Honestly, with AMD APUs getting better every year (or two) and NVIDIA prices going up faster than their performance every generation, we'll hit a point where an APU has something like 4070 performance (in a few years) and plays 99% of games at 1440p and render GPUs from Nvidia for only enthusiasts. These APUs will play the majority of my catalogue at 1080p Ultra, maybe even 1440p for older games. Games are coming out less frequently that are actually worth buying nowadays, so year, hitting a point where GPUs may not be needed.
I wish AMD would try to compete with nvidia more ... the thing is that nvidia can't do those integrated APUs, since they don't have the x86 license, so the only nvidia handheld is Switch 1/2 which can be built on ARM, but that is no good for PCs (yet) - this way AMD is entrenching itself in the x86 console/PC handheld space, and is slowing innovation down and that will eventually be the death of AMD if they'll be still relying on raster performance so much, which will be less and less relevant in the future - in the best case scenario, Intel might take their place, or worse, once Valve and MS will perfect their x86 to ARM translation layers, nvidia will get a monopoly

Potentially, but we haven't seen any next-gen handhelds from AMD yet other than this literal 1. The Legion Go S are last-gen devices at best (maybe worse). So we will have to see what someone like ASUS launches this year.
The only thing that I don't like is if I'm playing a fighting game like SF6 and I accidentally press those buttons at the bottom of the D-pad. And if they were to keep those buttons; they should have an option to remap or disable all of the buttons.
These handhelds are moving in the right direction. I`m just gonna wait until they could run modern heavy games at 60fps 1080p on high settings with some RT
I like the looks. I'm not really excited for Stream OS. I'd rather have the Windows version because that's what I'm more familiar with. That said, I can see why it would be desirable for other people. I hope you feel better, ETA.
I'm in the market for the lego2. I'm hoping it'll have good functionality as a main computer for a while as well as gaming. Nothing to heavy. Just as a windows computer in the house. It'd be dope if it has TB5
The GO s looks awesome, I am just a bit concerned that the Z1 Extreme is already a bit outdated and won't hold up well in a few years from now. On the other hand I don't want to wait for the GO2 since we don't even have a release date for it right now :/
I currently have a steam deck LCD I always wanted the legion go but I couldn't really justify it if I already had the steam deck. I told my self if they make a legion go with an OLED I would get one. My god boys theu did it!
Personally, I find it hard to get excited for the Go S one given the weaker specs. I feel like the first handheld with steam OS officially supported should have come out swinging, even if it had to bump the price up a little bit. Perhaps using the Z2 Extreme chip variant. Hopefully I'm wrong, poor sales will hurt the gaming handheld movement.
I'm really content with the Asus Rog Ally Extreme. That being said I might give that Legion Go 2 a shot with the removable controllers. Gonna wait and see what they price it at.
Waiting for the Legion Go 2 but going to need to see more dedication and assurances from the software side from Lenovo. Had a Legion Go and sold it because of the subpar software support and went with the Ally X and never looked back. Lenovo can use some lessons from ASUS
I am leaning towards getting the Windows Version for the 32 gigs of RAM. The idea of having a 32 gig RAM SteamDeck is Very Appealing to me. With Value later this year making Steam OS Official for the Public to download and install on other devices, this is a Prime Candidate for Duo Booting. 4 TB SSD, Windows (For Cod and Madden), and Official Steam OS For Everything else. With 32 gigs of Ram..... imo this is going to make the Lego the New 🐐 in the PC Handheld World.
Looking on Best Buy, the $729 model looks to include the Z2G which I think is terrible value. It says it's equipped with 32GB of memory and 1TB of storage, which if paired with the Z2G seems woefully unbalanced. I hope it's a just a typo and it's actually the Z1E.
I think I will be waiting for 2025 April to get the Legion Go S running Steam OS with Z1 Extreme (I assume it will be more powerful than the Z2 Go). Of course It's a bit sad because I don't have any handheld right now. However my birthday is in April so might as well be a nice present for myself
Maybe, lets see how well it implements sleep mode with that new hardware. Even though it's using Steam OS they need to make sure sleep mode works just like the Steam Deck. The reason I love my Steam Deck Oled Limited is to put the Deck in sleep mode while playing a game, all I have to do is press the power button. When I want to resume, just press the power button on you're exactly where you left off. I owned both Asus Ally's and sleep mode was was absolutely unusable. The windows device manufactures really need to figure out how to create a sleep mode that works like the Steam Deck.
Lenovo should have left the touch pad out and just used the thumb stick and touch screen for mouse movements. It's just too small to be practical. I like that they are offering SteamOS but I'm curious how easy it would be to dual boot Windows too.
Do you think the Steam OS model would be a good upgrade from the Steam Deck OLED? I'm tempted to buy it since there are no news of a Steam Deck 2 coming out anytime soon.
Steam Deck has Custom Valve 4C/8T Zen 2 & 8CU's RDNA2 APU So, Z2 Go is a somewhat beefed-up version of that, with Zen 3+ (same C/T) and 12CU's RDNA2. But obviously the Z1 Extreme one would be the better one (8C/16T Zen 4 & 12 RDNA3).
I'm most interested in the SteamOS version, but I'm curious if either model features gyroscopes. Gyro aim is a pretty big deal for me, as aiming with just analog sticks feels a lot less stiff when playing on a console/handheld.
I was hoping for a Strix Halo handheld. The 385 would have been cool. Chunky boy and would need a big battery but the performance would be awesome. I was actually expecting a Zen 5c variant with the 8050S 32CU GPU. A missed opportunity.
They look cool but I am sticking with my original Steam Deck LCD, I am comfortable with my gaming PC at home. And also, Valve said they will make a Steam Deck 2 at some point in the future.
I won't be getting this (I'm happy with my Steam Deck for now) but this does make the future look very interesting and IMO brighter. I can't wait for the windows monopoly to be broken. Even if Linux can have a 10-15% market share (and bigger when it comes to dedicated gaming PC), I would consider it a huge success. I need up upgrade my desktop, but I refuse to stick with windows any longer. I know I can use Bazzite, but I'm okay with waiting for an official Steam OS release for desktops.
The drop in resolution to 1200p was actually a brilliant move. Lowers the cost of the device and makes it more practical since these chips can barely run anything at 1600p. The original LeGo would've been cheaper if they went with this route earlier too. I'm waiting for the LeGo 2. Really wish that 11 inch Acer device had an updated chipset, VRR, and OLED.
@andrewsolis2988 That is such a false statement. I regularly upscale to 1200p or 1600p and get more than playable FPS on my LeGo. The device is fine for that, it just tends to struggle more with native 1600p than anything.
@BigMacWitCheez What games? The games I play can not hit decent FPS. To say my statement is false is also false honestly as it depends on the games you play So you're telling me I am "false" in a blanket statement when games like Star Wars Outlaws and Indiana Jones exist 🤣😂 would have to play on low with performance upscaling with frame gen
I don’t see the benefit over a Steam Deck for the S when the performance is similar. Other than a larger screen but no OLED or VRR and having native Windows drivers for dual booting.
My youtube sound is broken...did he say anything about the speakers on these new devices ?...any improvement on the terrible ones on the original Legion Go ?
If steam really is taking their time with the steamdeck 2 the Legion go 2 has ticked all my boxes so far! 8inch, OLED , VRR, Z2 extreme and hall effect... ❤❤ And it's looks alot more nicer than the original. Plus I get to just have steam OS anyway? 😅 🎉
liked the legion go but sold it for the ally x for 3 things, the weight the annoying loud fans and last the drivers. If that thing still heavy like a brick then its a no go for me and if the fans are like a jet engine then its going to be annoying after 5 min playing. Another thing I want to point out on the detachable controllers is the speaker are on top and you know how that goes horrible sound quality was.

I really wish we got a proper release date for the Go 2 (Z2 Extreme). Thanks for covering this!
Oh' yes as I will be still keeping my original Legion from Launch, I will most definitely be buying the Legion GO 2. this is a no brainer
It's a shame the legion go 2 won't have forward facing speakers again.
Do you have eyes?
@@P1Volvo850R do YOU have eyes? It clearly has the speakers on top, just like the last model.
pretty sure it is a prototype so it can change
@@GrimAbstractIf you pause at 1:38 and zoom in, underneath the dpad and right thumb stick you can see the front facing speakers. What you saw on top is the exhaust for the cooling.
@hockeyduck3 that is not the legion go 2, that is the s
Finally waiting is over❤
When you say they “led you to believe” it has duel USB4, I found it pretty funny. I can imagine them trying to milk all the good out of it, even if it called for deception.
Im excited about the Legion Go 2 OLed model, They need to release it soon! I'm gonna Dual Boot that bad Larry 😂
Battery?
Having a wide choice of devices running steam os will be awesome!!!
I am running bazzite on my ROG ally which made the experience sooo much nicer than with windows. Official steam os support will make all these devices suitable for the mass. I see a bright future for handhelds. 🙂
Shame that Legion Go S used RDNA 2 GPU & ZEN 3 CPU, both already old compared to the latest one RDNA 3.5 GPU & ZEN 5 CPU inside Legion Go 2
I love my go. I’m very interested in where the next is going.
Looks really nice 😊
VRR and 8” display! Can’t wait for the steam version
This gonna be the king of handhelds
Doubtful
Potentially, but we haven't seen any next-gen handhelds from AMD yet other than this literal 1.
The Legion Go S are last-gen devices at best (maybe worse). So we will have to see what someone like ASUS launches this year.
The only thing that I don't like is if I'm playing a fighting game like SF6 and I accidentally press those buttons at the bottom of the D-pad. And if they were to keep those buttons; they should have an option to remap or disable all of the buttons.
Waiting for Legion Go 2, 32gb ram will be great for gaming and portable windows pc for me.
These handhelds are moving in the right direction. I`m just gonna wait until they could run modern heavy games at 60fps 1080p on high settings with some RT
Waiting for SteamOS version of Legion Go S. Since my country doesn't officially have Valve Steam Deck, this is the closest thing we can get.
Im glad I waited for the LeGo, was about to get the new claw, but the lenovo tech support is wy better in my country, so hell yeah
Time of handhelds is now! We need Steam Os for most mobile chipsets!
Waiting on LeGo 2, that device gonna be a monsta
VRR OLED🤤🤤🤤
Personally, I find it hard to get excited for the Go S one given the weaker specs. I feel like the first handheld with steam OS officially supported should have come out swinging, even if it had to bump the price up a little bit. Perhaps using the Z2 Extreme chip variant. Hopefully I'm wrong, poor sales will hurt the gaming handheld movement.
Finally, the comparison with the MSI Intel will soon be able to be made. Who will have the best price-autonomy-performance ratio?
Why not OLED screen?
Why not big track pad?
Why not fingerprint?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Finally 2 usbc slots. That one jf the snall details that 2iuld change a lot on these mobile handhekd PCs
The trackpad is the size of a thumb. How are you supposed to use that?
The new best SteamOS machine!
The Z2 Extreme seems like an HX 360 with the GPU specs of an HX 375. I'm sure it'll be very high up on the performance per watt chart again
Steam Deck has Custom Valve 4C/8T Zen 2 & 8CU's RDNA2 APU
So, Z2 Go is a somewhat beefed-up version of that, with Zen 3+ (same C/T) and 12CU's RDNA2.
Great video bro.
Quick question which is better Z1 Extreme or Z2 Go?
I was hoping for a Strix Halo handheld. The 385 would have been cool. Chunky boy and would need a big battery but the performance would be awesome. I was actually expecting a Zen 5c variant with the 8050S 32CU GPU. A missed opportunity.
I wonder how much more powerful it’s going to be than the Go 1. I have it and I love it. I will never be able to get the Go 2 so I’m just wondering
Im Ready to Buy Eta Im FUCKING READY
Legion Go 2 will be what finally replaces my Steam Deck.
They look cool but I am sticking with my original Steam Deck LCD, I am comfortable with my gaming PC at home. And also, Valve said they will make a Steam Deck 2 at some point in the future.
Cant WAIT to get the legion go 2. Hopefully they release it by feb or march wanna play wilds on it lol
It will mostly not come out until October, since it is still a "prototype" as they called it
I really want it too, but I think that it will not be out until Q3 - so like September time.
Man why didn’t Lenovo add 4 back peddles like the steam deck 😭 I love having 4 I use my running, crouch/slide, jump button & knife button with all 4
the price has to make sense
if it doesnt, i just dont see anyone buying this over a rog ally x or steam deck
Wonder how big the battery will be in the go 2. Pair with a more power efficient chip like the z 2 extreme.
Any word from the Lenovo team about updating drivers for the current Legion Go? AFMF2 would be nice to have.
It can run literally anything with lossless scaling and it looks great
@@P1Volvo850R Frame gen isn't good and not everyone likes it
They can barely run anything at 1080p with upscaling at decent fps 😂
@andrewsolis2988 That is such a false statement. I regularly upscale to 1200p or 1600p and get more than playable FPS on my LeGo. The device is fine for that, it just tends to struggle more with native 1600p than anything.
@BigMacWitCheez What games? The games I play can not hit decent FPS.
To say my statement is false is also false honestly as it depends on the games you play
So you're telling me I am "false" in a blanket statement when games like Star Wars Outlaws and Indiana Jones exist 🤣😂 would have to play on low with performance upscaling with frame gen
Can't wait the Steam OS one.
The new game gear is back great.
Correction, the Z2 extreme has 4 less cores than the HX370, not 2
Im really interested in the Legion Go S Windows but unsure if its worth changing from an OG legion Go
hey ETA does the go 2 would have keyboard accessories ?
3:58 oh no
I don’t see the benefit over a Steam Deck for the S when the performance is similar.
Hope they will sell the controller separately to use with the current legion go
liked the legion go but sold it for the ally x for 3 things, the weight the annoying loud fans and last the drivers. If that thing still heavy like a brick then its a no go for me and if the fans are like a jet engine then its going to be annoying after 5 min playing. Another thing I want to point out on the detachable controllers is the speaker are on top and you know how that goes horrible sound quality was.
