This has convinced me that you could role play Old Gods of Appalachia using Werewolf the Forsaken. Many of these monsters, even the eldritch and unknowable ones, could easily be spirits from that game. And werewolves in that game have a spiritual connection to the land, and a job to keep the spirits of the land in balance.
