An odd bit of Trivia: if you have NSMB2 Gold Edition (Which I believe was the pack-in already installed version on some 3ds systems that came with the game), the "definitive" version with dlc already rolled into it, dying doesn't fail you out of a pack, but instead boots you into the next level.
@@StrawHatZethyyes except the 40$ dlc try to waste as much time as possible to make you feel like you got your money’s worth after the devs are burnt out from making the main game. Unless you are playing kh3 re:mind
It didn't do that in SMB3 either, though. 3 had two tanuki power ups. The leaf gave Mario just the ears and tail like this game. Then there was the full tanuki suit, a much rarer power up, that not only gave Mario flight and the tail whip, but also gave him the ability to turn into a stone statue.
those did not release worldwide nor fully since japan got a bunch of elevels that america didn't get and europe never even got the levels at all despite having localized data for them on the actual cart that was then used for the wii U/NSO release
Physical downloadable content? How does that work? I get the argument, tho. But back in my day, we called them expansion packs, and they had their own big boxes, too. Didn't have fancy-shmancy internet to deliver them, either! We had to drive to the game store, up and down the hill, BOTH WAYS, *IN THE SNOW,* *_YOU KIDS HAVE IT EASY._*
I remember buying the base game for new super Mario Brothers 2, and then randomly I looked on the eShop one day and it said that I had the license for the Gold edition, so I just installed that instead. And it had all of the DLC on it
Has there ever been a bigger spike in difficulty for 2D Mario since the Impossible pack? If not then I find it funny that it’s found in this of all games
The final level of Mario Wonder was a massive difficulty spike. I beat most levels within 1-3 lives, 10 at most; Special World levels included. But the final level took 100+ lives and around 4 hours to beat, literally a fourth of my total playtime for a hundred-percenting it. Most of the level was well-designed, but the last 10% was like a troll level; I kid you not, I literally used a tape measure to beat it.
And Fun Fact, unless I'm remembering this wrong, the Gold Edition also allows you to continue when you die in a level. You don't have to re-do the entire pack, you can just go on to the next level with no real penalty (aside from missing out on getting more coins, I suppose)
You can only get it if you buy a 3DS that still has it legally pre-loased onto it. And currently its the only way to get the DLC without torrenting. Otherwise, there's also the option of pirating the game onto a hacked 3DS.
@@Zippy_Zolton Well that's because they don't sell them digitally or make cartridges of them anymore, and all those digital exclusives are lost without piracy anyway.
