It is because you are always happy and excited to be in the garden and you act like we are there also. You make me feel like it is exciting and you enjoy it! @@jamesprigioni You should enroll Tuck in the Dog Aging Project. They do studies on dog healthspan and lifespan. Most of the participants are in an observational study to find out what lifestyle and environmental factors influence healthy aging. They also have a clinical trial on the effects of low dose rapamycin. It's interesting that the most common pastime of centenarians is gardening & a recent study found that gardening families have differences in their gut microbiomes compared to non-gardeners. It would be great to get more 'gardening dogs' in the DAP so more can be learned about the effects of gardening on health and lifespan.

I really love how James explains the mixing process; not taking some basic information for granted because not everyone always knows these things. I use this same Neem mixture and it SAVED my garden. I have a slight variation though, I use 100% organic peppermint castile soap (Dr. Bonners) instead of dishwashing liquid. Castile soap is non toxic and I read that peppermint is also a deterrent for ants. We spend money and time on our gardens and it is frustrating to step outside and find vegetables destroyed. It is an everyday fight to keep our gardens pest free without harmful chemicals, thanks for the tips!

Cedarcide (Western Red Cedar oil) is another great product, which I've been using for years to keep parasites off my dog, and also to kill mites - especially indoor grows. Mites are the bane of indoor cannabis farmers, but the non-thermal cedarcide fogger kills them in all the nooks and crannies. It can also be used to weatherproof wood, and I use it on my bare wood guitar necks, because it has a catalytic reaction that hardens the surface, protecting it. Thanks for the helpful video - your enthusiasm is contagious!

Planting neem trees around the boundary,( in case its a larger garden) do aid in pest control. Using crushed Neem leaves as compost tea(which was kept overnight in soaked condition) with some soap solution also helps. By the way, heard that eating a neem leaf everyday is good for controlling diabetes. I did a trial of using stripped out Neem green leaves as mulch, over the newspaper layer in my veggie garden and found that pest attack on my Okra was really less.

Best feeling ever producing your own food. Can't wait to have my property established like yours. It's coming together. But takes a while. I did lots of tree clearing, had a machine come level out alot of my property and move boulders. Tough to do all this work in the hills of nj

James, there is a book called "JADAM- ultra low organic agriculture" and in this book you can find recipes for homemade biodegradable organic pesticides. You can also find jadam lectures on you tube.

And while i have you is there a particular sprayer u use? The few i have tried always seen to break, clog etc. Thank you!!!!

Best to use Neem Oil at dusk after the honeybees stop foraging, never directly spray flowers. This is a dangerous pesticide for honey bees.
BT also works well against Gypsy Moth catepillars, use a burlap band on the truck of any trees you want to reduce them on, at night they come down and hide under the burlap which you spray along with your brassica's. This makes it easier to handle giant trees by using the caterpillar's natural habits against them.

If I run out of rainwater in my harvesting barrels, I put tap water in 5 gallon bucks n let em sit a few days. I’m crazy about water harvesting. I have kiddie pools throughout the property with water hyacinths that keep the frogs happy & reproducing 🐸

Yes.... exactly what I wanted to see... Pest Control. But James....what do you use on Powdery Mildew on squash plant? I used a water -4 cups /baking soda -1 tsp/ soap1 - tsp / oil - 1 tsp spray. Used it at sunset and it seemed to have burn the leaves? Some people say to spray milk? Can you use powder milk and get the same results? Do you have to add oil? I want to try to stay ahead of the problem.

Love the videos! Food for thought: I used to be a contributing writer for the FFA program and I had several interesting conversations with farmers about Bt.: both GMO Bt crops and its use as a pesticide spray. There are a lot of conflicting studies about its safety in both forms. I tend to play it safe and stay away from it because it seems like we don’t know enough about it. Thanks for sharing great content! 🤙

I bought an $8 stick blender to use in the garden and it works wonders emulsifying the Neem and the oily fish fertilizers with water.

I use Neem oil from the health section to brush my teeth and use it on many cuts and I put drops of it to repel insects from coming in and use it as a bug spray. Cured our kitty from a bad cut. She didnt eat or drink for a week. After I put in on the cut she got up and ate and drank. It is a medicine cabinate in one bottle.

Hi James! If you already covered this I apologize. With so much to cover have you thought of investing in a fogger machine to spray your concentrates? It will give you greater coverage and you will get it done so much quicker.

Your channel has been so helpful. I live in Washington State, and it seems our climates are similar.. That Tuck is like no other... He rocks! I also appreciate the good music you play. The Avett Bros make a heart glad. Their music was an unexpected gift. The first I've heard of them.. So to you I recommend a few songs by a band named LSU...Try "Blame" and "Grace"..there is some great cello with acoustic. Hope you listen, hope you enjoy. Thanks for your inspiration. I am starting my own Food Forest this year. Your guidance is gold!

    Thanks James, from NorthNJ.
I use the neem oil with azadirachtin because it breaks down in UV light in a short time. I move the mulch and let some get to the roots because it is systemic.
