Enjoyed these guests, thank you! They make points that are backed up with *something*. In their case, they talk about history and how it shows some things work or don't. What I dislike, from either the Left or Right, is when the guest makes a point, but there is nothing to learn - you already either agree with them or don't.
So the quick summary is sometimes markets are good and sometimes they aren't. I haven't read the book and I didn't get motivated by this youtube to do so. I should mention I am a fan of the realignment.
The free market is the worst form of markets, except from all others that have been tried from time to time. These people seem to think that their faith in government is appropriate, while others' faith in free markets is inappropriate.
I haven’t finished the entire podcast, but their main argument seems to be the no true Scotsman as it’s base argument. I hope they address this further in the podcast.
Woof...Fan of the Realignment, and Breaking Points. I appreciate the variety of views and good faith conversations, along with these two authors. But, so full of holes, selective historical references, simplistically shallow. Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh, too soft on the CCP.
The book is far from shallow (576 pages) and delves in detail into how people like you have been propagandized into believing things like universal healthcare, labor unions, and lower taxes for the rich are somehow beneficial to YOU.
The poor health of the past 40 years can be laid at the feet of Ancel Keys and the dietary recommendations from 1978 from the USDA. Government consolidated nutrition recommendations, and have created decades of chronic health problems.
@@meb3369 Do you have any defense of the “Seven Countries Study” Ancel Keys did by dropping data from the almost dozen other countries that refuted his hypothesis? Or is your skepticism of my assessment simply reflexive belief in our institutions?
I wish you would define what exactly do you mean by saying "communistic" or "socialistic"... I also would want to know why was it important for you, to say that "you are Jewish", and what do you mean by that ? Please also take to consideration, especially the 'host', that it's not the speed of your speech that matter, but it's what you talking about and the way you say it...
Excellent guests, excellent interview.
Really great book (I'm about half way through) and thank you for having these two on your show.

I dunno man these two seem super partisan. I'm not even American or Republican, but a lot of this feels like political points scoring
What would be the non-partisan approach to this topic? Free market absolutism is an inherently right wing school of thought.

Government redistribution of wealth steals the virtue of private charity. The larger the government, the smaller the people.
America is a story about the primacy of the individual and the consent of the governed.
The free market is the worst form of markets, except from all others that have been tried from time to time.
These people seem to think that their faith in government is appropriate, while others' faith in free markets is inappropriate.
The focus on the individual in America is our strength 🙃
@Victor Donati I guess that means we need to find that happy balance between the two.
You were at your strongest when your markets were tightly regulated and labor unions were still a thing.

People support policies that are framed as "here, we can give you something for free".
TDIL: market fundamentalism is when you don’t support left wing policies.
This is ironic coming from someone who claims to be a Rockefeller Republican.
@@GarlicOasis TDIL: your username = political beliefs
@@rockefellerrepublican3336 it kinda is when your username is literally a political position/belief.

This is such an unhinged conspiracy laden belief. Honestly I feel sorry for you, you clearly struggle to make heads or tails of basic reality.

Best guests you have had in a while. Keep that Vivek guy away 😂 . Let's not go back to the 1500's
These guests were the most shallow vapid partisans that you've had on in quite some time. This is quite possibly your worst episode.
It takes an instrinsic capacity to understand knowledge and wisdom
