John Otto is an intricate and underrated drummer. His grooves are fat and he adds little delicious flairs in through out. He taught me a lot growing up and playing his beats. Limp Bizkit may be one of the most hated bands solely cause of Durst. But you can’t deny that every single musician in this band is talented as fuck.
Fuckin' A, such a sensitive touch, and excellent feel with that groove. If there was one consistency in Limp Bizkit, it was the quality of the original performers, Wes, John, and Sam. Those dudes MADE Limp Bizkit. Fred was just along for the ride.
@@iSmellBreakfast Durst was important. I’ll retract my statement a bit. I think his aggressive style and ego helped to bring a unique angle to their music. I think as they progressed album-wise he just got lazy. Started out strong, though.
Dam bro I didn't even recognize him, I was like did they replace Jhon!? He just got way bigger that's crazy . He definitely is one of the most underrated drummers when it comes to mainstream drummers he gets looked over and not really mentioned to often but as a drummer I'm telling you dude got chops ..like foreal he can play. lB get a lot of hate but I don't even care I put on any of their albums and I wanna just get up and move and not may bands make me wanna get off my lazy ass but their shit has so much energy and drive I can't help it. Been a fan since the family values tour day's so all you old heads out there you know what's up lol
Here he confirms to me what i loved about his playing those years ago! Human! David salveria of korn the same! Detectable drag or push but always gumanly perfect. Machines quantise to the point. This giy and a select famous others have that invetween flow. Perfect to the ear but homest to the machine. Who jeeds robots when human playing has more character and story!? How else can i explain why john otro is a drumming legend? His band was a trend, his success a moment. His drumming a constant! He is exemplary
his splash/crash work (dunno if that's the correct term)to me, as a novice ,sound's incredible. Very vocal. (Dude looks like a giant baby, video can play out of sync, can't see his feet for most of it, but I still watched it like 50 times 'cause it sounds so fOOking good....)
I can't see when the drum hits the "trrrssss" like hitting multiple times (i believe it would be 4 times). He doesn't seem to change the pace... how does he manage that?
Being 100% honest here, johns stuff isn’t that hard to play but it’s put together very well and he is nearly always in time in live shows and doesn’t get carried away with his beats, he is very good at directing mood with his different sections of songs as well

Exactly! Otto, Borland and Lethal are super talented. The reason they're so hated is exactly why you said, Durst.
Exactly, so glad his dad finally replaced him as the front man!
@@levilively8643 don’t forget Sam rivers. Epic bass man! 🤙🏻
One of, if not the, tightest rhythm section in nu metal.
I get why Durst gets all the hate, he's not a great guy. But you can't deny his singing talent imo.
Otto always puts on a clinic with his ghost notes
I really love his style, so groovy
guess what, this man is/was a jazz Drummer
His groove is awesome 🔥
0:38 - replacing the backbeat on 3 by a kick, moving it to 4 and ending with these two tasty splashes... The kind of stuff that makes a great drummer
Well spotted, nice alternative to a snare.
Well to be honest not that difficult
@@jaydenwaddell373 it is difficult, especially to land that with that sorta feel and groove
I it’s really not I do it all the time
It’s one of my favourite things to do in a song
I started playing drums thanks to this guy! 22 years after, I still love his style!
Goddamm he just took us all to the matthews bridge
hahahahhah
I had to laugh so hard, man!
what a drummer, my hero!
Completely underrated af.
damn i wish there was a full version
John : LOUD and spicy
Sam : deep sad bass
Wes and Lehtal: psychedelic atmosphere

Huh, even though band members like borland have said multiple times how important durst is/was.

Of course he's amazing, he started off as a Jazz drummer
Where is the rest of it? That was so good.
that sound have a name and his name is (feeling)
Pocket for days
How do you get this kind of access in the first place? Wow!
Best jazz to hard rock/metal adapted drumming since Bonham...Yeah i said it.
Fuck Yeah 🤟

Sick
I used to hate on LB until I tried to play some of their songs on drums. They are NOT easy
John is good, but if they ever need a fill in, get a gospel chops guy to raise the roof.
Looks like ole Johnny boy ate one too many bizkits.
welcome to another episode of John Otto in the Pocket
I just came

Damn John got fat 😂still a great drummer
