?@@kayauto
Do you have a link to that part??
It’s a dealer part, kindly call your nearest Hyundai dealer and have your vin ready
You didn't have to program the key?
No I did not, because I didn’t change the whole unit,I only changed the key cylinder.
Got you. So even tho it's a different key it will still work? Or do you use the original key?
@@jimmybenavidez8118 the replacement cylinder usually comes with a new set of 2 keys
