- My review of the Hawkeye Thumb 4k camera. This is very similar camera to the Runcam Thumb Pro, however it's not only cheaper but also has way more features!

Hi Giz, I have bought this camera some times ago and can't find a mount to put it on a Pan servo, how did you mounted it on your plane?

Haha yeah not a imaginative name, but still a much better camera than the Runcam variant IMO
So the gyro is only for post-edit? You can't have live stabilized FPV image?
I would like to use FPV with an RC car, but feel that the camera is shaking way too much, compared to what it would be to actually sit inside a car (you keep your head upright)
Will you test the hawkeye thumb 2? Not sure what to think about magnetic mounting but control by app and internal battery seems nice. Would like to know If the imagequality improved!
They did contact me a while ago regarding the new thumb 2, and asked me to confirm my address, but so far not received anything. Hopefully will soon though, I'd be keen to try it out

Yeah it's a great fov! My favourite thing was the ability to playback videos direct from the camera to goggles. Very cool
Would it be possible to share a link to the manual. I don't fly with an FC so want to see what the internal OSD options are.
Runcam 4k thumb seems to have slightly better picture quality but at nearly twice the price. Amazing.!
I had some odd behavior with the Hawkeye camera (4K like run cam Hybrid) that it decides to FORMAT the camera after detecting that of some reason the sd card may be corrupt! That happened in flight and you simply get a message that the sd is corrupt ... then it reboots the camera .. and your SD Card has been formatted. After talking to Hawkeye they explained that this is no bug but an intended feature!
Did you experience anything like that?
I haven't. And actually, one thing I like about the Hawkeye thumb camera is it has the ability to repair corrupted footage. After a crash I had a file that was corrupt and unplayable, but in accordance with the manual, I popped the SD card back in the camera and powered it up, and afterwards the corrupted file was repaired. Actually a very cool feature

its a mixed bag for me DR is much less than Thumb Pro V2. but colors look way better. funny enough both cameras had Firmware updates and both look much better now and it's more difficult to chose and to check befoe buy.

Would this camera work to be used as a discreet body cam? I need 4k and video stablization. GoPros are too big.. think this will work well?
Potentially, yeah, I guess so. You'd have to power it by a usb power bank hidden in a pocket or something, and you'd need to put some black tape over the led, but with that done would probably work fairly well

You should give Davinci Resolve a try pretty sure it supports h.265 and it's brilliant, also that gnb battery is that the 18650 or the 21700 one? Looking at getting one .
I've actually got davinci resolve, I've had it a few years. Don't really use it though as I find it a bit confusing lol. It's a 18650 pack, it's very good, would recommend
I have an Android app on my phone for translate the text and picture with text so the translate to this sticker from the top to the bottom is 1.Support the family 2.For Grocery shopping 3. For teasing girls and finaly bottom number 4. For driving.
A side by side comparison with the $300 Go2 would've been nice if you have one.
That would have been a good comparison, however I no longer have a insta360 Go2. I did do a comparison between that cam and the Runcam Thumb Pro last year tho, and concluded the Thumb Pro was the better option (for fixed wing pilots specifically)
it's great option as rear camera, some FC has switchable camera source (eg. Matek) It's a big surprise for me that this camera doesn't have a microphone,
It does have a microphone? I provided a audio sample at 22:45
This 4k camera looks amazing! I am still using analog video (rush tank solo) and maybe in the near future I'll change to the Walksnail HD system. But if I can connect this camera to my analog vtx and have 4k video, why should I buy an HD system which is a lot more expensive? Probably a silly question? 🤔
The advantage to Walksnail is being able to see more whilst you're actually flying. Rather than try navigate via a low quality analogue image, you can see the world in HD. If you're not worried about having a HD image during flight though, and only want HD footage to look at after, then this camera would be a great option for you 😊

Those stickers say "For Monetary Clicks", "For Grocery Shopping", "For Picking Up Chicks", and "For Driving Around", from top to bottom.
Someone else translated the stickers and had similar (but slightly different) results. Very strange either way lol
