Thank you for this! My dad and I used to go to games in the 90s and early 2000s but we simply cannot afford it now so we watch at home and reminisce about going to games.
1. The league/organization/general life is the main cause. The increase in costs of tickets is EXPONENTIALLY higher than the increase in income over that same time. People are being priced out of supporting their team just like damn near everything else in life. 2. The desire of fans to go to watch football in person. It's very obvious the passion has fallen off. Not just the attendance numbers alone but you can tell the vibes aren't the same. I've heard stories, anecdotal of course but it's easy to believe, of people having other fans ask them to either stop screaming or to sit down. If you've ever been in that environment you understand that's not how things work. 3. The product we're being given on the field is becoming less attractive when taking into account all the other frustrations that come along with going to a game. Do I really want to drive to Seattle (I HATE driving through downtown...with a passion), struggle to find parking, pay $10 dollars for a bottle of water, sit in not very comfortable seats, and then wait a half hour to get out of the area because of traffic just to watch my team play lackluster ball? Fuck that. I'll stay at home where my couch is comfy, the snacks are free and my view is probably better via the broadcast.
The price of tickets are outrageous.. the NFL n teams need to get the price down n stop the price changing n selling tickets! When the middle class can’t afford prices w tickets w decent seats, the middle class fans that are huge supporters, can’t go.. that’s just disturbing!
Great ideas and insights Brian. Just used your help to sell my tickets to a Seahawks fan! Thank you for that!!! Bought my season tickets in 2004 at $200 a pop. Incidentally the last year I lived in Seattle. Now, there about $800 a seat. I’ve live in Portland since 2005. I used to make it to basically all the games, but I work a lot of Sundays and have to make the decision to take day off ie lose income and also spend a bunch of money to get/go to a game. So I make double money if I sell my tickets and work.
If Sam Darnold played behind our O line we’d be saying:”yeah same Sam Darnold, he sucks.” Conversely, if Geno played under center in MN, he’d be an MVP candidate
Both LA teams, Arizona, Dallas, Miami, and many other NFL franchises have had massive incursions of visiting team fans for many years now. The LA teams both have to use the silent count at home games because the visiting fans routinely overwhelm the home fans. Technology has made the home viewing experience is so much better than attending in person.
I cannot imagine LOB era players ever casting aspersions on the commitment of fans. I think it says a lot about the difference in spirit between the two incarnations of this team.
I totally agree that the organization and the roster are largely responsible for this, but that doesn't absolve the fans who do sell their tickets for profit. Just because you can do it, or incentivized to do that, you are the one making the decision. I am a firm believer that CSL's and STH's that sell their seats have a responsibility to the fan base and as you said, you can't control where those tickets go. I agree with you on the ticket exchange. I am a software developer, maybe we should get together and just build it out selves lol (doubt NFL will allow it though)
Being a fan seems to have become a pay-to-play option. Fans lay bare their emotions and their wallets, billionaires take the podium when the team wins and the fans get called disloyal when the team stinks.
Love your content Brian! Real fan who dedicates to the community. You should be the Seahawks fan of the year and rewarded the tickets to the super bowl game like Norbcam last year.
Exactly. If we were dominate at home not sure a lot of fans would want to come here to see a near guaranteed loss. Now it's almost the opposite. Why not support your team, take a trip, and see a good chance your team beats our team.
When I sell, its usually to friends/family/coworkers for fave value. When I do sell on Ticketmaster, maybe once a year, i only markup to make my money back. TM charges fees to sell through them which is crap.
I find it funny to hear people saying it’s just the season ticket holders for selling their tickets to other teams fans. Like dude no way In heck that every seat is held by a season ticket holder. It’s pretty comical that’s what people are saying actually!
"The team annually sells out its 61,000 season-ticket seats in the stadium, which has a capacity of 68,740 for NFL games. There is a three-year waiting queue, the Blue Pride list, to buy season tickets. During their Super Bowl heyday 10 years ago, the season-ticket renewal rate was 99.5%. It was 96% for 2024.Oct 30, 2024"
Man DK is too smart for this - Worried his team/agent is saying go ahead and make it look like you have no resilience, lose your value so teams aren’t afraid of what team you get sold to. Set up the narrative early then on the next team flip the script. We believe everything we see not considering intent could fall closer to the 4d chess mindset. Either way, scary times.. Is this his way of saying I’m not bought in you can come and get me. 😓
Exact same thing Russ did on the way out. Calling out his offensive line. This is an interesting take ngl. I actually think it’s possible. Dk might not want to play second fiddle to JSN.
@@real.cryptici guess. He's played second fiddle to lockett his whole career. Maybe he abd Geno are both playing the sane 4d chess. I mean Geno praised bills fans for traveling well in october.
@@iron_bison idk it’s just the energy maybe he’s just reading into it too much. I mean like I thought it was odd that Dk was working out with Russ and the Steelers players and there have been rumblings about him getting traded. Like Lockett didn’t go train in the offseason with Russ it was just Dk. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dk gets traded in the offseason. Let’s say the Steelers go on a run but loose cause they can’t go into a shoot out. I can see a scenario where they want to go all in next year and make a move for Dk since Russ has chemistry with him. I wouldn’t be surprised it starts with little stuff and then it springs into place.
These are good points and I'm glad this is being discussed. Would also like to discuss how an in-stadium experience is less enjoyable due to how much is happening all. the. time. Going to sporting events now is like being in a casino. There's always some type of lame "who wore the best pre-game" feature on the jumboscreen, some bad blaring djing, some mic'ed up on-field gimmick, constant ads for concessions, and none of are "get into the game" things - all distraction and noise.
I've been a season ticket holder for five years, and I'll say it plainly: I'd prefer cover my costs by "selling out" on a few games than take my kids and watch this team disintegrate this season. I did it last season when they were falling apart. And I'll do it again this Sunday, and again and again. What people don't seem to understand is that fans like going to games to see winning ball - or at the very least competitive ball. This Seahawks team ain't competitive. At all. I'm not going to waste time and lose money. I'd prefer a Packer or Viking or Niner or Bills fan (lottsa mooolah there) go and be excited to see their teams succeed.

Your absolutely killing it this year on your Hawks coverage Brian.
Thanks for watching!

I always appreciate Mike Randle's optimism each week, even during the Seahawks' multiple low points this year.

I'm sure most players don't know about all these details

Great explanation! Thanks for clarifying the situation!

Bad teams don't have a great home field advantage. That's the team's fault, not the fans. Give fans a reason to be excited.

EXCELLENT CONTENT BRIAN 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Much appreciated!
Is it tho ?
Start winning some home games. Geno is below .500 at home since he started 2 years ago. Russ was really good at home especially the prime time games.

A majority of the seats are def season holder seats lol. Someones in denial

The 12s ticket holders sold out! Lol. It's called fan loyalty in the Northwest.
Thank you for fighting the good fight
WHAT WOULD PAUL ALLEN DO?
These prices are ridiculous
Agreed!!!
Weren’t the fans known for showing up for trash teams back in the Kingdome though?

Dumbest shit I’ve read today lmao, why would he purposely tank his own value? Why did he sign an extension after Russ was traded then?

Hawkblogger you gotta plaster this everywhere !! I’m sick of justifying myself as a ST holder.
Let’s stop beating the dead horse on this one. Come on y’all.
