HERPING AN ABANDONED AMUSEMENT PARK IN BALI (Reticulated pythons, water monitors, and more!)

- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- While on our tour of Bali, Indonesia, we stopped at Taman Festival, an abandoned amusement park to look for snakes, lizards, pythons, monitor lizards, and other reptiles, and man, this place did not disappoint! Like a scene from Jurassic World, the park is home to crumbling buildings, statues wrapped in vines and the swampy remains of an old crocodile pit!
New Reptile Adventures Videos every Saturday (at 9am Pacific)!

The colouration on those Retics is absolutely beautiful - I actually think it's much nicer than a lot of the morphs!
How do you not have over a million subs with this kind of high quality content videos
Right?!?!!!
He needs a legit TV contract
1000 percent! He's the best one by a landslide!
Who knows?😂
Thanks guys! I'm not in it for the subs, I'm in it because I love doing it and seeing that so many others love watching my vids keeps me going!
The title of Wolf Snake comes from the fact that their front (maxillary and mandibular) teeth are quite large and reminiscent of the fang-like canines of a wolf.
The word Lycodon, the genus to which these snakes belong to, originates from the Greek words ‘Lycos’ meaning wolf and ‘odon’ meaning tooth.
Thx for the information ^^
Love watching your videos, thank for producing them! The New Latin name Lycodon is derived from the Greek words λύκος (lykos) meaning wolf and οδόν (odon) meaning tooth, and refers to the fang-like anterior maxillary and mandibular teeth.
The African Snake Bite Institute says the Lycophidion capense, common name "wolf snake," gets its name from them having long, recurved teeth in both the upper and lower jaws.
Good work, bro!
was about to comment this. thnx
You two are great together! You’re both funny and lovable!
Thank you!! 😊
The baby water monitor won me over lol love those little fellas
That may have been the prettiest wild type retic ever! That thing was fired up too!
Ooh😮love Vine Snakes!! Such a beautiful one
Hands down........D.K.'s finest episode!! Jim C.
Thank you!
This looks like THE COOLEST thing I've ever seen anyone do! I am more than a little jealous, Mr. Dāv 😊
It was amazing!
That blue tint on the retic is beautiful.
That retic was insane!!!! Would love to see examples of what each wild type locale looks like and the differences. How many different locales of retic are there?!!! Have an insane and safe weekend, stay amped, and rock on!!!!
That vine snake is GORGEOUSSSSSSS
That baby water monitor was absolutely gorgeous
This video is everything I love about snakes; they really are the best animals on this planet. The diversity is amazing. They're all so gorgeous!
That retic is stunning
What a wonderful place.. the animals all look so healthy and thriving. Thanks for sharing this.
Absolute UNIT of a vine snake!! That might be the best looking one I've ever seen on video & I watch a lot of Thai herp vids!!
Basket weaving adventures? Darn it! I missed that one!! Great video!
Lol. That will never happen haha
Awesome video! Hope you guys had the adventure of a lifetime! Thanks for sharing! 🥰
The green snakes and the reticulated python were gorgeous. Y’all are braver than me grabbing those critters. :)
Wonderful! I love yours and Adam's Bali videos! 😍
Sweet! What kinds of food?! More Cow Bell!!!
Really love you and Adam together 😆 Thanks for the video, It's refreshing to see the sun 🌞 Not so much of that in Michigan currently 😀
Thanks! I'm leaving Madagascar tomorrow to go back to the freeze. Not looking forward to that
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures I wish you safe travels! I changed my UA-cam name, I figured it's safer than my name being out here 😃 Still planning on stalking all my favorites at Tinley so be prepared 🤣 🤣 🤣
All vipers are absolutely cool. I love snakes honestly but I’d never buy or own one. That retic was absolutely stunning with its colors. Super cool trip man. Stay safe n educated. Peace
retics really have an insane pattern with that golden-yellow. really cool
Probably the nicest looking wild retic I've ever seen on video.. 🤯
Thanks Dave and Adam for carrying the torch and making content that gives me the same nostalgic feeling of the Croc Hunter himself.
Thank you for the great comment!
Loved the vid, always thought the Dog Tooth Cat Snake was well, very strange. But that Retic was gorgeous. Everything was amazing. You and Adam are awesome together. Thanks again.
Thank you! ;)
Bali is super fun! Besides reptiles the ocean / surf is great warm water etc.. also quite an epic party nightlife destination!
I love it there!
Those Tera orbs are wicked cool!
Lycodon is Greek and means wolf tooth, just from the disproportionately long front teeth of the species. Nice pit viper, vine snake and of course retic. Quite a lot of diversity for an urban setting.
Wow! I’m drooling over all the gorgeous snakes! Bali is, indeed, paradise.😍
Sure is!
Looks like the absolute dream, thanks for sharing!!
It totally was and I can't wait to go back
Great video, thanks 👍
Leaning things and having a laugh 🤘🏽
That park looks amazing! Loving your and Adams herping adventures together. Also super jealous lol. Really though keep bringing the awesome content guys! Loving it!
What a great spot you found to herp at some cool reptiles. Can't wait for the next installment of this adventure you guys are on.
GOD BLESS 🐍💖🦎💖🐍💖
That wild retic is absolutely gorgeous!!!!
I love all the wolf snake species but the cat snakes boiga are my top. I absolutely love all the boiga in that area. They are all individually beautiful.
So do I!
Vine snake is really cool very unique head
Another amazing adventure! Keep them coming! And be careful!❤
Thank you! Will do!
The vine snake looks very cool
Right?
This guy is amazing
All those snakes and other creatures were perfect specimens because they are living perfect lives in that place.
I love this kinds of contents
Thanks! More on the way!
I had thought Boiga cynodon got its name from the same source as Lycodon: its actual teeth.
On the note of teeth: I found a shed one from my retic and have saved it now to demonstrate to people why they commend so much respect. Mine can't be much convinced to bite (at least once she's been convinced it's not actually always feeding time), but those knife edges on that dentition are no joke.
What an epic time
It was a blast...that you sadly missed :(
I love you two ❤
Honestly excited for the new content on Dāv's Bizzare Adventures channel.
More coming to Strange Adventures soon!
LOVE IT DAV keep it up
Retics always make me smile :)
me too!
Dāv, I love your channel(s) so much! That Retic was absolutely gorgeous. I’ve heard the Wolf snake gets it’s name because of something with its teeth but I can’t remember any more than that. I know, I’m a big help. Lol. 🐍❤️🐍 #RattleOn
Thank you! Rattle On!
That retic is gorgeous. Is that the normal wild morph?
Yes it is
While discussing how dangerous that crate is at 5:50 the ant walking around is HUUUUGE
The spelling is KRAIT, not "crate".
@Steevee14 thanks for clarification !
wow thats one chunky vine snake!
Sure was!
It’s called a wolf snake for these reasons. Named after their enlarged front teeth, which gives them a muzzled appearance similar to canines n also named for large teeth in both jaws.
Love this Video.
Thanks Liz!
I like the vine snake, it kinda reminds me of an Amazon tree boa with its flat body and its aboreal nature. Also the defense strike pose .
That baby water monitor was an awesome find, how long did it take you to capture it?
What about Kaufman's Inverted Adventures, where people can finally see tarantulas & spiders featured on Dav's channel...;);)
I may start doing that on this channel
I love monitor lizards and would of had a blast finding baby ones.
never been to asia but have been watching a lot of channels in asia. instantly recognized that wolfsnake.
Dave Kaufman's wicked adventures?
Dav I had several of The Indonesian garters back in the 1990s aka Striped keelbacks. Ah the pet trade names.
Awesome snakes aren't they?
In my opinion, the black mamba is the most dangerous snake in the world. Because of his aggressive and violent behavior... Thank you for your attractive and spectacular videos...
Most excellent video
Thank you
#RattleOn
Thanks Lance!
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures my pleasure
Nice
What happened to the croks that's were in that pond Dāv
Check what was found on Legian beach 1 week ago. That will help answer your Question. Hey Dav. Top vid mate. Big hello to you and Adam from all us.
how big of an enclosure does wickensi need
18X12X12 is sufficient lol
Imagine, in the far future-pending this was to be preserved, what a team of archeologists would think. What story would they decide for this cemetery.
Dav* "Stop it!! That's not friendly....
The re-tigg* " officer Dav.... I just want continue my commute to work . . .
Dav , any news on the king cobra movie?? Is there enough material for a full movie???
Coming next week!
Coming next week!
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures can't wait.
Man that indian guy almost stepped on a viper
Wild retics patterns and colors blow away any single morph in my opinion.
I read wolf snake comes from big teeth in front of thier mouth but don't remember where I read it cause I on my own have studied reptiles for 40 years now wish I could do what you do
Adam said “subscribe to his 78 channels” 😂😂😂
Lol! At the rate I'm going that might happen haha
A wolf snake is a slender colubrid snake, small in size, that lives in the lowland forests of southern Asia. It gets its genus name because its front teeth resemble the fangs of a wolf. Not certain if it's accurate ...
That is actually accurate
How do I go herping with you? I wanna come check out some cool wild animals, in the wild! Lol :-)
All these retics are moderately skinny. Would you say this is a healthier weight comparison of what “domestic” retics should be closer to?
These aren't skinny. These are the way retic are supposed to look :)
If that black ant is any size comparison, crawling around on that Malayan krait, then it really was a “little” baby, I guess! Tiny!
wolf snake comes from the enlarged teeth inthe front of the mouth hence the genus name lycodon
This is a little known fact but the name wolf snake actually comes from the fact that these snakes are a species of wolf. The reason that these wolves look like snakes is just convergent evolution. Occasionally you will see them howling at the moon and hunting in packs.
Ditto what @summitserpants said. They have canine teeth. Thats crazy. They were also discovered on the night of a full moon. Na just kidding 😂
At ~9:20 - "timorensis"? Could you have meant to say: TRIMERESURUS ?
Wolf snakes get their name from their big ol “canines”, not fangs, just big teeth 😊
How big do the retics get there? Was that one a baby? Or is it a dwarf retic? Where's reach out reptiles? Lol 😂
They do get big. The drawls are from a couple islands over
3:32 Crap, I almost thought that was a crocodile's snout there in the water next to your hand 😦
The wolf snake is called that because of its teeth wolf like teeth
Dav: Ricky Mack is definitely alive and well plus back in a cool Aussie video....on another upstart YT channel. I do not wish to step on toes so if you'd like to check out this video (first in well over a year!), let me know and I shall happily!! Jim C.
Wolf snakes are super cute, IMO. But apparently not really anyone seems to be working with them in Europe. Does anyone know the reason they're not that popular in the hobby?
*DK;* “Hmm, what’s in there?”
*Female guide;* “Why don’t you go swim and find out?”
*Dave pushes female guide into Red-bellied Piranha infested water & continues tour.*
Lol! I would never do that to her...there are no piranhas in bali :)
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures Oh I know Dav, you da man! It’s that Adam dude I don’t trust... he’s Canadian you know...
🤣 _J/K, I love Adam... even if he IS making ppl pay for the same content you’re showing gratis here! lol
💜💚🥰🥰💚💜
Why would a reptile need to absorb the suns heat on the Equator when the environment is a constant 32c by day and 24c at night. I understand absorbing the sun heats in northern latitudes, but not on the Equator. By the way that reticulated python, was the most beautiful one I have ever seen.
Subscribe to this man!!!!!!
Dog tooth cat snake- boiga cynadon. The largest species of the boiga genus. After this video and the gift it left dav its name should maybe be changed to “dog sh*t cat snake”
👍👍👍👍🫶🏻
Herping with a beautiful thi woman lucky you Dave. I would love to have a beautiful girl that likes to catch snakes and lizards
Cool content, but something about it just makes me feel like some of those were pets brought to that location for filming. just didn’t feel like authentic herping (I could be wrong) content it felt more like a scripted wannabe TV show
