All showcases here are missing about 30% more damage because I forgot to gem swap into concentrated effect. If you only have 3 ascendancies, try going full left side, into gore spikes and sunder of the flesh. If you feel like if you need more defences instead, take grasping wounds instead of sunder. But I didn’t need grasping wounds until I got my final ascendancy point.
i have one OP scepter with +5 minion + minion life 46% + 180 total spirit because of the corrupted. can i use this scepter ? but this scepter is RATTLING SCEPTER T_T T_T T_T can i still use it ? it's pretty expensive to get a new malice scepter
@@get_troll i checked his mobalytics and his recommend is to using omen scepter. still curious tho can i use my current rattling scepter or no, since omen scepter with good roll is painfully expensive.

I'm trying to build a chaos witch, but its ridiculous how my detonate dead casts faster, costs less mana, scales automatically with the map, and clears just as fast as hex blast. Bloodmage really needs a 50%/50% hp/mana share instead of the insane 100%/100% straight up debuff. Its just torture on the early levels and I had to just despec that node until I had my 2nd ascendency. Hopefully GGG will rebalance bloodmage to enable more diverse builds on it.
I gave up playing my chaos blood witch, just garbage. I need to see if I can somehow respec into this detonate dead thing, but all my points are in chaos damage, annoying game.
@@ParaFoxxen Right, we'll ignore GGG's History and how nibble they've been since [EARLY ACCESS] release. And ignore the latter part as well, or that SRS doesn't overperform compared to shock builds, totem builds, monk builds, trigger builds, and so on... all that which require no express gearing to make work well. Going into that, we can also ignore PCG builds and warcry builds. And we'll finally ignore that we only have 1/3rd of the game available at this moment while everyone is still figuring out baseline balance.
I was trying to make a similar concept with my blood mage, though without corpse preservation. My idea was to explode the skeletal warriors and kill them over and over, pairing this with "Cast on death" and all the revive speed nodes. I gave up in Act 3 because of how much of an investment this would require and I had no way of making this really work at such low levels. I am new to the genre, so maybe mine wasn't such a great idea XD. It would have been something like: - skeletal warriors (they are cheap) - the support that makes them explode - 50% max health support - infernal legion (maybe???) - Corpse explosion with minion pact - Flammability - Cast on Minion death (fire spells) The idea was that pairing this with the max revive speed from the nodes and a cleric would also regenerate 2% max life on minion res, helping with the sustain.
Exciting to see other people do what I was doing, but better. I had this idea in mind but didn't quite know how to execute it and assumed monster health scaling would outpace minion health scaling, thereby making it more worthwhile to use monsters unless desperate.
What i'm doing (i just got to know about this build) is leveling up with minions, arsonist, skeletal warrior from sceptre, raging spirits and firewall to summon them and pain offering + vulnerability to support
I'm currently playing this build but in a6(cruel A3), for leveling just use bonestorm to kill first mob and then DD,DD,DD 。 one thing is you must use scattershot as support gem for bonestorm, because when channelling, bonestorm gain 1 projectile each time; but with scattershot it gain 3 projectile . bonestorm is very strong against boss, ball lightning+ligthning wrap combo to have 20% shock effect, each fully channelled bonestorm can remove like 5% of boss HP .
Thanks for this scattershot tip. I didn’t think it was worth it since it’s like 7 projectiles but didn’t realize it adjusted the channeling portion. Nice.
@@YakultLitro yes, its same machenic as scattershot to ember fusillade, each time you press button with scattershot support, you got 3 "fire balls" around you instead of 1 :)
there are also nodes % of +1 projectiles in the passive tree. If you use all of them, you have 50% chance for +1 projectiles. This works with channeling(adding projectiles during channneling) , so you channel max bonestorm 50% faster. Now with boost to bonestorm, that skill should melt bosses like nothing
small correction on grasping wounds it only works on life so its basically only oneshot reduction, still good just not put to full use (so not really 25% damage reduction). Just like it would be with progenesis
Kinda found out cleric useless personally - it has so few HP compared to Brutes, that they just keep revive cooldown always activated. So i pathed to 25% faster revive instead, and only having Brutes. There are other supporting minion nodes next to it, so you can have 55k life, and you can path here through ES nodes to replace these at the right side, so you dont actually lose anything.
This is getting nerfed for sure. They philosophy of not wanting you to use low level skills at high level will kill the low cost at the very least. But I'm curious to see how fast they react to this. :D
@@codranine6054 Hey this is fine by me, you're trading clear speed for single target. But they just talked about how they don't want us using lower level spells in our endgame builds, so I'm thinking this falls under that. 🤷♂
This is one of the best build guide I've seen so far. Concise, easy to follow, and deeper dives on really important points. I've not played PoE for a decade and coming back to this game confused me a lot about how to make an effective build. Most videos I've seen assume the viewers already have game knowledge to a certain degree and are quite hard for me to make sense. Props to you.
Nice build! I just got to maps with a bonestorm/DD build and it’s decent but you are just a sitting duck when casting if your skellys die. Definitely gonna tune my tree and bit and try this out.
I'd love to see a leveling of this build! I Have a bloodmage in act 2 that I didn't further level up. I'm playing with a lightning sorc but I would love to go back to my bloodmage
@@Paolini_18in all honesty I got a bit bored with it and it wasn't very good for bossing. The sustain was also annoying at times and really had to get good mana regen items. I've got 2.2k health and 3.2k es with this build so I'm typically running around with 4.4k health and 6.4k es. This build does soooo much more damage especially to the bosses.I was having a bit of a hard time in tier 7 maps with the frost wall and fireball. now I'm upto tier 11 and breezing through it. My only complaint is sometimes the minions get stuck on doorways and thin bridges in the mire map. And they lag behind you a little sometimes but I've learnt if you just cast detonate and a brute will run over to where you casted it and explode. you can also weapon swap back and foward if they're stuck

I made a crit focused cold blood mage, no minions. Basically if you took a cold sorc and gave them bloodmage. Ice walls leave life remnants when you destroy them and they prevent projectile damage, also gives a moment to regen hp and mana. Comet with expanse and concentrated effect(basically 40% more dmg without much penalty on aoe) this is used to break down the walls that the enemies are stuck behind. And eye of winter, with 2 different crit enhancements. One that increases crit on immobilized enemies ie frozen. And the one that increases by 25% critical chance up to 100% after a few second, and the one that increases damage but decreases cast speed. Im half way through cruel and its carried me this far and i see no signs of slowing down. I clear mobs and bosses real quick. Cant wait to take it to endgame.
Did you do the earthquake planner on maxroll? If you did Im enjoying it! I'd love to see a video of the build and explain what skills use which weapon slots
damn I was thinking "I can probably make DD work on infernalist, we have demon form" but demon form seems like it unequips your weapons or something, it deletes most of your spirit bonuses and the chance to consume corpses from the wand is gone
Tried any of this with Decompose from the Unique Boots Corpsewade? I'm SSF and shelved the bloodmage. Contagion + ED + all Area effect range and Chaos damage nodes is the most fun map trash clearing I've done with any build. But, bosses take forever because Bloodmage limits your mana usage, so it's ED spam and slowly draining them. Was going to just redo the whole build to yours and try it, but then I remembered corpsewade. Base it's ~8% minion health instead of 20% of detonate. There are a LOT of chaos mods though.
Nice buuld. Just yesterday afternoon I was thinking at one point detonate dead was the most broken thing in poe, would it work in poe2. I guess it does. One thing tho, about map clear. I remember in poe 1 you could clear a whole.screen with one detonation, as it chain detonated everything. Maybe there is something similar in poe 2 you missed for mapping?
5:17 just to make sure again, Bloodmage DD features in its left crit chance/bonus ascendency, which 20% corpse life explode can be benefit, is that right? In POE1, I thought only flat dmg can crit, not the explode dmg.
Sacrifice skill gem DOESN'T destroy the minion when you use them as a corpse?! holy shit that changes everything. I need to finish leveling my blood mage. I was rocking ed/cont, which has very sustainable cast rate / costs
I was looking at Minion Pact ages ago and knew it was gonna be OP. instant kill minion then explode or trigger on minion death etc. so many OP options. I prefer doing damage myself its more fun and challenging. It might be fast for leveling campaign though .
I'm curious about a similar idea except rather than detonate which does 20% of the minion life, using decompose which does 30-40% of the minion life as poison which can be scaled with chaos modifiers. Poison bypasses ES, and decompose can auto trigger with unique boots

if you're on console you'd have to turn on manual targeting in the options, It makes it so you change targets with the right stick instead of the game auto choosing.
Awesome build, I randomly happen to have the wand already, so I am definitely gonna try this. I'll put my own spin on it since I am Chronomancer and I don't think it will be worth going for crit
Hey man this is awesome content. I'm running hexblast but I took your setup on my weapon swap passive tree! I only have 26k hp brutes and no corpse conservation but i just drop 3 free nukes on bosses with basically no passive tree investment every 7 seconds 🤣

I still haven't got a testing answer on if physical spell damage effects the secondary damage of DD. Brutality works because its all phys, but im not sure if if "spell" is included in this when it comes to the secondary damage. in POE 1 this was not the case, and it makes sense why. If you posted a video proving that "spell damage" works or does not that would get a lot of traffic.
@@devonsmith4822 it does work. It’s also quite easy to test. Remove phys damage increases to spells modifiers skill points and you will see that the explosion damage drops. It’s a new game so we don’t have to be limited by how poe 1 works. If a skill has “spell” and “phys” tag, then increases to spell and phys will apply to it.
@ yeah I am skeptical, I am not noticing any increase with physical spell damage, only phys and critical bonus. Just because the tag says spell, it doesn’t specify if the maximum health damage scales in the gem like the fire damage. Also if you increase spell damage, obviously the fire damage increases so it would seem like your damage increases no matter if it effected the physical.
In the guide you show "Critical Hit Chance" as a desired mod on the helmet. Does this actually do anything? Or would it need to be critical hit chance for spells to be useful? Thanks for the great guide!
@@angussinclair9887 global critical hit chance applies to any skill, spells and attacks. It is a very nice place to get crit. A crit chance jewel only give max 15% and on helmet you can get over 20%.

I don't know if you've noticed, but the gear you've displayed is showing "increased critical hit chance" and not "increased critical hit chance for spells". Is this intentional?
Tbh I would just make it so Blood mage just allocates Blood magic with the added bonus of having the blood orbs and be done with it. Nobody would complain.
@@Grish0 You're not understanding what I'm saying. I would CHANGE the ascendancy node so it would Allocate Blood Magic in the passive tree. (Same thing you can do with an amulet) But keep the blood orb bonus --> 1x health cost but have pretty big bonus on top.
@@simhanssens7331 ah yes, this would be better, even the cost be 25% 75% would still be somehow managable. The sad thing is that spells get flat dmg from lvl and high lvl skill gems in poe 2 have their price rising exponential with lvl.

Im consoler player. My DD doesn't detonate my minion correctly, it keeps automatically detonating corpses on the ground, sometimes far behind me. Any idea to solve it?

Does the extra critical strike chance/damage for 40 maximum life apply to the life gained from life remnants also or just the native maximum life you have ?
I'm not sure that this build is better on a blood mage than on an infernalist. Demon form can get insane spell damage % buff (if you keep your HP low with Ghostwrithe and Ming's Heart, your hp regen will allow infinite demon form up to 150+ stacks); you do lose corpse conservation on a wand, which is annoying, but you can get some free spirit from reserving life on infernalist, too, and your hound might be even healthier than brutes are, though I'm not 100% on this. Am I missing something? Blood Mage only makes this build somewhat tankier and easier to gear up (no required uniques like in Demonform), but are there other benefits?
Have you tested minion instability on your brutes? Since it makes minions that become low life explode dealing 15% max health as fire dmg was wondering if consuming them as a corpse would count
Here's my question how do i get my detonate dead to target my minion when there are mobs and bodies all over? It seems to prioritize Bodies on the ground even when they are not close to my cursor over where my mouse is hovering on my minion.
is the Crit Damage per Life node working for you? my blood mage doesnt get any extra Crit Damage from that node(tested via respec and calculating how much it should be) and its also a known bug currently. If it doesnt work for you either the damage should be even higher when its fixed
How do you provide boss carry services with this build because I tried th 4th floor trial of the sekhenmas boss with 2 friends as a test and I wasnt doing nearly enough dmg for it to be a comfortable fight or carry service. I am lvl 88 with 4 asc and a 6 link detonate dead and about 47k life on the brutes(lvl 28). Level scaling was also off. Am I missing something? Like I could also try a much lower area lvl and add about 4 more levels from 20 lvl gem and helm and +5 sceptre instead of +4 but not much more.
you have both Brutality linked to detonate dead and Madness in the bones on the tree (6% more dmg of phys as chaos dmg), I dont think they work together, have you tested?
Well detonate dead does a portion fire and 20% of maximum corpse life as physical damage so it works for the bigger chunk...the fire damage is useless anyway.

You are reading the node incorrectly which is a mistake any noob would make that has no ideea what he is talking, it states "gain 6% of physical damage as chaos damage" not "chaos damage as extra damage."

Detonate dead now can no longer deal any elemental or chaos damage if added on top of it via +chaos to spells +whatever elemental damage to spells, now you take that damage from the spell and add the nodes, the initial trigger cannot do elemental/chaos damage, but the additives from trees will still apply, as the support only applies to the spell it self not to what comes from tree. Cuz in PoE2 it works different than in PoE1....P.S tested some things and the tooltip doesn't show anything...it's just bonkers..

They won’t do anything until the top guys are tired of SRS… GGG even worse than Blizzard on balancing. Quite hilarious if you think about it.

hexblast have way faster map clear if you use boots with decompose. But this build is superior in boss kill

Level arsonists from 6 till end of campaign most likely, they're incredibly powerful until endgame

as someone playing a version of this build level with bonestorm+detonate dead bonestorm is great for act bosses and you can just detonate dead normies

I have detonade dead on level 21 right now it's 380 mana 153 life. It'll be manageable I think if it's just the cost scaling up

not a leveling build but you can switch to it at start of maps, i used a bone build to lvl up but that build required a divine ring

I haven't found one to be honest and it sure sucks :/

damn I was thinking "I can probably make DD work on infernalist, we have demon form" but demon form seems like it unequips your weapons or something, it deletes most of your spirit bonuses and the chance to consume corpses from the wand is gone
We have very similar builds but different ways of playing them very interesting

I'm SSF and shelved the bloodmage. Contagion + ED + all Area effect range and Chaos damage nodes is the most fun map trash clearing I've done with any build. But, bosses take forever because Bloodmage limits your mana usage, so it's ED spam and slowly draining them.
Was going to just redo the whole build to yours and try it, but then I remembered corpsewade. Base it's ~8% minion health instead of 20% of detonate. There are a LOT of chaos mods though.
Nice buuld. Just yesterday afternoon I was thinking at one point detonate dead was the most broken thing in poe, would it work in poe2. I guess it does. One thing tho, about map clear. I remember in poe 1 you could clear a whole.screen with one detonation, as it chain detonated everything. Maybe there is something similar in poe 2 you missed for mapping?
Are you thinking of DD of Chain Reaction? That was a transfigured gem (not the base one)

just to make sure again, Bloodmage DD features in its left crit chance/bonus ascendency, which 20% corpse life explode can be benefit, is that right?
In POE1, I thought only flat dmg can crit, not the explode dmg.

Sacrifice skill gem DOESN'T destroy the minion when you use them as a corpse?! holy shit that changes everything. I need to finish leveling my blood mage. I was rocking ed/cont, which has very sustainable cast rate / costs
It does destroy the minion. The build uses an unique wand that gives 25% chance to not destroy the corpse. 75% chance to still kill the brute.
@@Shoreux With the corpse conservation support and a couple nodes on passive tree, you can get up to 80% chance to not consume

I was looking at Minion Pact ages ago and knew it was gonna be OP. instant kill minion then explode or trigger on minion death etc. so many OP options. I prefer doing damage myself its more fun and challenging. It might be fast for leveling campaign though .

Seems like the ones I saw on forums have too many colors in them which I find very confusing
I'm curious about a similar idea except rather than detonate which does 20% of the minion life, using decompose which does 30-40% of the minion life as poison which can be scaled with chaos modifiers. Poison bypasses ES, and decompose can auto trigger with unique boots

if you're on console you'd have to turn on manual targeting in the options, It makes it so you change targets with the right stick instead of the game auto choosing.

Hey man this is awesome content. I'm running hexblast but I took your setup on my weapon swap passive tree! I only have 26k hp brutes and no corpse conservation but i just drop 3 free nukes on bosses with basically no passive tree investment every 7 seconds 🤣
@@pnzerfst I’m theory crafting lighting spark for mapping and weapon swap detonate dead for bossing setup. Lighting gear is so expensive.

When I use detonate dead, it keeps locking on to other corpse. How do you make it so it only targets your minions?

I still haven't got a testing answer on if physical spell damage effects the secondary damage of DD. Brutality works because its all phys, but im not sure if if "spell" is included in this when it comes to the secondary damage. in POE 1 this was not the case, and it makes sense why. If you posted a video proving that "spell damage" works or does not that would get a lot of traffic.
@@devonsmith4822 it does work. It’s also quite easy to test. Remove phys damage increases to spells modifiers skill points and you will see that the explosion damage drops.
It’s a new game so we don’t have to be limited by how poe 1 works. If a skill has “spell” and “phys” tag, then increases to spell and phys will apply to it.
@ yeah I am skeptical, I am not noticing any increase with physical spell damage, only phys and critical bonus. Just because the tag says spell, it doesn’t specify if the maximum health damage scales in the gem like the fire damage. Also if you increase spell damage, obviously the fire damage increases so it would seem like your damage increases no matter if it effected the physical.
My only beef with this build is the skeletons take a long time move around, and the clear feels kinda slow outside of stuff like breach/ritual.
you can make them faster. also go in your game menu and keybinds set a keybind to command minions. that way you can make them move
You can use Raging Spirits and a Flame Wall to make clearing maps easier, like on any minion build.
In the guide you show "Critical Hit Chance" as a desired mod on the helmet. Does this actually do anything? Or would it need to be critical hit chance for spells to be useful? Thanks for the great guide!
@@angussinclair9887 global critical hit chance applies to any skill, spells and attacks. It is a very nice place to get crit. A crit chance jewel only give max 15% and on helmet you can get over 20%.

What is the level of the skeletal brute gem that you have?
I don't know if you've noticed, but the gear you've displayed is showing "increased critical hit chance" and not "increased critical hit chance for spells". Is this intentional?

Tbh I would just make it so Blood mage just allocates Blood magic with the added bonus of having the blood orbs and be done with it. Nobody would complain.
the cost stack, this means blood magic with x2 the cost, same with lifetap, but lifetap also has a multiplier.
@@Grish0 You're not understanding what I'm saying. I would CHANGE the ascendancy node so it would Allocate Blood Magic in the passive tree. (Same thing you can do with an amulet)
But keep the blood orb bonus --> 1x health cost but have pretty big bonus on top.
@@simhanssens7331 ah yes, this would be better, even the cost be 25% 75% would still be somehow managable. The sad thing is that spells get flat dmg from lvl and high lvl skill gems in poe 2 have their price rising exponential with lvl.

I would suggest start with DD with 3x ascendancy point. Grab the #% chance to not consume corpse nodes first, then crit nodes

Im consoler player. My DD doesn't detonate my minion correctly, it keeps automatically detonating corpses on the ground, sometimes far behind me. Any idea to solve it?

I'm not sure that this build is better on a blood mage than on an infernalist. Demon form can get insane spell damage % buff (if you keep your HP low with Ghostwrithe and Ming's Heart, your hp regen will allow infinite demon form up to 150+ stacks); you do lose corpse conservation on a wand, which is annoying, but you can get some free spirit from reserving life on infernalist, too, and your hound might be even healthier than brutes are, though I'm not 100% on this.
Am I missing something? Blood Mage only makes this build somewhat tankier and easier to gear up (no required uniques like in Demonform), but are there other benefits?

Have you tested minion instability on your brutes? Since it makes minions that become low life explode dealing 15% max health as fire dmg was wondering if consuming them as a corpse would count
I tried it. But it doesn't seem to work because they go from full life to dead. And the skill triggers on "low life"
I would highly suggest to use Infernalist for it. +6 Levels in Demon Form is disgusting

Here's my question how do i get my detonate dead to target my minion when there are mobs and bodies all over? It seems to prioritize Bodies on the ground even when they are not close to my cursor over where my mouse is hovering on my minion.

my blood mage doesnt get any extra Crit Damage from that node(tested via respec and calculating how much it should be) and its also a known bug currently.
If it doesnt work for you either the damage should be even higher when its fixed
How do you provide boss carry services with this build because I tried th 4th floor trial of the sekhenmas boss with 2 friends as a test and I wasnt doing nearly enough dmg for it to be a comfortable fight or carry service. I am lvl 88 with 4 asc and a 6 link detonate dead and about 47k life on the brutes(lvl 28). Level scaling was also off. Am I missing something? Like I could also try a much lower area lvl and add about 4 more levels from 20 lvl gem and helm and +5 sceptre instead of +4 but not much more.
How about ignite version, that would be nice for clear too
you have both Brutality linked to detonate dead and Madness in the bones on the tree (6% more dmg of phys as chaos dmg), I dont think they work together, have you tested?
Well detonate dead does a portion fire and 20% of maximum corpse life as physical damage so it works for the bigger chunk...the fire damage is useless anyway.

So it takes 6% of the physical damage portion the spell deals and adds it on top as chaos damage ? You are reading the node incorrectly which is a mistake any noob would make that has no ideea what he is talking, it states "gain 6% of physical damage as chaos damage" not "chaos damage as extra damage."

@@Grish0 uff here we go again...Brutality applies to the detonate dead... Detonate dead now can no longer deal any elemental or chaos damage if added on top of it via +chaos to spells +whatever elemental damage to spells, now you take that damage from the spell and add the nodes, the initial trigger cannot do elemental/chaos damage, but the additives from trees will still apply, as the support only applies to the spell it self not to what comes from tree. Cuz in PoE2 it works different than in PoE1....P.S tested some things and the tooltip doesn't show anything...it's just bonkers..
Dope build. Still not convinced i wouldn't just do it on Infernalist, but the getting around the blood costs is nice tech
