The way Jack tucked his head yet smiled kinda big when Murray left the room after yelling “I’M DEAF!”, and the way Jack and Tony were sitting there crackin’ each other up near the end…OMG, I adore this show. ♥️♥️♥️
one of the greatest sitcoms ever. never got the respect it deserved when it was on the air. every one to two years i take out the dvds, and i still laugh. klugman and randall were geniuses the way they played felix and oscar. no better.
It was a wonderfully inventive, creative and hilarious show! I think what made them so incredible was the fact that everyone involved worked so hard to make it a classic! Garry Marshall, Jerry Belson, Harvey Miller and Jack and Tony were the driving forces of that show. Jack and Tony stayed up all night with the writers to fix the scripts and that work ethic is what made this show one of the greatest comedies ever! No one works that hard on television today and you can tell
@Roger B they just didn't know what they had, man. It should have never been on Friday nights, The Odd Couple is not a Friday show. I honestly think they should've been on CBS with the Saturday night powerhouse schedule that would've got them the eyeballs to really soar. But at the end of the day syndication made this show the mega hit it deserved to be all along
I don't care what anybody says Tony and Jack WERE Felix and Oscar! Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon might have made them famous but Jack and.Tony perfected them!
Ever notice how Oscar gets his room back to the way he likes it in just a few short hours? Truly the work of a master slobsman. Have to join the prevailing sentiment: this show has to be one of the best sitcoms ever.
This is one of my favorite clips from The Odd Couple. I loved this show and the entire cast was brilliant. RIP Jack, Tony, Al They don't make shows like this anymore.
A true classic and the best Odd Couple ever! The other reboots were never like this “True Classic”! I can remember as a kid, the reruns would come on late at night, right after The Honeymooners! Tony and Jack were “perfect”! I also liked Al Molinaro (Murray The Cop) and Penny Marshall’s role too! 👍👍
I was born in'65, and I watched this show in the mid-seventies. I always had fond memories of this show because my sisters and brothers loved. Recently I was watching an episode of "that's My Line" in which Tony Randle was a panelist, so I thought I'd watch an episode of "The odd Couple", and found this episode particularly (UA-cam). Suddenly, I understood Oscar's constant consternation with Felix over the course of the show! Felix, too much performs the functions of Oscar's ex-wife, triggering instincts and feelings within Oscar he was not comfortable with. There are certain simple and innocent things my Ex-wife did for me, I can't share with anyone else.
I wish the clip included the bit where Felix sings “Together Wherever We Go”, and each time Felix inched his chair closer to Oscar, Oscar inched his chair away from Felix. Great moment. Great show.
Those of us whom love The Odd Couple have noticed many inconsistencies, especially when it comes music. Such as the last episode when Oscar sings “I’m Singing In The Rain “ has been deleted. Maybe it’s a copy write law?
Man I loved this show....I used to watch this when I was a kid....and right after this the Night Stalker would come on...forget what night though..ABC/NBC,,,NY
1: 23 - Priceless look on Jack Klugman's face laughing at Murray. I remember seeing this as a kid and they had "Honk" written on the chalkboard, "Must be raising geese. " - Never forgot that line!
There was a lot of love in this series. They were very good for each other and brought the best out of one another. Brothers to the end.... The doctor was Gary Marshall (Penny's brother) and celebrated comedian and director.
When the show originally aired, and for all the years of reruns, this scene ended with Felix singing "Wherever You Go," which was not only funny but a nice homage to the song Klugman and Ethel Merman sang on Gypsy. But the cheapskates at Warner Bros didn't want to pay royalties, so they cut the song out. Now no one will see this episode end in its original, proper way ever again. Shame on Warners!
+Barnabas Collins No, they cut as many songs as possible from the show, even if it meant awkward cuts and depriving episodes of much of their charm. All to save a few dollars.
Shame on CBS/Paramount, not Warners. And not only did they ruin this episode, they also ruined the great episode with Pernell Roberts where the song "Cocktails For Two" is vital.
"I just neatened it a little... We'll mess it up a little. See, look, what I did. There." Hysterical. And Oscar looking away so longingly and deflated. JK played that part so skillfully. Hysterical.
Many have tried to recreate the odd couple TV characters but non has come close to the true characterisation and representation as the original TV show. A hit TV show cannot be recreated.
Exactly. There was a magic with Tony and Jack and their supporting cast and Garry Marshall, Jerry Belson, Harvey Miller etc as producers and writers. You can't improve on what's perfect the same with Magnum PI. There are some roles born for specific actors and they can't be topped.
The "I'm deaf" part had to be a Garry Marshall or a Harvey Miller line LMAO Jack and Tony both have talked about Garry Marshall and\or Harvey Miller throwing in brilliantly funny lines during rehearsals last minute.
I remember that show I was a little bit too young when it first came out came out 1970 I was born in 1970 I wondered what happened for some of those kids dancing in the park
It made no sense that.by bedtime, Oscar's room was.a mess again!! 😆.May.they.both continue to RIHP, the late.greats.Jack Klugman.&Tony Randall!! 💘 👨 🏠 👮 😍 😆 🎶 🍕
Jack Klugman was a thespian with a penchant for acting. He also didn't sell-out his birth name, at the behest of greedy & deceitful 'Hollywood' Moguls or studios. This proved that it IS possible to "make it" in show business, without disrespecting one's family name & heritage.
TILL THIS DAY THE ODD COUPLE ONE OF MY FAVORITES OF ALL TIME TONY AND JACK HAD A SPECIAL FRIENDSHIP IN REAL LIFE R.I.P.🙏 JACK AND TONY YOUS ARE TRULY MISSED GOD BLESS THEIR SOULS 🙏🌟🌟THEY WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER ODD COUPLE PERIOD✌️
I loved watching this show as a little girl. I used to lay on my Grandma floor. I was so sorry to hear Matthew Perry, who played Oscar was fighting Sobriety and tired of living. You can look at the tall building even in the show, and knew it was great TV watching. Rest In Heaven Matthew Perry 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Unfortunately the DVD cut out the hilarious end of the scene where Felix starts singing, "Together" and moves his chair toward Oscar who promptly moves away. One of many instances of an Odd Couple episode ruined by "music clearance" problems.
This show was hilarious. I watched it when new, as a kid. I wish Tony could have lived to straighten my bedroom. LOL. I'd be thankful.
And we, all of us, are very grateful for your friendship Tony and Jack for all the years of laughter you two brought us.
They did for sure. RIP funny guys .
Hear! Hear!
I loved this show
Well said! I own the entire series on DVD, and from time to time I'll binge-watch an entire season. So much fun! So many great memories.
1 of the GREATEST Shows of times
You said it!
Yes Tony. WE are all grateful for your friendship with Jack. Lotsa laughs.
The way Jack tucked his head yet smiled kinda big when Murray left the room after yelling “I’M DEAF!”, and the way Jack and Tony were sitting there crackin’ each other up near the end…OMG, I adore this show. ♥️♥️♥️
It was even funnier when Felix yelled “ Murray, we’ve been robbed break the door down!” And Murray said “ Good thing I got my hearing back.” 😂
The doctor lighting a match to look in Felix's throat is hilarious.
Mr Dafazio Laverne's father
This is one of the best shows ever.. great stuff
Brings back wonderful childhood memories. Innocent n blissful without a care in the world. I miss Oscar n Felix (the original) odd couple.
Yes today they would be labeled as being gay when they were just two bachelors

@@janelle7668 My mistake. You're right.
It's hilarious when Murray exclaims "I'm deaf!" and Jack Klugman almost loses it.
Haha, my husband said the exact same thing!
😂😂 Great scene
I love how you can clearly see Klugman crack up when Murry runs out of the bedroom
AL MOLNARO ONE OF THE GREAT TV CHARCTER ACTORS OF ALL TIME
Used to watch that show all the time when growing up. It used to come on like 11 pm.
I love Tony Randall . His character is so gentle and kind. We need more representations of men like this.

"What disarray" sums up Oscars room, LOL.
"whatsmatta with da nudge?"
LOLOLOLOLOL
1:30, look at Jack Klugman laughing at Al Molinaro, he can't hide it!
How many takes that must have taken just to get him to barely hold it together, haha.
Yep that was a genuine sir pressed laughter
@@liz326522 Is the doc Lavern's father? Can't recall his real name.
*how wonderful to have a friend like Murray who brings you pizza pie in the middle of the night!*

My Number 1 Most Favorite Sitcom Love The Odd Couple
I wish the clip included the bit where Felix sings “Together Wherever We Go”, and each time Felix inched his chair closer to Oscar, Oscar inched his chair away from Felix. Great moment. Great show.
That's the moment I was waiting for when I watched this clip. Best part.
Those of us whom love The Odd Couple have noticed many inconsistencies, especially when it comes music. Such as the last episode when Oscar sings “I’m Singing In The Rain “ has been deleted. Maybe it’s a copy write law?
Murray chased the burglars by going into a utility closet! This scene has non-stop laughs from beginning to end. 😂
'What disarray!' Giggle... :D

Loved this show growing up. You can see Jack Klugman laughing and trying not to show it at about 1:31 I never noticed that before.
There was a lot of love in this series. They were very good for each other and brought the best out of one another. Brothers to the end.... The doctor was Gary Marshall (Penny's brother) and celebrated comedian and director.
Actually the Doctor was Phil Foster who would go on to play Frank Difazio on Laverne and Shirley.
R.I.P Jack Al and Tony
Hysterical. I loved "The Odd Couple."
In my opinion, the greatest TV comedy ever produced. Tony Randall and Jack Klugman were treasures.

Shame on CBS/Paramount, not Warners. And not only did they ruin this episode, they also ruined the great episode with Pernell Roberts where the song "Cocktails For Two" is vital.
That must be why they also deleted "Buckle down, Winsocki".
I love Felix Unger and Oscar Madisoy.
Lololololol!!

Oscar Madisox
No. It's Felix Unger-Woo and Oscar Madisocks.

The best combo for tv. Others a waste of time.
After Murray says, "I'm deaf!" watch Oscar stifle a laugh.

"I just neatened it a little... We'll mess it up a little. See, look, what I did. There." Hysterical. And Oscar looking away so longingly and deflated. JK played that part so skillfully. Hysterical.
Haha. Looks like Oscar or Felix could easily take the guys robbing the house. They are ridiculously feeble and inept looking. Love it!
@Tony Montresor it's actually not that hard to be tricked with a finger in the pocket as a gun. Happened to me last summer.
