I just bought one on a ridiculous deal. What a bargain, a brilliant torch but just a little bit too big to keep in my pocket all the time but easy enough to keep close to hand in a bag. Bright as I could ever imagine needing but the moonlight function is soooo useful. Just enough to see by without killing night vision and potential life-saver with 27 day (yes, days, not hours) battery life at that low setting. Also overcomes the killer weakness of side-button torches with the automatic lock out after 3 minutes but sensibly allows moonlight to be accessed for as long as you press and hold the button! So well thought through after a bit of practice you can quickly get the hang of the button code. You can also set it to smooth stepless dim and brighten rather than cycling through 3 brightness levels. You also failed to mention lockout mode to prevent accidental button press from switching lamp on. Four quick presses to manually set it to lockout or leave it for 3 minutes and it automatically enters lock out mode. Pressing the button once gives 2 quick flashes to indicate it'st in lockout mode. Quick double click to enter normal mode. Great thinking I only wish I'd bought 2 now the price has virtually doubled but even then it's great value for money.
Great Review Captain, and No Kidding, He's Perfect! I was like 5, and just arrived, waiting for 2 IF23's to go green fully charged. Then I hit them both on at once,, Oh My... Like Gun Smoke Matt Dillon dual guns blazing, beams hitting the ceiling. These dudes will be all I ever need for quite awhile. I meant to add, Sofirn did come out recently with the all new IF24. He's pretty cool with rotating collar dial mode selection around the push button. I suspect one of those is on's its way, for review. If it only had twin lasers hidden behind spot light reflector... Red & Green. Cheers
Excellent video, was checking out this light online and came across your video, I agree with you. This is a awesome light, I love the innovation keep up the good work God bless.
It's probably in lockout mode to prevent it lighting up accidentally in a pocket or bag if the button gets clicked. Click and it flashes twice then goes out. If you double click it switches on and works as normal. To set lockout mode manually you click four times quickly or leave it for 3 minutes and it does it automatically.
You can still turn on moonlight if it's locked, just long press the power button, but you have to press & hold to keep it on, if you don't want to hold then you need to unlock it, just a heads up, you can unlock with just a double tap.
@@kam0999 Thanks, I had already worked out the long press funny enough, turning the tail cap would be the way to go if you want moon light to remain on though. This is an odd light compared to the rest of my collection but I like it even though having just one button and so many modes is far from ideal in my opinion, how often do you miss the mode that you wanted due to the amount of clicking on that one button? Your thoughts on this flashlight in general.
@@steveclark.. I agree, a two button layout like some of nitecore lights would be great, if I'm wishing, I'd also like the oled screen. Even though it's quirky, I still think it's a must have if you like collecting flashlights. I only have 14 lights atm, but for me, this (IF23) & the Wuben X3 are the most interesting.
@@kam0999 I'm tempted by that X3 too although I really don't need any more lights, I've never counted my collection, maybe it would come to 20. None of mine have a display though, being able to see exactly the percentage battery wise is a great idea.
Hello guys PLEASE Can any other Sofirn IF23 owners help me.... My strobe on the spot and side light pulses fast then slow then fast.... IS THIS NORMAL.... it strobes at 2 speeds in a way .... does yours???? Thanks for helping me
@@outerlimitless When pressing the button once, mine flashes twice and returns dark. I've to double-press to get the side light on, then turn it off, and only then one button press turns the main light on as the manual says. Then it works as planned for some time, and returns to that odd functionality. It has another quirk of that kind as well. I've powerdrained it a couple of times, then it works as intended for a while, and then starts playing its little games again. I never before even thought that a flashlight could use a firmware update. Besides that the light is great. If others have not experienced this, I could have a Monday unit of sorts.
@@chaoticadventureEr, that's the automatic lock-out to stop it coming on in your pocket. Double-click then it comes on and works as normal. Fast click 4 times to manually put it into lock-out mode or leave it for 3 minutes and it does it automatically. There's a lot to be said for reading the manual, then you'd know these things.
You missed the reverse charge function! You can charge your phone or other things out of it, it's also a great power bank.

Thanks for the content) It also works as the emergency Powerbank via USB-C-USB-C cable)

I receive mine tomorrow! Can't wait to EDC this thing.

Eric thanks to this review, I got this baby on the way. Good job. Your reviews are all encompassing and very well done! Thanks again brother!
I think you'll really like this light... it's so different... hard not to like it! Thanks for the support!
fwiw i have this and its a 10/10 - buy without worry, and do it now during black friday!
Great review on this torch. Just ordered mine from Amazon. 👍 Andy from uk.
Such a good product. I really like it.
thanks for the infomercial 😄
Too good 👍.Just amazing. Hopefully someone gifts me one😊.
I received mine a few days ago, charged it over night. Played with it about 10 minutes and it wouldn’t come on the next time I turned it on.

How do you lock it?
Mine stopped charging I have to use an external charger.
How can you get straight to moon light mode when it's on auto lock? I've just got one, I'm not sure if that's possible?

That's very common ... many strobes flash multi stage
Thanks.... so it's OK... nothing wrong.... ?
It's programmed that way. It makes it harder for the pupil to adjust, thus making the strobe more effective
Maybe little warning. Flooding water with white light = no catch fot hours 🙂😂
just bought from amazon for $33 on sale. Made the mistake of putting on highest setting while pointed at my face. SMH. Seeing colors for about an hour
Does anyone have a problem with this overheating after 15 minutes of being on? I assume I just got a dud.
Put that in ya pocket right next to your phone..... nice magnet.
The minus only one thing.....heavy
Carry that in your picket with your card wallet. ..... nice magnet.
The flashlight is great on paper but I regret buying it. It is buggy as hell, unpredictable.
That seems odd to me... Mine is flawless. What bugs do you have? Curious!
