I was diagnosed with two simultaneous breast cancers ( both estrogen positive, one HER2 positive) last year and did chemo had double mastectomy and in October had my ovaries removed. I take letrozole daily and am still getting Herceptin every three weeks until February. As brutal as chemotherapy and the mastectomy were the estrogen blockade was worse. I had no idea how bad the menopause side effects were going to be and it is a daily battle. My joints ache, insomnia, zero sex drive, intrusive dark thoughts, and round the clock hot flashes have truly made me look back at chemo like it was the easier part of this treatment because I knew it would end. I exercise daily and take a very serious approach to my nutrition. I try to have a positive mindset and am grateful for everyone in my life. I consider myself lucky but it is a daily battle.
I have the exact same side affects 3 years later 😢 I did have radiotherapy too but the menopause symptoms were ruining my life! 1 and 1/2 years of using patches and I now need to get a full hysterectomy as they keep making my uterus react very badly. It’s been a process and still going though it … but I’ll get there and so will you 💜🤗
You may relay this information to your oncologist. They can change your AI. I haven’t started my AI yet but I’ve already made it clear I won’t live with bad side effects from the AI and I’ll take my chances without it.
I did first round of chemo treatment I was ok now on break IAM sick and my beard and hair are falling out I don't go back till Feb 12 2024 AD THANKS FOR YOUR WISDOM ON CHEMO TREATMENT IAM EATING SOUPS AND VEGGIES GOD BLESS U
I don't find hair loss difficult given the other side effects I am going through like loss of taste and so on! Be confident in yourself and the hair comes back!
I have had the worst chest and back pain/tightness/compression plus annoying headaches since starting chemo over 2 months ago from the AC combo and I still have 12 taxol sessions that remain. I pray everyday that these awful symptoms I’m experiencing are not forever. The pain is unbearable some days and I’m desperate to feel “normal” again….
Omg! Thank you so much for talking about your symptoms. I thought it was just me, experiencing back and lower back pain, it’s so bad, I cry, because literally i can’t walk, my back goes into spasms. It’s horrible. Praying for you and anyone fighting this difficult battle. I get everything, tiredness, nausea, loss of taste, I crave certain foods and when I put in my mouth, i throw up right away. I’m on my fourth chemo out of 6. Can’t wait to wake up from this nightmare. I really hope you’re doing better.
Dear DOCTOR AMY IAM the one with the Beard and hair I could not breathe it was scary I called my daughter and told her she came and got me took me to the hospital and I have lung cancer I asked doctor if I just want back home 🏡 to the woods how long would I have Doctor said 6mos longer if I do chemo and I know what my daughter would like me to do she is helping me through all of this IAM A single father I raised my daughter for day one she's 35yrs old we do not want to loose one another GOD BLESS U
Chemo is such a usual turn. I am taking Gemcitabine and Docetaxel into bladder. I was told no hair loss. But tired most of time. Clear for 6 months but still tired. Still have hair
I'm suffering financially due to paying bills late, suffering layoffs, wrecking my car because my brain doesn't work like it used to. I seriously regret getting chemo a year ago for my early stage cancer.
Dr Amy, thank you for the protein and exercise tips and recipes! Your information has greatly helped me through the terrifying experience of chemo the past three months, 3 rounds out of 6 so far. I will continue to watch and share your videos, and trying the yummy recipes, especially with those currently experiencing the same situation.
I have finished two infusions of folfox6. Surprisingly my second infusion was better than my 1st. During the 10 days in between I made sure to keep my calories 1500 to 2500 a day. I'm on ketosis but I had a lot of nutrail keto granola, greek yogurt, coconut milk, cashews, almond butter leading up to the infusion. During the 3 day infusion lots of water but I cut my calories one meal a day 1200 calories. I supplement berberine, milk thistle and drink green tea.
I'm having chemo and radiation treatments for throat cancer..........had sepsis after the first round of chemo that put in the hospital for 6 days.....am now waiting to see about my second round.....am told have half the white blood cells, red ones are nill.....and platelets are barely noticeble.....supposed to restart on the 30th...rats everyday except weekend......
I got cervical cancer. Felling tired . Some day's it's ok some day's it's worse. Like to be alone I did camo and radiation. For 6 weeks bleeding stopped. Any other advice. 😍
You will feel normal again it takes time though. Eat as much protein as you can. English muffin with sausage on it and if you can tolerate it add an egg. McDonald’s sausage egg McMuffin. Egg and sausage has lots of protein. You won’t feel like eating but do it as you will feel better. Drink lots of cool water. Tell you dr you are nauseous so they can tweak your meds until you don’t feel this way
My white blood cells remained low due to lupus but now I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Completed surgery and may have to do chemo. I am concerned about having to do chemo when my white blood cells are already so low
Nevermind, just rewatched the introduction and picked up on the words "side effects you can do something about" as there is nothing you can proactively do about the cardiac damage then this topic would not apply, thanks
I had simultaneous chemo with radiation. I was done 6 months ago... STILL I AM EXHAUSTED!!! When does that end? Or have I just become lazy? I also have some mild (thankfully) neuropathy in toes and fingers. I know that won't go away by itself so I am following some of your suggestions. I also just started in home PT and OT. Mainly because I had Pulmonary Fibrosis BEFORE Lung Cancer. But after radiation concurrent with the Chemo it has thrust my PF into HIGH GEAR. I am now oxygen dependent. Making it VERY difficult to move at all. There are days when I honestly feel it would be better for me to choose Hospice and let nature take its course. But oncologist says I am nowhere near there. Maybe not according to my Stage 3B NACLC, but probably am to PF! I just feel like the struggle is no longer worth it.
God Bless you all with returning wellness ❤ 💕✝️🙏🏼 I only deal with menopause and those symptoms are MOST annoying... if only someone would have told us how much to appreciate our body PRE THAT🥹💕😳
I have ended up with fibromyalgia with unending pain from nerve damage. If i had it to do over again would just have radiation. Dixie Anderson PS Have you had chemo?
I had nausea n lost my hair before going on 2nd cycle start to grow back to surgery now waiting color and the back yes very tired u look great glad your doing so well

Hi, just a question if you had your ovaries removed you still need the medication to block estrogen?
@@SavedbyGraceSETT yes. I had my ovaries removed many years ago and I still have to take AI.
@@hopeinternationalsolutions9486 I wish you the very best 💕

Check out Joe Tippens
Hang in there... God speed
I am facing having to make a choice. To me, 6 extra months with all the sickness, is not worth it.
Thank you chemo has made me so sick. It been over a month since my last chemo and still weak or sick. It comes and goes
So sorry to hear how do you feel now

Is it advisable for an 84 year old stage 4 ovarian cancer patient to undergo chemo?
What? Are you serious? The chemo itself could kill you!
I got cervical cancer. Felling tired . Some day's it's ok some day's it's worse. Like to be alone I did camo and radiation. For 6 weeks bleeding stopped. Any other advice. 😍
My nausea is absolutely awful, I have tried medication to prevent it, but it has made it worse. I don’t think I will ever feel normal again.

I finished chemo October 2023 I am not sure of the cause of severe weight loss?
Are amino acid supplements ok to take during chemo treatment?
THANK YOU SO MUCH DR AMY FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK IN GIVING US ALL THE INFO.
My white blood cells remained low due to lupus but now I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Completed surgery and may have to do chemo. I am concerned about having to do chemo when my white blood cells are already so low
AC dense dose chemo made me severely sick few hrs after infusion.
What about the cardiac issues, 66% probability with herceptin?, not counting the other drugs
Nevermind, just rewatched the introduction and picked up on the words "side effects you can do something about" as there is nothing you can proactively do about the cardiac damage then this topic would not apply, thanks
How about fingers and lips turign dark?

Good morning happy Sunday.
If the growth factors aren't working?
I tried to register for a session, but since I am from a different country, the system does not accept my phone number for registration.
You can leave the phone number blank
The chemo makes my arthritis very bad, I am in agony for the 1st week after chemo.
