When I watch UCLA on floor I get transported! The performances are so beyond all the other schools- Chae, Jordan and the artist known as Brooklyn Moors!! Very deserving of that 49.8
You look like you're doing better Spencer, which makes me so happy. :)
Brooklyn Moors' performance combined with her artistry is one of the best I've ever seen. I don't care what other people say. It moves me to tears every time I see that floor routine and that is what artistic gymnastics should be about. Even in the NCAA. Put her in the Louvre.❤
Haven’t even started and I know this video is gonna be good
Really looking forward to seeing Ondine on beam for Cal but also happy they aren't trying to rush her back before she is ready.
The thrill of victory (they showed Nadia) and the agony of defeat (ski jump dude crashes out - blue suit). I lived for those broadcasts, VCR at the ready to record!
Wish someone would investigate the high frequency of Achilles ruptures and tears in the past couple years... training, lack of thorough foot/ ankle muscle development, explosive movements/ repetition, changes in the mats or spring board, shoe wear, taping techniques, or some medication/ supplement influencing all this? It also seems so many athletes are landing FX on their toes while moving backward in flips/ twists. If they are doing too much in explosive work and not within their physical capacity, then the informed choice must be made on longterm risks. The other possibilities can easily be changed and should be investigated to reduce further injuries.
I think SHIFT Movement has explored this. Search in UA-cam 'Achilles Tears in NCAA Gymnastics - A Must Have Conversation'.
High correlation with the use Quinolone use (antibiotic group frequently given) I would love to do a study on this but have no idea of where to go to even start this study
There is a team in Aus doing this - in relation to sports in general. It's definitely an issue which is on the rise around the world in elite sports.
I would love to know more about the team if you have a contact or article to share. If it is also rising in other sports, I wonder if a non- technique issue may be causing this.
@1:27:00 I absolutely AM a fan...WE absolutely ARE fans! ❤
While the "honey" comment in this specific case was probably as benign as they are saying, let's not pretend gay men can't be raging misogynists just because they don't want to sleep with us. The dance world is rife with gay misogyny even though women tend to be numerically dominant. Similarly, women can be homophobic, anyone can fear anyone in this brave new world.
I was click baited. I came for Brooklyn and heard about judging :( great episode, but tough to compete with her artistry in any capacity
@@darklight1030 yeah I kinda agree! UCLA went lights out and it wasn’t talked bout enough for my liking
Judges need walk out music, eg Darth Vader's theme. 😂
Gutted for Tyler
Oh wow, I had no idea the announcer who called an athlete honey is gay, thanks for the context!
love watching UCLA UF and Oregon State mainly due to the US national team members who compete for those schools Specifically Jordan Chiles who can always come up clutch if a team mate had major errors in their routine like a step out of bounds with both feet it was interesting that she did her floor ex last weekend to a medley of Prince songs including Little Red Corvette and When Doves Cry as she's a Gen Z kid that seemed out of Character had I not been legally blind and a gifted Gymnast I would've likely done routines to music like that as I grew up listening to it with my mom or an old Motown song like Reflections by the Supremes My Girl by the Temptations etc. as I grew up listening to that with both parents or I might have even done a routine to a Carpenters song like Close To You or Top Of The World
Yeah nah on the guys in the stands. They're not out there in their swimwear for the guys' teams are they? Honestly it's kinda funny and also a complete distraction from the women competing. As anyone who got into sports in College will tell you, there's such a power disparity between female and male athletes even today. And there's certainly a huge imbalance between male swim teams and women's gymnastics teams. What on earth is Jessica talking about that swim and dive teams need to promote themselves. Divers yes, but swim teams? Nope. They are popular, sponsored and media backed nicely and have been for years.
I dated a swimmer in high school. This is what they do. Also, not a bad view.
Equitable means equal outcomes. If that’s your goal then you’re just being Oprah - “everybody gets a 10!”.
That is not intrinsic to the word. In my field, it usually means enabling everyone's meaningful access to the service we provide, which means differential treatment and different outcomes, just equity of access. But other areas use it differently. It's one of those words that always needs pinning down and defining before it can be useful.
Was she "Denmarkian?!" 🤣🤣Um, do you, perchance, mean "Danish?"
I find some teams making errors and getting high scores and teams like ucla and others getting low scores even if they stick lsu get 198 with plenty errors what's with that Oklahoma' same thing errors and 198 those judging are not right Cha and brooklyn no mistake but get 9975 I thought cheating is only in the movies but wow these judges need 3D glasses to see better
@@wendyredman7343 yeh UCLA isn’t the judges favorite they get scored more fairly but when schools like FL and LSU and yes even OU are over-scored it causes and unbalance even if the ranking is mostly right
The judging is completely whack! When Missouri MIZZOUvsOU Oklahoma competed on beam I thought I’d lose my mind. Audrey Davis CLEARLY grabbed the beam to stabilize herself through her choreo and still got a 9.925. Mizzou had the best beam rotation I’ve ever seen from them , and got the hammer . One routine got under a 9.8 . It was shameful and embarrassing
Jessica's "political opinions" are exactly why I pulled my membership to begin with. Good to see she is still thinking we care what she thinks outside of gymnastics.
I know it's strange to expect a GYMNASTICS podcast to cover gymnastics and not their political agendas, but I guess I'm old-fashioned like that lolzzzz
Ugh cry harder, I will gladly fill your place as a member 😘
There is no way that JC should have gotten a 10 for her floor exercise. I find her showboating with her dance moves and very little actual gymnastics.
It sounds like you have a stylistic complaint, but that doesn't affect scoring. She had all compositional requirements and difficulty needed AND executed them all with no errors. It was definitely a 10 floor routine. College gymnastics has a LOT more dancing and artistry than elite.
Haters gonna hate!! In ur face cuz judges and fans disagree!! Ur tears are my candy bars!!
