This makes me wonder if the same photon entering glass, or a diamond, is the same photon exiting. I can see how the behavior within the medium would act like a wave, but cannot understand a wave form of light in what we call a vacuum, even though now we say there is no such thing, as empty space isn't really empty. It's full of electromagnetic radiation. I wonder about dark matter and whether it is expired radiation. Expired being, it still exists, but has lost it's power but not it's gravity. But I don't get this wave form. Watch it on any graph..on an x y graph, and tell me what it in causes the photon to keep returning to the X axis, drop below it, then turn, move above the axis, and then turn around to keep forming a wave shape as it moves forward. I can understand a shape moving forward in the shape of a wave, but not something that is traveling is a wave form...ala a photon curving around and around the X axis while moving forward. What's causing the wave shape? I believe waves and photons are not really understood by the general public, and we only presume we understand them. Especially waves. Then again, as they say light can be both, then you are stuck wondering what the heck is making radiation move at the speed it moves at. Where the heck is it going? Is it really only describing the medium it's traveling in, in a continuous exchange of energy at the atomic level? What's to keep us from stopping a photon cold and studying it? And why does a Higgs particle only exist for such a short time? This....disintegration...is it as important as formation?

    Fake hypothesis and nothing....
Because of if collisions of light take place , after collision it will be unidirectional.....😊😢😢😢

i think if you are doing national 5 physics, you need to put it down as 300,000,000 m/s or 3x10 8 ms -1 (sorry can't do "powers of" or "scientific notation" on youtube).

300,000 km is right, but in physics it must be in metres unless otherwise asked for.

My theory is the universe is stretching light that's how it moves I'm pretty sure. the reason its slower than the expansion of the universe is because of absorption

So we can measure how the speed of light changes through different mediums here on earth and then make laws that governs these effects. But how can we use light as a measurement device or tool to calculate the distance to anything in space when we dont understand dark energy? We cant prove or disprove its effects either way because we dont know what it is. So how then can we say with any certainty that stars and distant galaxies and anything else in "outer space" is as far away as claimed to be?

By using parallax (the angle size relative to the rotating motion of the earth) or ,in some cases, spectra, where the location of specific thing on a spectrum indicates the distance of an object or whether or not it's moving away.

@@gr8withan8playz fantastic answer but you completely avoided the question. So using the parallax and angles how do we know what effects dark matter has on the readings if we dont know what it is or how things react to it. You know if dark matter supposedly makes up 85% of the universe. That's a very large % to not know anything about but still thing normal physics laws apply??
Now if it doesn't exist then science has no idea what holds galaxies together.
So you still haven't answered the question. Really because you cant. Neither can science or me. No one can because no one knows what dark matter is lol.
This means that the while giant 13.5 billion light year across universe could be very small. I cant prove it's small but science cant prove it's big. But what they did prove is that they have to make up some invisible stuff, that we cant test or measure, to allow the gravitational orbital mechanics that holds galaxies together to work.
Here is what wikipedia says about: Dark Matter - Dark matter is a form of matter that is thought to account for approximately 85% of the matter in the universe and about a quarter of its total energy density. The majority of dark matter is thought to be non-baryonic in nature, possibly being composed of some as-yet undiscovered subatomic particles.[note 1]Its presence is implied in a variety of astrophysical observations, including gravitational effects that cannot be explained by accepted theories of gravity unless more matter is present than can be seen. For this reason, most experts think dark matter to be abundant in the universe and to have had a strong influence on its structure and evolution. Dark matter is called dark because it does not appear to interact with observable electromagnetic radiation, such as light, and is thus invisible to the entire electromagnetic spectrum, making it extremely difficult to detect using usual astronomical equipment.

@@SirPoopDollar Propagation of an ElectromagneticWave. Electromagnetic waves are waves which can travel through the vacuum of outer space. ... Thepropagation of an electromagneticwave through a material medium occurs at a net speed which is less than 3.00 x 108 m/s.
So if this is true then how can we use light as a tool for measurement? How can anyone say with any certainty that things are light years away when we dont know everything that light traveled thru to get to us. Because space is a vacuum that's not empty, dark matter and all the other stuff science doesn't understand. And then once light has slowed down going thru these different mediums what is the force that speeds it back up to C? Wouldn't Newtons laws prevent using light as a measuring tool?

    Light does not travel.
"Speed of Light: How Does Light Travel?" No. light does not travel, only man made Hilly amplified signals from antennas travel.
if you create fire. It is local. If you turn on your light it is local. Light does not move.
Turn on torture, big beam of light it is local. The fact is it could be seen from distance. That means our eyes see objects/lights from/at their locations.
It is not a must for the light to be around your eyes. your eyes do not need light of objects reached them
The eyes see lights at their location( there is no scientific explanation for that as there is no scientific explanation for the motion of the sun and for the existence or creation of clouds).
What you must know is light does not travel. It just illuminates its area then diminishes.
If you want to prove that turn on a big beam, hang it over head. then detect it 1 meter away. you can't because it only illuminates the floor, does not go any where. That is why when you turn it of it is turned off from any where in the world/universe, if you like.
Therefore, there is no light speed.
