At the show, it was 103 degrees and Sky Ferreira performed a couple hours before and Robyn a few hours after, I was shitfaced and delirious. After watching this, almost every other week since, I can’t believe how much I didn’t appreciate it as much as I should’ve (aka I was close to death for so many factors - heat, dehydration & setlist - BUT love catching myself in the crowd every few minutes) - I have so much more of an appreciation of the curation @pitchforkmusic has and how special this weekend was
she always speeds everything up live. it's why no angel sounded a bit disappointing when it was finally released cos we'd all got used to it at the higher bpm it had been performed at for like two years prior
Charli is simply one of the best artists of the 2010s, with her tumblr era sisters she's one of the faces of alt pop (like Lana/Sky/Marina/Azealia early 2010s eras), but has (like them) at times played between mainstream and underground-ish circles. She was cyber witch, to clean pop brat, to motorcycle 90s bad girl, and then goth princess dance queen...and back again and a combo of each. She's unique, and has helped usher in an era with newer girls like Kim Petras and Slayyyter. I love that she's a girls girl and has collaborated with her contemporaries like Cupcakke, Tove Lo, ABRA, etc. She's just so deserving!
