Thanks for the shootout. These sound really similar to my ears. I may be getting a TS5 soon, as it is far less expensive than the other Tubescreamer pedals, and seems to sound very similar.
Great headphones on and absolutely can not tell the tonal difference between the pedals.I actually own both the 808 and a TS5 and have modded many Tube Screamers over the years!
I have a moded TS5 and sounds amazing! I still use it live just have to tap the switch not step on it. It will last longer but eventually it will fail but replacing the switch is easy
Is this an original 808 from the 80s or the reissue that you can buy now? I have a TS5 and I love it but I’m looking to replace it with something more road worthy.
Just love the soundtanks for bringing the original Ibanez sound to the guys on a budget.
I had a TS5, loved the sound and feel, but eventually it did fall apart. It certainly doesn't sound inferior to the TS808!
Well done, always been interested in the TS 5
did you actually buy it?

They came out around the year 1990. I think they'd be a hard find.

I had a TS5 and it sounded good. But the switch was too unreliable... it sometimes worked and sometimes not.
It's an easy fix. You only need to replace the flipflop capacitor to a bigger value.
Or hose it down with electrical contact cleaner
Sound's doesn't 808 original just like reissue. So many dry
