    Even though I know all this stuff, Colin's Lab has always been one of my favorite video segments! Used to watch it on Make, but I am glad that you are continuing on adafruit. The only thing I would like is more frequent videos, but I can't complain.

    Collin could make a video about watching paint dry and I would still watch it. Favorite UA-camr for sure : )

      He'd be like "at first glance this may appear as simple paint drying, but let's look deeper" 😂😂

      +Adafruit Industries I got the pot to control the light but I could only get it to turn it off/on instead of fading in/out. My code is identical to his. Any ideas?

    • @dhavalmysore
      @dhavalmysore 8 років тому

      +Samuel West Have you connected your pot input to analog pin 0 (A)? In his code, where he reads the pot input, he reads it from analog input 0. But in the setup(), he still has it as pin 7 (digital), which ideally doesn't matter (if you are not using that), but I can see it may cause confusion. So go ahead and connect your pot to A0, if you haven't already. Also don't worry about setting A0 pin as input, that is optional.

      Samuel, you need to use a PWM pin, marked with ~

    • @RoboGenesHimanshuVerma
      @RoboGenesHimanshuVerma 5 років тому

      Because on Arduino the analogRead gives 10 bit output, but analogWrite takes only 8 bit input. Now 2^10 is 1024, but 2^8 is 256. So 1024/256 is 4. So he mapped the 10 bits to 8 bit by ignoring 2 bits on LSB side (divide by 4 is just right shift by 2 bits).

      That's only somewhat correct. If you need more than 17 pins, then yes, you need an Arduino Mega. But if you use something like an integrated circuit that can be controlled with only a few pins, you can use an Uno.
