The only problem is that there is not many of them in Japan. And those that exist are mostly hired by large international corporations that can pay more than manga/anime/game corporations. A smaller anime studio is not going to be able to outbid Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for translation services.
You are absolutely right, Japan have people fluent in English, so they can just hire them instead of western ones. It would have on time and money, and of course they will be protected from Western influence and propaganda.
I guess that is the good thing with the unlicensed translation, 99% of the time it's pretty good and the translation team add bits in the side lines of what a line could also mean, but to make it more coherent they went with a different option. Things that AI will miss is idioms, lots of idioms make no sense when translated and it takes an understanding of the language greater than AI currently can do to get the point across
That Katrina lady needs to be fired. What she's doing in professionally illegal and get her company into alot of legal issues. The manga author should sue her for misrepresentation.
That person says they consulted "trans people." But I bet those are trenders/tsonas because no actual trans person would want another culture and story changed for their "safety." I am trans with (gender dysmorphia), and the last thing that should happen is change someone's story that they put their time and life into. It's not just disrespectful to that person but also treats people who would want to read the story in their own language as "need of bubble wrapping." Anyway, the last thing I'll say is, I honestly want all this stuff to stop and these people to stop ruining every piece of media and escapism and also ruining real peoples lives.
@@arlisongbird9386 The best part is that that story is clearly Shounen Ai (Boy's love) and so they're literally cannibalizing a gay romance story for Trans virtue points. Wokies eating themselves once more, because we all know trans are higher up than gays on the victimhood pole. It's stupid as shit. As to them causing damages to their companies. Well, we've had multiple times in the last few years where they fucked up so bad, they had to re-print stuff. That can't be cheap.
It's really quite impressive how effective the localizers have been at making sure that nobody cares about them being replaced by AI. They are so bound and determined to learn nothing from this situation that people are actually celebrating their demise. Congratulations localizers, you played yourselves! 😉
I hope the videogame companies do something similar - I'm 1000% tired of localizers changing stuff that makes it over to the west. Look at what happened with Fire Emblem - both Fates and Engage have had entire characters' writing completely butchered by these ideologues. Was some of the stuff changed weird? Yes, but I'd rather see the original content and be weirded out than have some ideological twat decide for me what content I should and should not consume.
@@Spore9996I agree over Fire Emblem (long term fan myself, I've been playing the games since before everyone jumped on the bandwagon when the characters were used in Super Smash Bros) but that's a series it'll never happen with officially because it's a top down decision by Nintendo to remove certain content in certain territories in order to protect their brand image there. In a similar way to how Sony will remove the Pride flags from Spider-Man games released in the Middle East (I think other countries should get that game as it was originally intented too, and I'd LOVE to see their reaction to it 😉🤣)
*People from other countries that love Japanese 🇯🇵 content want the originals. DON'T let these woke/sjw activist and the companies they work for destroy the original works.*

@elpapahuevo7368 right? Like shit I'm American and a causal anime enjoyer. I don't get Mangas and stuff, I do watch the shows subbed though cause I noticed a few years ago that subs were always different with what they said. Why the hell can't people respect the original works of anything anymore, legit Hollywood doing this shit everywhere now and it needs to stop. Cleopatra, lord of the rings, he man, Witcher, now localizers changing Mangas and subbed animes. Just sucks, let the original content be. It's disrespectful to the author, their country, and stupid as shit.
@@erikschaeffer8419 Believe it or not, but this is not a new phenomenon. Americans already did extreme propagandic changes in films in the 80s, 90s, early 2000s. They clearly not want their citizens to know anything about the outside world so they keep the information as minimal as they could... Which is sickening.
Not only that, I want my translation to be as close to the original as possible. Every time I come across something that doesn't make sense or that I don't understand I go out of my way to research it which causes me to learn something about Japanese culture I didn't know beforehand. Even things like switching the naming convention (where they take the Japanese family name > personal name convention and switch it around to put the personal name before the last name irks me to no end. Family names first was confusing for about a minute until I read up on it. Now it's even more confusing because I have to listen carefully to the name being said and wonder if it's a family name first then personal name or the other way around. Considering characters don't typically use their full names all the time, I then have to wonder whether they're using family names to be formal or personal name which signifies that the characters are close to each other. This often confuses me and even when I know what they're doing irks me to no end. Just like I've accepted that I need to read manga in the opposite direction that I'd read an english graphic novel, I've accepted the reality of the Japanese naming convention. I sincerly hope they change this idiotic trend.
What these translators have done is not just immoral, but also criminal I believe. Isn't there an actual law against this sort of deliberate mistranslation?
As a professional translator I can say that normally this would be a gross breach of the translation contract. But I'm guessing they were getting away with it due to the a lack of oversight or check-up by the manga companies on the final, translated product. If I were to try something like that in my work, I could be fired with good justification by my employer. So it is clear the rot also extends to those translation firms allowing their woke translators to get away with this shit.
at the least it should be an absolute breach of contract. It's as much the creators fault for not having any oversight as it is the maniacs for going slash n burn on the original storytelling.
I mean if the sales tank you could try to make a case in civil court for damages. But the way the legal system has also been co-opted by this garbage, I doubt the original authors would want to pursue it. All these idiots are doing is forcing their own demise faster than would have happened. I feel bad for the good translators because they are getting wrapped up in this. Anyone that works in this sort of career better figure something out ASAP.
Preciselly! You can see the effect of wokeism even in the gaming industry. For instance, Overwatch developers are now using a virtue wheel that they use when creating new characters, where each attribute gives (or takes) away points from a character. In order for a character to get released, it has to reach a certain amount of points. A few examples are: White skin and male gender takes away points, while not being in shape (or as the wokies call it, being "body positive"), any other skin color, female gender, being gay or pansexual, missing limbs, being old, and being non-binary (with the upcoming hero) add points - Hence why 3/4 of them are missing limbs (since it adds a whole lot of points). But at least, compared to a whole lot of other games and especially movies and series, it doesn't somehow uses the game to insert actual woke propaganda in it by preaching how hard it is for a specific type of miniorty to live in todays society (quite literally one of the major immersion breakers). It's so hard to find a good quality western video game, series or movie that doesn't have a whole lot of woke garbage in it that completely breaks immersion.
This is when somebody starts to whine and complain about how Tolkien never said this, just to make excuses for current modern day entertainment when it's actually a more watered-down/simplified statement of what Tolkien's actual point was. People with lower IQ wouldn't understand otherwise.

After listening to years of everything being called "cultural appropriation" and cringing because almost never is, I'd have never thought the first time I was certain to see it would be in the localization/translation of manga and anime. Absolutely incredible....
you know what's funny is that pirated mangas are more faithful than paid localizers and I know that because I worked on one with some mates trying to get good translations. a lot of localizers that from alot of big companies put in their own stuff into it without the author's work being messed up. like remember when there was a story about a femboy loving a dude and rather than just not doing anything to change it they made it into a trans woman when the author had no intention of doing so. she wanted a yaoi love story but the localizers made it into their personal fantasy stories
100% thats why japan to solve piracy need to hire you all, make their own site, put a sub for it, fans would gladly pay 5-10$ a month for quality, since it would be more correct, more income will go to the creators and japan, and there would be a far bigger library than what we have now with crunchyroll etflix\disney (they hella expensive)
Some of these localizers hide behind "just trying to give 'voice' to these characters so they don't sound the same or typical". Eastern writing is just fine at giving personalities to their characters through writing. Do your job, get paid, go home, and repeat that's all people want
Here's the catch: If localizers did their job properly and this news about A.I. replacing them hit, the consumers would've been on the localizers side. When people are choosing to be on the side of A.I. instead of the human factor, you know how much they fucked up things are to reach this point.
I think piracy is justified at times. Like, when something literally isn't available to you without piracy. Shows that aren't streaming anywhere for example, or if an official English dub doesn't exist. My personal favorite though is when you absolutely despise the company that owns the IP (like Disney with Star Wars) and aren't willing to give that company your money.
This makes so much sense. I was watching an anime a while back and the dialogue seemed... oddly like modern US media. I was wondering if Japan had just started to take that corner that we had, but it seems like the translators are just changing lines for 'a modern audience'.
With all due respect, it's not "the west" corrupting everything. It's the filthy COMMUNISTS in the west trying to use everything for commie propaganda as to why everything is turning to sh*t.
Rey Say Desu has been my news on the anime news as he was one of the first to expose this drama as well as all of the horrible censorships. Corporate Vandalism is what was happening here. What crazy about it was they don't explain why they need to change the context of these works and why do they need to disrespect the Author and Original creators of these media, instead they keep saying "A.I. is bad." Which doesn't make the situation any better.

She would be the first to screech about 'cultural appropriation' if she saw it elsewhere, whilst ignoring the fact that what she is doing herself is cultural appropriation.
Woke radicals truly believe nearly ANYTHING they do is justified because they are the representatives of truth and justice, fighting against the forces of ancient evil and corruption. As emissaries of virtue they have not only a desire but a duty to subvert anything that is deemed "problematic". To them the ends justify the means. Unfortunately I think this will get much, much worse before it gets better, if it ever gets better.
The funny thing is, a lot of these changes to dialogue aren't even 'woke', they're just crap and dumbed down. A character saying 'Ah, I think your reasoning is correct!' makes them seem mature and intelligent, whereas them saying 'Ah, that's totes possible!' makes them seem like a bratty air-headed child. Even when political agendas aren't being inserted these translations are still awful and butcher characters' personalities.
@@86BarbOmega And most of the drastic changes are still made by the same woke lolcalizers. Even if a very few cases wouldn't look like that for a first sight.
It depends on the character. "Ah, I think your reasoning is correct!" isn't particularly mature and intelligent. It's what a non-intelligent person would find intelligent, like when they write a character who keeps saying "logical" or "indubitably" and think "look I made a brainy character guys" - no. As for "Ah, that's totes possible!" being a bratty air-headed child... what exactly is bratty about that? Do you not understand what bratty means? It's not air-headed either, it's just easy going. Don't be weird.
This reminds me of how they changed the name of one of my favorite manga titles, Mato Seihei no Slave, to "Chained Soldier" just because they don't like the word "slave" in the title. It's almost the same as how they don't refer to Boba Fett's ship as the Slave One anymore because it has "slave" in it. It's stupid. It is.
I read a lot of fanmade translations, and they are... Simply great! I mean, they often add in at the Borders of Pages or at the end of chapters notes or even Pages about language notes, curiosities about the culture or the reasons behind the translation, and not only they are well-made, but also really interesting! You can see the love they put in their work and the respect for the source.
This is one of the reasons to always watch subtitles and it's original language. 🤔 However, they might mess up that translation too. Damnit I am gonna have to learn Japanese.

This is actually really funny, because it breaks into having unofficial translations being called "wrong". I recently picked up the Officially licensed "Octopath Traveler Tabletop RPG" (Or OTRPG) and wanted to translate it so I could play it and even have other people who own the book be able to play it as well. I fully accepted that I would never let anyone else get access to the translation unless one already owned the book, and refused any amount of money that people wanted to donate to me. It was all a labor of love. But the crazy part happened when I wanted to show off just a bit of the world building that one couldn't necessarily get unless one owned the book, but would be good for the fandom to understand. One of the twelve gods, Dohter, was said to be another god's "Younger Brother", and I wrote that the way it said in Japanese. I was immediately asked and even told I was wrong because in the English version of Octopath Traveler 2, the video game, Dohter had been given a *female* voice actor, and people were demanding that I reread and show them the facts and couldn't honestly believe that Dohter was anything other than a woman as a result. They completely ignored the fact that the statue of Dohter in Octopath Traveler 2 was a statue of a person wearing a toga, with his completely bare right side of his chest hanging out, with no boob at all, completely manly and smooth. This is how changing the designer's original intentions in order to add "more diversity and women" to a game makes people think that even the *correct* translation *must* be wrong. It's going to get even worse as things go on, I can tell.
I used to play games in english all my life, because ussually there were no spanish versions, and if there were, English were more accurate, but I think I'll go with the Spanish version now. Thanks for the insight. I've got Octopath Traveler II for PS5, and haven't played it yet. Guess I'll find out how they translated it.
It's funny how all this is coming out now. I used to speak rudimentary Japanese, enough to converse lightly with a store clerk, lost most of it, but watching anime I did find myself reading the sub and listening to the dialogue and going "that's not what they said! That translation makes no sense" or "it's so westernized it kills the Japanese attitude or sense or cultural behaviour" etc... now all makes complete sense and I go "ooohhh, someone is meddling". I'm fluent bilingual / almost polyglot and it drives me nuts when the translation sucks.
There's one thing I'd like to disagree with and I'll choose to take it in good faith Piracy has a very... interesting relationship with Japanese media, if you remove fan TL works from content that never really got brought overseas in the first place then we're still in current day with the big streaming services who, beyond costumers refusing to support their practices for screwing over japan and costumers alike with things like wokeness or a bad return on investment for the japanese creators, you also have the biggest influencer of piracy: Region locking A lot of these services are completely inept at actually well... distributing their content which is the infamous trying to watch an anime on CR or Funimation and it just isn't avaible outside the US. So yea while I think that quick point of yours was well intentioned I think there's a longer more nuanced discussion to be head in terms of piracy and japanese media, especially because an alternative a lot of people seek is to pirate the westernized content but directly buy the japanese versions in order to support the creators with the biggest slice of the pie possible. If you're trying to support these works your best bet is nit supporting localizations per say but to buy the original and buy merch. Anyways happy new year Endymion and anyone else reading this comment!
Yea so many Manga don’t even get the chance to be showcased in Other countries let alone where their written in like Japan,Korea and China plenty of Manga,Manhua and manwha would never be showcased in different languages without fan translations. Also if were speaking in Prices alone of always buying what you love…everyone would be buried in debt with how much a lot of people read. As it is 15 dollars about per Volume and Manag tends to be spewn out ridiculously fast and thats not even counting trying to read older less popular things. It's appalling to see how these "localizers" have been getting away with rewriting other writers' works, denouncing them, complaining about doing it, and then high-fiving each other believing that they were on the side of righteousness. The Japanese have all the right to exercise and protect their IPs from this form of sabotage.
I am Japanese, but I feel a great indignation towards this issue. The work of these shameless localizers should indeed be called cultural appropriation, and I believe it is an unacceptable problem. (It should be noted that Japanese people do not consider it cultural appropriation when foreigners wear kimonos or make authentic Japanese cuisine. Rather, we are very pleased that they are showing interest in Japanese culture.)
One of the great failures of most idiots who complain about "cultural appropriation" is that they can't tell the difference between appropriation and appreciation.
Hey Japan. Knock Knock? But didn’t you change all of Solo Levellings names from Korean to Japanese, cause you guys hate Korean people. I think Sung Jin-Woo is a pretty cool name.
Another thought, piracy in general hits distributors, not creators or owners of originals. The creators will be more immediately affected by local markets, while localization and exporting them is an opportunity. In US and Europe it is not very prominent outside of specific markets (i did not know about it's impact on manga, for example). Where it is much. much more notorious are places with prohibitive import and ownership policies, there it becomes, in the eyes of the people "white hat". For example, Russia is notorious for it's markup by distribution and troubles with localization. Piracy in there is a lot of times justified, from the point of the consumer, if not legal. Why pay for shitty and buggy localization of a game with butchered translation when you can get a torrent of a good repack and aid the community as a whole? While not a good train of thought, it is justifiable in many instances.
People wouldn't pirate at all if the main stream sources were of better quality / were not taking the piss with their monetization / were more readily available to access.
wait, is it not illegal to take someones work, be it a movie, book or similiar art or somesuch, and then warp it into your own work? i am not an expert on copyrights and infringements and such; But If i am sitting in, say, Japan and i write a very popular manga series that has my name on the cover of the book and then someone takes it and modify the story witout my consent; i mean isn't there laws against stuff like that?

I hate that 'Woolseyism' has become a term. Piratecy actually help the industry more than it hurts it. With many anime and manga fans being pirates, even when the buy the official material. This is due to many reasons, a big one being legal websites either don't have the series or you have to be subscribed to 3 or more services. Until all anime and manga is under one service/service package then Piracy will continue to exist. Many in the community have already offered solutions to piracy but no one listen to them. The second being that there are quite a few series that don't have an official release and only gets one after the glb community pirated the series for a bit. Heck piracy is what created the western anime community, leading to official methods of getting the series.
true, i hope it gets more messy so japan will make their own service streaming and reading and hire all the fansubbers: it will solve them so many issues and it will make 90% of the community happy
I greatly despise the how the toxic side of the U.S. manga/anime fandom essentially rules the fandom and is catered to the most, while impacting the wholesome side of the fandom of which myself and others reside from, as though to be splashed with toxic sludge by the toxic side obsessing over things like “lgbt” shipping and identity politics of ‘straight’ characters.
This is the whole point of "Gatekeeping", not letting non-fan activists in for them to ruin the hobby/media. We've been told that gatekeeping is wrong for years now, while those people pretended there was gatekeeping where it wasn't, like the myth of girls being gatekept from games, just so they can weaponize it so that awful people can't get ousted by the communities and poison them from the inside while ruining the works.
@@DenethorDurrandirthat’s right. This is why “super hero fatigue” should be embraced by comicbook fans, instead of them pretending genre burnout in the general population isn’t a thing. These translators should be sued for piracy. They take the original product and use it for themselves in a manner not wanted by the creator 🤣 Could be a fun lawsuit!
I'd pay for that. Seeing as many of those twits are so smug about themselves, they'll never know what hit them when they are begging for change on the streets.
The main issue with the piracy of Manga and Anime is thus, it's not because free, though for some that is the main factor, but because the fansubbers or scanlators will do a much better job than the official English release! It was once an unwritten rule in the fansub scanlation scene, that when a property got an official English release, all subbing and scanning would cease, with the majority of sub/scan groups honoring this rule, but because this crap has gotten so out of hand, the groups now look over the official release, if the job done is really poor, they will continue releasing subs/scans of the works! Heck, even the fandubbers often do a better job at producing English dubs than the official release! I don't support AI in the generation of visual works, but if it will aid in getting an accurate translation of the original Japanese, then screw the localisers... in a bad way!
if only japan will hire the fansubbers: that would solve like 3 problmes they face right now: the piracy, localization and better income for the original creators, since japan would not have to pay ton of companies and releases places for the translation. and also make their own streaming service for anime and manga for those hired fansubbers\dubbers. better than any of the existing streaming services
I think that it's okay for translators to change things to suit the audience as long as they're transparent enough about it and/or it's the company's policy and not their personal decisions. Localization, after all, just isn't the same as simple translation. When individuals insert their personal political views is where it crosses the line. People have to do what's profitable and some things also don't translate, or naturally get lost in translation. Back in the day, changes were acceptable and understandable and it was interesting to find out what they were. As I watch this, I realize everything I used to like passed through a localization filter. The problem now is that... in the past people made localization choices to actually please audiences or not confuse them, whereas now they do it specifically to be woke, and wokeness is a plague. Localizers used to love what they did (I think). Now, people like this woman hate the authors whose work they're translating.
True. I remember reading notes from translators, explaining whatever change they introduce in order for reader to have a better grasp of the story, not to insert any personal narrative.
yeah if its like difficult names or things that dont have a direct translation from japanese. but changing half the story with their own idea of what it should be instead of the original... thats illegal XD

9:33 sad to see how far we've fallen. Back in the 90s the writer of The Guyver ova Junki Takegami liked the western Dub so much that it was used for the basis of subs in other countries! And then the Samurai Pizza Cats dub got a limited edition release back home because they found the changes so funny! _Why such a lack of respect to the creative process today?!?_ There would absolutely never ever be such a reaction to the localisation of any game/anime out there by its original creators today 😭 Lily cat's dub didn't win such accolades but was also respected for "keeping the proper tone throughout"
Part of the problem will be that some languages just dont translate and you need context. Take any Polish text and plug it in to a translator, it will make no sense unless its maybe the most simple of phrases
they are not removing the uniqueness of the creation, they fundamentally changing the characters. These people believe to be talented enough and entitled to make editorial changes. Imagine Luke Skywalker but he’d refer to everyone by the N-Word. These „translators“ alter the perception of the audience and are therefore liable if sales didn’t met expectations
Heck, I liked to play games in english because I used it to learn the language but nowadays I'm using my language because I found out that it was translated straight from the original language so no "localization fix".
"Piracy isn't cool". My brother in Christ, there is an ENTIRE other moral debate over that subject. And yes, when a company provides you an interior quality product where you don't even keep what you pay for, I do mean moral.
My take: if you don’t own the product, you aren’t really pirating anything. Likewise, if posting a fan dub or fan sub on UA-cam gets you struck or banned (and it does, YT has banned for less), by all means, sail the seas
@@nny2055 "It's because the legal products are of low quality!" This. Just this, and this alone. As far as people are concerned, that's all that matters. Why pay for a "1080p" version of something only to have it throttled down to 240p and be able to do nothing about it when you can get a 4k version for free? Piracy is not about getting stuff for free, it's about customer service. No, piracy DOES NOT help the industry. But until the industry helps itself, then other people will. And to clarify, I'm not just talking about Anime and Manga. Industries interested in making quality products usually avoid this problem. Western "entertainment" on the other hand...
Maybe if they didn't change the translation and add their unwanted point of view where it's not supposed to be then they wouldn't be getting replaced by ai. Next will be games and anime and rightly so

Piracy is a problem of service. japan for decades ignored the west forcing them to form a community around Piracy. One could argue animes popularity in the west was seeded in the early days by fan subs. Only recently did they start realizing there is a branch of light novel readers that prefer audiobooks.
Just to point out, that line of Randy saying "bruh moment" was from the unofficial translation (Geofront) of Trails to Zero. Apparently the translation got changed in the official release of Trials to Zero from what I heard, but I am not entirely sure. I will say that that line when people were playing this translation caused a lot of various reactions. A lot of people liked it, a lot of people hated it, and there was a lot of this junk in the Geofront translation.
Yeah, I'm not seeing any reason why the human "supervisor" won't just change again what the AI translated. The only fix to this is to properly vet translators to make sure they aren't activists.
Do you know how easily the Anime community would rally around localizers and translators if they took the time to respect the source and not try and fix it? It's embarrassing that the nearly universal cry is "Please, let a robot do this for the love of God"
Yep but now we know exactly why they're there and what message they are sending. I'm all up for Ai or Japanese people fluent in English doing all the translations.
The sad part is AI won’t solve this issue if the code has been meddled with to conform to woke politics. And there are plenty of examples already with chat bots and image generators.
@@Virtualbluearttraining from scratch is a good start, but they'll have to be careful what material they feed it in that training. I hope they can find a lot of sample translations that haven't been spun like this, else they'll be training the biases right back in.

I don’t blame the Japanese manga creators thinking about using AI instead of these woke influencers. Sucks that they ruined it for honest localizers that actually follows direction from their employers.
It sucks because localizers who are ACTUALLY doing their jobs and straight up translating text as closely as possible, with respect to the author’s original intent, are getting screwed over by the woke weirdos in their own field…
I'm so glad we have someone like Asmon, it seems like he's the only popular online personality that isn't completely infected with the woke mind virus.
lets be honest here , asmon is an absolutele joke that will take on the popular opinion. he is just like every other big streamer where you question why they are even as popular as they are.
While piracy is bad, it does and will exist for as long as publishers and service providers will not aknowledge the fact that majority of it stems from them providing services/products that are making their experience worse than if they get it for free, be it limiting your streaming if you dont user their app when you could stream it in a browser, bad translations or forcing adds even when you already pay a subscription fee.
I think Japan should use the AI and Human Element Translations for Manga and Anime, and also Handpick Said Human translators that don’t have Woke in their agendas. I am a huge fan of English Dub in anime, but if this is what I have to watch with agendas, I may change allegiances to switch over to Japanese Dub
Good to know that i'm not the only one that saw this happening.. Maybe not on such a grand scale and method like this but things like Netflix and such streaming media's also translate anime or foreign (anime)series with subpar translations.. sometimes even ignoring sentences or conveying different things along side also because of differences in expression as cultural differences happen but .. Omg.. This is baffling!
I only feel sorry for those localizers who actually do their job properly and try to localize stuff in a way to bring the meaning the author wanted to deliver as faithfully as possible.
The i think im turning my friend into a girl incident was so bad the publishers of the english manga stepped in, apologised and re-released the manga with proper translations.
As for falcom 2 things worth mentioning. 1) falcom have policy against providing material for translations until after game is releases instead of in advance to allow multiple languages release at once (I think they make exception for Korea for some reason) 2) half of your example come from zero/ AO and they were rather uniquely translated as translation team strikes deal with fanmade pirate translators (geofront) and brought them onboard and only go over they work to keep some terminology in check with rest of titles which weren't even in the west when geofront started (they also allowed them to get memorials in final dungeon which was nice gesture Vs square suing translation and selling they work after years of refusing western release). bonus) Randy isn't a bracer he is former Jaeger tuned soldier turned cop tuned school teacher turned whatever he is doing in CS4. Bonus2) at least some of changes in trails the very title of the game included were changed unilaterally by translators and endorsed by falcom as improvements over original so not sure if using this series as example here is actually a good idea.
Activist defender 6:52 : ".. I fully support this translator.." Reality: nobody else does. (Even those who claim to support them don't really patronize the products.) Proof: tanking sales; complaining customer base.
So you’re telling me that they can’t just translate it from one language to another without inserting their own stupid and moronic agendas. Unbelievable
As someone who has been working with AI, especially around content creation this entire year, this is an opportunity for them. If these localization experts were diligent and true to the original author's work they would not lose their jobs but have an opportunity to expand their career and make themselves more desirable hence more pay for them. People don't know is that AI needs to be built specific for the task you are requiring it. That is why that Japanese creator of Orange is on the right track. If you are a localization you can translate more work, true to the author's work, and beat the piracy which is a HUGE problem. So think about it, advertise yourself as translating 20% more content because you use AI, you are 25% faster, so can beat the piracy and print your money. But this requires you to be true to actually translate and hustle hard, which I don't see these woke localizers doing. Also, the piracy sites are often done with donations or people doing it as a hobby and are still faithful to the original authors work, so they show these guys up all the time; another factor of AI is cuts out the fat of industries, which people don't like to admit.

Maybe the Anime production studios should hire Japanese translators that are fluent in English! No more woke ideologies and no more BS!
That would be ideal but it looks like AI will just devour this particular job entirely now

@tovarishcheleonora8542 truth unfortunately.

That’s putting it lightly

Hypocrisy is at the heart of all their arguments. They willingly blind themselves to it and claim that their words are true.

Wow things are going wild over there, Lemme grab some popcorn and continue watching/reading Anime/Manga in Japanese.
Many times I thought the same. Only recently when it became overly obvious did I realize this was happening!
There's one thing I'd like to disagree with and I'll choose to take it in good faith
Piracy has a very... interesting relationship with Japanese media, if you remove fan TL works from content that never really got brought overseas in the first place then we're still in current day with the big streaming services who, beyond costumers refusing to support their practices for screwing over japan and costumers alike with things like wokeness or a bad return on investment for the japanese creators, you also have the biggest influencer of piracy: Region locking
A lot of these services are completely inept at actually well... distributing their content which is the infamous trying to watch an anime on CR or Funimation and it just isn't avaible outside the US.
Which is also a thing I hate to see disapear in this age as I can’t watch most of the really old anime nor read extremely old Manga if I wanted.

It's appalling to see how these "localizers" have been getting away with rewriting other writers' works, denouncing them, complaining about doing it, and then high-fiving each other believing that they were on the side of righteousness.
The Japanese have all the right to exercise and protect their IPs from this form of sabotage.
Paycheck for forgery, is what they did!
Thanks for covering Japanese content, appreciated.

Instead it didn’t reach any audience and it’s ruining the industry. Once it goes back to a niche thing the people who are writing crap will leave and you’ll get decent stories again.

I don't support AI in the generation of visual works, but if it will aid in getting an accurate translation of the original Japanese, then screw the localisers... in a bad way!
especially when the distributors outright cut scenes
if only japan will hire the fansubbers: that would solve like 3 problmes they face right now: the piracy, localization and better income for the original creators, since japan would not have to pay ton of companies and releases places for the translation. and also make their own streaming service for anime and manga for those hired fansubbers\dubbers. better than any of the existing streaming services
I hipe everyone had a merry Christmas and i hope everyone has a happy new year
I think that it's okay for translators to change things to suit the audience as long as they're transparent enough about it and/or it's the company's policy and not their personal decisions.

I fully support this translator.."
Reality: nobody else does. (Even those who claim to support them don't really patronize the products.)
Proof: tanking sales; complaining customer base.
Yup, sucks to suck.
Maybe they will do better.
Somehow i doubt it...
Someone poised a question:
“Name a modern TV series where the father is depicted in a leadership role, he is disciplined, treated with reverence and respect, and shows genuine care for his role and family.”
Failed answers pointed to Homer Simpson, Peter Griffin, so on.
I came quickly to the fitting answer:
Loid Forger
Yellowstone?
