You might consider adding a resilient mat on either side of the piano hinge instead of routing out the wood for it. The resilience would decrease the jarring on your joints especially since you will probably be using it on hard surfaces instead of a carpeted floor. We attached kitchen mats to my daughter’s tap board and it worked great.
Could you place hooks inside the pallet cabinet and hang mesh veggie bags for your sweet potatoes, avocados, etc? There would be airflow and the dark is good for the root veggies.
The top of the cabinet on the wheel well could have two small openings. That way the uncut centre between the two openings helps stabilize the cabinet. You could even on the inside put another piece of wood under the centre
magda beat me to it. this is what you need to do there. If you draw the oval you plan to cut out you can drill on the perimeter large enough to start the jig saw you can use that very same hole to create a "side finger hole" which will open the smaller hatch just as well. Also, if you carefully cut out the oval with a slight angle toward the center your lid will fit back on almost perfectly without making a catch rim. Anyway, listen to magda, that is the solution to maintain strength.
Instead of a garlic press I use a small flat hand grater. Easier to clean, easier on my arthritic hands and much much cheaper at any Asian market. Btw Lulu, your colourful jolly little van is my favourite. I just love it!
I just noticed the funniest thing! In the beginning of your video when you’re standing in front of the side of your van… the door handles look like eyes and the trim looks like a straight mouth. 😂 Maybe I’m just crazy. 😂😂😂 Would keeping your little heater in your back box help your shelving design behind the drivers seat? Or maybe in your pallet cabinet? And what about drilling holes with brackets like inside a cabinet so the shelves can be adjustable?
By your cabinets why not leave the counter top and just make the doors longer and remove the panels and add shelving for your produce and canned goods etc. Just a thought :)😊
or a drop-down door or 2 drop-downs? As long as your side board has interior framing supports, it should stay solid. Then secure the doors with the adjustable barrel bolts, as well. Seems like reaching down into the cupboard from the top would get to be a real pain in the butt.
I love that you are always looking for ways to improve your van! Life is change, looking for ways to make it better keeps us busy and happy! Well done Lulu!
regarding the Bluetti lights, instead of velcroing the darkening cloth to the top of the bluetti and taking it off and on or folding it back try attaching the darkening cloth to the orange cabinet the bluetti sits in. make it long enough so that you can just push the bottom back over the top of the battery where it will easily rest to view the gauges. at night you give the cloth a flick forward and it's back darkening the lights.
Great tweaks, Lulu! The sideboard is going to be really handy if you decide to put your pantry items in there... all your food in one place. I do admire how good you are about following up on each of the ideas you have for improvements. Most of us get things to a manageable level and then think, "Good enough!" Fine tuning is fun, and it "serves you well!" 💖
I like your idea of cutting an opening into the cabinet top. Two ovals would work as well. You would maintain access to both sides with some wood left across the middle of the top to prevent any possible bowing of the cabinet front or stress stacking in the top. Also, you would have smaller covers to deal with instead of one large one. Good luck with everything. I know it will turn out perfectly!
2017 Roadtrek 190 Popular, we use black duct tape, fold it over cut it to size and velcro over any light source you might see at night. One of our favorite things is a magnetic motion light that comes on when we get in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. Good luck.
Hey Lulu, love the 'tweaking' videos...and all your videos and your sense of humour. With the pallet cabinet perhaps cut in two smaller holes on each side, that way the middle is still solid for support. And yes Lulu, we do know 'what your saying'....LOL.
I would glue a piece of molding the width(front to back) of the cabinet on each side to support a shelf. Then leaving a space for the shelf to slide in and out, glue another piece to keep shelf stable.I would do that every 4 or 5 inches so you can adjust the shelf to different hights 😊
Square dowels glued to the underside (spaced 6-10 inches apart) would raise your dance floor about a half inch. This would produce better sound and provide some give so you don’t stress your joints or knees. Heavy duty Velcro can keep the two floor pieces attached on the underside or sides built up with dowels trimming the perimeters. I did this to connect 3, 5x8, sheets of birch for a portable dance floor. I also used window insulation strips on the bottom of the dowels to stabilize the floor on uneven or cement surfaces. I love your zest for living a life of joy, especially in troubling times. The Lord’s oil of gladness be with you. Psalm 30:11
What if you leave 2-3 inches of wood all across the back, then use a piano hinge to attach the 'lid' all the way across the top. So the back strip of wood would be all along the back, and the front 'lid' would be attached to the back of the wood with the piano hinge. (google a picture of a piano hinge if you aren't familiar with them.)
Thank you for making videos LuLu, that neck exercise you taught yesterday was the missing piece of the puzzle I needed. Btw, your videographer is fantastic. Your videos are great, no matter the topic.... When you eat, I wait for mealtime to have lunch with you. It would be pretty cool if you did more posture videos, I enjoyed doing stretches with you. Everybody likes hanging out with you LuLu, xoxoxo! Edit.... I know you have a lot going on, wasn't demanding any videos😂 just saying, it would be great... I'm thankful for you! hi Koolala!! once I get more settled in the routine with the posture exercises, spine stretches and flexibility stretches, I'll do another video on that. right now I'm just getting familiar with them!! 💕
Remember.... You're now going to have a bucket of shoes. You probably don't need them in that wall cabinet anymore. There ya go. Storage with a shelf problem solved! Save travels to ya!
I know you are a sewer, for your bluetti cover. 3M command has a velcro strip available. I have found that you can peel the sticky back off and actually sew it on with a machine. You can then use the other part to either stick onto your bluetti or even under your cabinet to be able to remove it during the day. I have made a shade for my RV door with black out curtain liner, it is however white and matches my door. But I know you'll find what's right for you. I curse those little lights, I swear they search out my eyeballs at night, lol
Those changes all make sense to me. I think you really have to live in a place for several months to really get the feel of the surroundings. I think you will forever be changing things. Maybe what works for now will be changed in the future when a new/better idea comes to mind. Have fun making thing happen.
LULU we are birds of a feather. I'm in my 8th year boondocking... just ordered my (4th) Transit. Excited to build again! IDK if we will ever meet but I think we'd be friends "forever more".
Great changes ahead 😊 you’re luck to have Bob and his skills. ❤ I’m pretty self capable too but, sometimes you just need a good helping buddy ❤ always a pleasure Lulu. Each time I watch your videos I learn something new 😊
Doller tree has some wire shelves, you could put command hooks in the medicine cabinet. The shelves aren't heavy duty but you can bend them a bit to fit your space.
Hi lulu! I am from Baltimore and just found you and your channel! Have been binge watching and love your meet ups and all the tips and tricks! Thank you
@@LulusWay64 your connections and circle of women looks so inviting and fun… many of my lifetime friends have moved away from Maryland to other states as we have retired… hard finding those kinds of friendships at 68… next time you are here in town let me know… would love to buy you a cup of coffee!
Your outfit looks so nice on you. I would not like those bulky support boards inside your cabinet either. Love that you continue chgs/upgrades. I am so blessed to have met you. Hope to see you again sometime.
Those "night lights" from the battery would bother me, too. Consider using some leftover reflectix and black duct tape. I would cover the reflectix with the tape so it blends in and then tape the top of it to the battery. Should work as a hinge that you can lift up and tuck up during the day. Also, have you ever used wood paint sticks for projects? They come in standard and longer sizes (for 5 gal cans). Might be good for your cabinet doors.
New sub here. For the light darkening idea on your battery, what about a tension rod(or hooks on each side)with the room darkening material or a pretty curtain? It can be pulled back or tucked back when not needed. Love your ideas!!
❤You have such a creative mind, Lulu! You don’t hesitate to ask for help via ideas etc. I think the covering on the light would be easiest and most practical using the Velcro. Thank you for sharing your life with us. ❤🙏🏻 🚐
Why didnt you reverse your screens around.the magnets would be inside. Could have a long tray on topbof the wheel well and put your cans on their sides and your can roll them along to get them out😅
Hey Lulu! We talk a few months ago..i am in VA near DC..I was saying that I was just getting a Chevy express 1500. I have it…not sure how to start yet….if you need a driveway when around DC or VA, you are welcome! I am Nathalie
Love your videos! Here's a thought, on the cabinet, instead of cutting a piece out of the top ( I think about trying to rummage around to find the laundry stuffed in there, possibly snagged?) remove the top front wood and could you find strong netting to go across the front on top? Like netting used to tie down items in your trunk or on your rack?
Instead of cutting holes into the top of the wheel well cabinet to utilize the top 6", why not keep the top intact and make the front flap down exactly like your sideways cd towers? Then you could fully see what you have inside the top section
that would be a great option except that behind that space above the cabinet doors, there is a support beam of wood going across the whole length of the cabinet, leaving about 4 or 5" of space that is available.
What about drilling two rows of holes in the side walls and inside divider wall (aka original shelf) of the medicine cabinet so that you can use shelf clips/pins and make the new shelves so adjustable? That way you can move them if needed? My home kitchen cabinets are done like that and it works great.
Someone would adore to have your “old” screens when you get your new ones! (Which, incidentally, I think are fantastic). It would be a lovely present for someone as a free giveaway pile item, or as a reward in a game. Simply thinking aloud. 😂 😂

Take the plastic off the bed and put in some scrap plywood and it will be fixed for good. You can drill holes in the plywood, so it doesn't mold. I grew up in Baltimore. I live an hour away and know the area. Don't sleep on the street in the city, it's too dangerous. They are having problems with car jackings. Middle River Walmart is safe to park and there is a Harvest Host Marina in Dundalk you can stay in that is safe. Sleep in Baltimore County not inside the city line. If you need any more info about the area, I'd be glad to answer any questions. I'm wishing you safe and fun summer travels, Lulu!
Maybe that cute medicine cabinet could also be you bathroom area for teeth and etc. also for the pallet cabinet what about making finger hole on the fronts and drop those down to access that upper storage space?
On the BLUETTI I too velcroed a piece of foamy craft mat. .29 at the craft store. I think they make kids foamy shapes out of the stuff. Only way I can describe it. 😊 works GREAT 👍
Hi Lulu 👋 😊 Have you thought about one of those mesh hanging bags for your fruits? I know how things hurt your eye so it may not be something you desire, but I thought it may be a handy way for you to have them accessible. Also for that irritating light on the bluetti 👀, I know what you mean about trying to sleep with that light, I have one on an extension cord in my bedroom, drives me nuts, what would you think about a small strip of black out curtain fastened to the wood over the top, just long enough to cover the light. They have pretty thumb tack looking push pins you could use those to fasten it to the wood. Other than I that, I’m not a real whiz at thinking of things, but you and Bob seem to be on top of it. Hope I was helpful Sending love you way Your pal Susie 😊❤
adding your slats to the underside without side support will NOT be as strong as on top. I'm not an engineer but trust me if they just stiffen the bottom they can still sag and probably break the lattice along the side, then you'll have a worse problem. you need those little L-brackets you were going to use for your added shelves to hold those extra support slats at the sides.
For inside your sideways medicine cabinet, could you use a drawer organizer and tape ail\screw it to the back to give you the partitioned storage you want?
Maybe on the counter, do the oval cut out on the left side, then on the right side - make a hole on the SIDE to reach in to that area. 🤷🏻♀️. Or do oval cut outs on the front . Idk how/if the structure layout is , if that would work
Hi Lulu, looks great! An idea for the bluetti…. In settings, you can have the display screen turn off after 30 seconds. It displays again as soon as you touch it. Then, maybe you can carefully cut some electrical tape in a circle to cover the led light on the on/off switch. It could be a simple solution for you.
When you go to settings, tap the “next” tab on the screen until you get to the third page of setting options. You will see an option for “sleep time”. You can choose 30 seconds, 1 min, 5 min or never (which is probably what you have selected)
@@LulusWay64 When you go to settings, tap on the “next” tab on the screen until you get to the third page of setting options. In that screen, you’ll see an option for “sleep time” where you can select 30s, 1min, 5min or never (which is probably what you have selected).
Watching how you needed to REALLY pull to get your shelf and cubby off the inside of the medicine cabinet, why wouldn’t you just use the same tape again? It was sooo strong.
I thought of using that gorilla tape to install the shelves, just swap out that flimsy plastic shelf for wood, but I think it might look nicer if it was properly installed. but, then again, it would be a great way to temporarily space out the shelves to accommodate my current needs, which alway change! so thanks for the idea!! 💕
Lulu, would you be able to put it into your Yakima box diagonally? I did this once with a suitcase while flying. I put other things below and some things above to help it lie diagonally.
It could be my imagination, but looking at you standing beside your van, it looks like your tires are low. Just wanted to mention it so that you could put more air in them if they need it.
Could you make a black out curtain the shape of the square the Bluetti is housed in? Velcro fabric to the lip of the red cabinet so you can remove it so see the readings.
Great tweeks, Sure happy you found a way to bring along your tap floor..:) How about if you made two smaller openings on your pallet cabinet as for your medicine I also thought I would put a container for my daily use of wipes and tooth brush , If it were my van..hehe Enjoy LuLu
my daily use stuff, like wipes and toothbrush are in my blue cabinets. that's where I keep all my daily stuff. the medicine cabinet is less convenient to get into because I usually have things on the red table and they have to be moved whenever I want to open that cabinet.
great idea, thanks!! but two problems with that. it's not wide enough to sit on the frame of the bed, and it wouldn't have any ventilation. I chose that lattice for good ventilation!! 😊
we have a promaster city that my wife and I van camp in, most times for months at a time. did you have an issue when you removed the seat for your bed by effen up the seat belt and air bag wires etc. I don't want to remove our seat because there are two of us but I want to maybe modify the backrest to fold out of the way for easy passage front to back to front. We are very stealthy urban van lifers and don't want to enter and exit from the side doors.
Bill from Pilgrim Van Builds in Ipswich MA removed my seat. after many phone calls to many mechanics, auto body shops, car stereo shops, nobody could do it and promise me the air bag light would not be on on my dash, nor that it would screw up the airbags for my driver's seat. but Bill was confident. he took out the seat and tricked the whole system to think the seat was still there. PERFECT!!! here is a video I made when I had it done: ua-cam.com/video/K22a17d6ifI/v-deo.htmlsi=ym1AZWyLlLq11AUM

maybe a cut to fit yoga mat?

You could Velcro a piece of upholstery vinyl or leather over the light. You could buy a scrap piece at the fabric store.
What if you leave 2-3 inches of wood all across the back, then use a piano hinge to attach the 'lid' all the way across the top. So the back strip of wood would be all along the back, and the front 'lid' would be attached to the back of the wood with the piano hinge. Hi Lulu

For the BLUETTI, maybe a small tension rod, with a ‘mini curtain’??
Instead of cutting one piece out of the center of your cupboard, cut two smaller ones. Divide in half and center in each half.

Middle River Walmart is safe to park and there is a Harvest Host Marina in Dundalk you can stay in that is safe. Sleep in Baltimore County not inside the city line. If you need any more info about the area, I'd be glad to answer any questions. I'm wishing you safe and fun summer travels, Lulu!
thanks.
Plywood with ventilation holes sounds like an easy, practical fix for your bed platform.
just a few boards under the lattice was the practical fix for me!!! easy breezy!!!
Maybe that cute medicine cabinet could also be you bathroom area for teeth and etc.
also for the pallet cabinet what about making finger hole on the fronts and drop those down to access that upper storage space?
thanks for the suggestions!! 😊
On the BLUETTI I too velcroed a piece of foamy craft mat. .29 at the craft store. I think they make kids foamy shapes out of the stuff. Only way I can describe it. 😊 works GREAT 👍
I know the foam you are talking about! good idea!!
It's fun making changes in your vehicle. I always do that on mine, 😂
Make two holes so its sturdier 😁
These van videos are my favorite!
Hi Lulu 👋 😊
Have you thought about one of those mesh hanging bags for your fruits?
Hope I was helpful
Sending love you way
Your pal Susie 😊❤
adding your slats to the underside without side support will NOT be as strong as on top. I'm not an engineer but trust me if they just stiffen the bottom they can still sag and probably break the lattice along the side, then you'll have a worse problem. you need those little L-brackets you were going to use for your added shelves to hold those extra support slats at the sides.
I just found your channel and subscribed. Thanks
YAY! welcome! I'm glad you are here!! 😊
Good morning Lulu 🙋♀️ Great ideas 💡 Enjoyed the video, have a great day ❤️😊
Why not flip the fence over, so the slats would be underneath ?
For inside your sideways medicine cabinet, could you use a drawer organizer and tape
ail\screw it to the back to give you the partitioned storage you want?
thanks for the suggestion!! 😊
Nice van!
Maybe on the counter, do the oval cut out on the left side, then on the right side - make a hole on the SIDE to reach in to that area. 🤷🏻♀️. Or do oval cut outs on the front . Idk how/if the structure layout is , if that would work
thanks for the suggestions!! 😊
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽good job 💞
Hi Lulu, looks great! An idea for the bluetti…. In settings, you can have the display screen turn off after 30 seconds. It displays again as soon as you touch it. Then, maybe you can carefully cut some electrical tape in a circle to cover the led light on the on/off switch. It could be a simple solution for you.
thanks for the suggestion!! I checked my Bluetti and under settings there is nowhere for me to change display screen, oh well!! thanks!!
I don't have a third screen, just two. I have the AC200P, old model!!
All these ideas are pretty ingenious 😊
Watching how you needed to REALLY pull to get your shelf and cubby off the inside of the medicine cabinet, why wouldn’t you just use the same tape again? It was sooo strong.
I thought of using that gorilla tape to install the shelves, just swap out that flimsy plastic shelf for wood, but I think it might look nicer if it was properly installed. but, then again, it would be a great way to temporarily space out the shelves to accommodate my current needs, which alway change! so thanks for the idea!! 💕
To cover your Bluetti, what about making a “curtain” the size of the entire opening and hang it with a tension rod.
thanks for the suggestion!!
How exciting😊
Lulu, would you be able to put it into your Yakima box diagonally? I did this once with a suitcase while flying. I put other things below and some things above to help it lie diagonally.
they have stickers to put over little lights to dim them
It could be my imagination, but looking at you standing beside your van, it looks like your tires are low. Just wanted to mention it so that you could put more air in them if they need it.
somebody else said the same thing!! it usually alerts me on my dashboard when I my tires are low pressure, and it hasn't. but I'll check it out!!
love your way you enjoy life
Could you make a black out curtain the shape of the square the Bluetti is housed in? Velcro fabric to the lip of the red cabinet so you can remove it so see the readings.
thanks for the suggestion!! 😊
Put the tap dance board under your mattress.
I thought of that but I prefer the ventilation and airflow under the mattress for now.
Could you put your tap board under your mattress
I could except I really prefer the ventilation the lattice provides!!
Could you do a review of your Yakima after you've used it for a while - pros & cons, what you'd like to see different?
yes, I sure will!! first I need to use it on a long trip. on shorter trips, I really don't need it!
"that sh1t bothers my eye' 🤣🤣😀
🤣😂
What about putting your tap dance floor under your mattress?
great idea, thanks!! but two problems with that. it's not wide enough to sit on the frame of the bed, and it wouldn't have any ventilation.
I wonder how hard it would be to have sliding doors instead of these, coming into your legs?
Of course you have a tap dance floor.👯I've always wanted to learn, do you give lessons?
oh goodness no!! lol I'm a beginner (perhaps advanced beginner) and I need lessons myself!!!!
Nice thanks much 😅😅😅😅😅😅🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I would love to meet you, I am about an hour from Baltimore
