මෙම ගීතය ආන්දෝලනාත්මක වුනා.ගැරහීමට ලක් වුනා. ඒ නිසාම බොහෝ අය මෙම ගීතය ගැන සොයා බැලුවා. නැවත නැවත ඇසුවා.මමත් ඇසුවා. කිහිප වරක් ඇසුවා.මෙම ගායිකාව අති දක්ෂ අන්තර්ජාතික මට්ටමේ ගායිකාවක් බවයි මට හැගුනේ.තරුණ ගායිකාවක් ලෙස පෙන්වන ලද හැකියාව දැන් බිහිවෙලා ඉන්න තරුපන්තියේ ගායිකාවන්ට වඩා ගව් ගනනක් ඉදිරියෙන් ඉන්න බව නම් නොකියාම බැහැ. විවෘත වේදිකාවක මැයගේ හඩ මෙපමන විශිෂ්ඨ නම් මෙම ගීතයම ශබ්දාගාරයක පටිගත කලා නම් කොපමණ විශිෂ්ඨ වන්නට ඉඩ තිබුනේද?ඔපෙරා ඌරුවට ගැයූ ගැයුම මම ඉහලින් අගයමි.ගල්මුල් එල්ලකල මාධ්‍ය ඔස්තාර්ලා නැතුවාට හොද ගීතයකට හොද සංගීතයකට අත්පොලසන් දෙන දහස් සංඛාවක් රසිකයන් ඉන්න බව මාධ්‍ය කරුවන්ද දත යුතුය.මාධ්‍යකරුවන් මාළුකරුවන් සේ කෑ නොගසා මෙම ගීතයට නැවතත් සවන් දුන හොත් ඔපෙරාවක අගය වුටහෙනු ඇත.ඔපෙරා හලෙක මෙම ගීතය ගැයුවා නම් ඔබට වැටෙන මල් මාලා නොවැටුනාට ලැබුණ ගල් මුල් අවලාද දිනෙක මල් මාලා වනු ඇත.එතෙක් දියණියෙනි නොනවත්වා ගී ගයන්න.

ලිඳ තුල සිටින ගෙම්බන් සඳහා කදිම පිලිතුරක්. ඔප්රාහ් සංගීතය වනාහී ලෝක පූජිත සංගීත කලාවකි. මැය ඇයගේ කුසලතාවය මොනවට කියාපාමින් ගීතය ගයන ලදී. මැයගේ සුසර ගායනය විවේචනය කරමින් අපගේ රට තුල සංගීත කලාව හා ඤාණය තවමත් ප්රාථමික බව පිලිබිඹු විය. මෙය සංගීත රසයේ ප්‍රශ්නයක් නොව හැම දෙයටම ගරහන කමේ ගැටලුවක්ද කියා මට සිතේ. මෙම ගායිකාවට ද්වේශ සහගතව බැනීමම උත්තරීතර බුදුදහමේ ඉගැන්වීම් වලට පටහැනිය. සෑම දෙයක්ම විනිවිද භාවකයින් යුක්තව බැලිය යුතුමය. මෙය කියවා, අවුරැදු 10 සිට පන්සලේ භක්ති ගීත ගැයූ මට බුදුගුන ගයනාකාරය කියාදෙන්න එන්න එපා කියාද පසක් කර දීමට කැමැත්තෙමි.

I really dont understand, what`s wrong with our people. This is one of the best versions of `Danno Budunge`, I have ever heard. I really love this one and also Sir. Amaradewa`s version. Two different versions and unique. Just ignore the corrupted ones, and go ahead! all the best

Kishani is the symbol of the values, the identity and spirit of Sri Lanka. By who she is and what she is doing, she is saying to al the children in Sri Lanka: "You are a star, and we, as a developing and independent country, we need your light. In order to shine, you need to find out who you are, where you're from and what you are talented in. To improve it requires courage and perseverance. Cross boarders, face new worlds, face differences and difficulties to find your inner light. Than, shine as a new and upcoming star and bring us joy and happiness". For all the rest of us, we need to honour and protect the treasure that is given to us. Be proud.
I can listen over and over to her rendition of one of my favourite pieces of music! It’s different,
but so powerfully sung , by a Sri Lankan!
I like this refreshing rendition of a much beloved song. Kudos to this lady for pulling it off in grand style. For most people opera may not be their cup of tea but at the very least you can commend her for having the courage to sing this on national TV. cheers!

This is brilliantly sung. Wonderful indeed! I can imagine the kind of practice and hard work that must have gone into preparing for this. Glad a song like this was chosen. I think the choice has brought this song to the attention of some people who may not have listened to the original version attentively before. I know more about the lyrics and the meaning of the song than I did before. Well done Kishani Jayasinghe for a great performance! Keep up the good work.

Good rendition. I feel sorry for the negative comments by a certain section of the public. Some have never heard opera in their life and simply feeling negative about it, Some are commenting that this song is sung with a feeling, in case you didn't know, opera is sung WITH feelings ! and some are just irritated because its simply a foreign form of art. What a bunch of jokers, this song was just simply sung in a different style, a respected style of singing throughout the world. This is not a freaking Kanye West remix, this is good quality singing !

I totally agree with you. Some people are just narrow minded and haven't got a broad scope of what's happening outside of Sri Lanka. Music is music... Person who sings a song can interpret their feelings in different ways. Music is a global language, and some people make it personal and try to make a scene out of it by overreacting. Before judging the singer people who have negative comments must first know this person and her talents (just watch Chathura's video of Derana channel). He mentions about the singer's talents and the song's origins. Specially when it is not sure of the ownership of the original melody how can someone argue about the change of style of the song? If someone don't like the song, just don't listen to it, don't criticise it coz there are people who have different opinions.

අනෙක දන්නෝ බුදුන්ගේ සින්දුව මොනවාට නිදහස් උළෙලේ ගායනා කෙරෙව්වාද කියල ගඩොල් භාගේ දේශප්‍රේමීන් දන්නේ නැත. හේතුව 1948 නිදහස් උත්සවයේදී ඩී.ඇස්. - බණ්ඩාරනායක ආණ්ඩුව දින කිහිපයක් සංස්කෘතික ප්‍රසංග පැවැත්වූ බවත්, එක් දිනක හියුබට් රාජපක්ෂ නම් වූ ඉතාලියේ පුහුණුව ලද ලාංකික ඔපෙරා ශිල්පියා ලව්වා දන්නෝ බුදුන්ගේ ගීතය ගායනා කරවූ බවත්, මේ දේශප්‍රේමීන් දන්නේ නැත. තිස්ස ද්වේන්ද්‍ර නම් වූ ජේ‍යෂ්ඨ සිවිල් සේවා නිලධාරියා පුවත්පතකට එය ලියා තිබුණේ පසුගිය අඟහරුවාදාය. දන්නෝ බුදුන්ගේ ගීතය බුදු ගුණ ගීතයක් නොව අනුරාධපුර නගරයේ වරුණ කියන ගීතයක් කියලාවත් මේ දේශප්‍රේමීන් දන්නේ නැත. මේ ගීතයෙන් වර්ණනා කරන්නේ අනුරාධපුර නගරයය. මේ ගීතය අඩංගු වන්නේ ජෝන් ද සිල්වා සූරීන්ගේ 'සිරිසඟබෝ' නාට්‍යයේය. සිරිසඟබෝ නාට්‍ය මහ වංසයෙන් සිරිසඟබෝ රජ්ජුරුවන්ගේ කතාවට අනුව සකස් වුණු නාට්‍යයකි. එම නාට්‍යයේ සංඝතිස්ස, සංඝබෝධි, ගෝඨාභය යන තුන් යහළුවන් අනුරාධපුරය බලා එද්දී පිටුපසින් මේ ගීතය ඇසෙයි. මොවුන් ලම්බකර්ණ වංශිකයන්ය.
මහියංගණයේ සිට පැමිණි ඔවුන් අනුරාධපුර රාජධානියට බැල්ම හෙළන්නේ හරියට රාජපක්ෂ පවුල වූ මහින්ද, බැසිල්, ගෝඨාභය ශ්‍රී ල.නි.ප.යට බැල්ම හෙළන ගානටය. සංඝතිස්ස, සංඝබෝධි, ගෝඨාභය තිසා වැව අසලින් යද්දී අන්ධ බ්‍රාහ්මණයෙක් ඔවුන්ගේ පා ශබ්දය විමසා මේ තිදෙනාම ලංකාවේ රජ වෙනවා යැයි කී බව මහාවංස කතාවේ සඳහන් වේ. ඔවුන් තිදෙනාගෙන් පසුපසින්ම ගොස් ඇත්තේ ගෝඨාභයය. ඔහු මඳක් නැවැතී අන්ධ බ්‍රාහ්මණයාගෙන් අසා ඇත්තේ ඔවුන් තිදෙනාගෙන් වැඩිම කලක් රාජ්‍ය පාලනය කරන්නේ කවුද කියාය. එවිට බ්‍රාහ්මණයා පවසා ඇත්තේ අන්තිමට යන කෙනාගේ රාජ වංසය වැඩි කල් පවතින බවය. තුන්දෙනාම අනුරාධපුරයට ගොස් එකල අනුරාධපුර රජ කළ විජයිදු රජුට පක්ෂව ඔහුට සේවය කළහ. වැඩි දවසක් යන්න පෙර තිදෙනා එක්වී විජයිදු රජු මරා තිදෙනාගෙන් වැඩිමහල් වන සංඝතිස්සව රජකමට පත් කර ගත්හ.
සංඝතිස්සටද වැඩිකල් රජකම් කරන්නට ලැබුණේ නැත. ඔහු අඹ කන්න ගොස් නැඟෙනහිර ජනතාවට කරදරයක් වී මැරුම් කෑවේ විස අඹ කෑමෙනි. ඉන් පසු රජ වන්නේ සිරිසඟබෝය. සිරිසඟබෝ ගෝඨාභයව භාණ්ඩාගාරය භාර ඇමැති කළේය. සිරිසඟබෝ දිනෙන් දිනම ජනප්‍රිය විය. ජනතාව ඔහුට කැමැති වූහ. මේ විදියට ගියොත් සිරිසඟබෝ මැරෙන තුරුම රට පාලනය කරයි යන බියෙන් ගෝඨාභය සිරිසඟබෝගෙන් රාජ්‍ය ගන්න සැලැසුම් කළේය. ගෝඨාභය සේනා සංවිධානය කොට එන විට බය වී සිරිසඟබෝ වනයට පැන ගියේය. සිරිසඟබෝගේ බෙල්ල ගේන ලෙස ගෝඨාභය නියෝග දුන්නේ මින් පසුවය.
දැන් ශ්‍රී ල.නි.ප.ය කඩාගෙන එහි නායකත්වයට පත්වීමට මහින්ද, බැසිල්, ගෝඨාභය අතරද ඇත්තේ එවැනිම පොරයකි. හිස දන් දෙන්න වෙන්නේ කාටද කියලා නම් තවම කියන්න බැරිය.
දේශප්‍රේමීන් මේවා දන්නේ නැත. හියුබට් රාජපක්ෂ කියා ඔපෙරා ශිල්පියකු හිටියාද කියලා දන්නේවත් නැත. ඔහු ඔපෙරා ශෛලියෙන් දන්නෝ බුදුන්ගේ පමණක් නොව තවත් ජන ගීත ගායනා කළ බව ප්‍රවීණ සිනමාවේදී තිස්ස අබේසේකර 2003 මැයි 25 'දි අයිලන්ඩ්' පුවත්පතට ලියා ඇත. ඔහු ලන්ඩනයේ විග්මෝර් ශාලාවේදී ඔපෙරා ශෛලියෙන් සිංහල ජන ගීත ගැයූ බවත්, එම ශාලාවේ ලෙස්ටර් ජේම්ස් පීරිස්ද සිටි බවත් එහි ලියා ඇත. හියුබට් රාජපක්ෂ ගයපු දන්නෝ බුදුන්ගේ ගීතය තැටියකට නැඟුවේ එකල කාර්ගිල්ස් සමාගමය.

All music started at stone age and developed. And you may see opera songs are for operas. Therefore if this woman sings a song of herself or a more suitable song for her voice, which is very high pitched, she would have not hear all these criticisms. And turning everything old (a Noorthi sang by Hubert Rajapaksha and written by John De Silva and music composed by Vishvanath Lowgi) in to western, thinking making it modern is not so beautiful. And is this performer who had being said to be performed in presence of Queen Elizabeth, is she sang this song before her to be so acclaimed? Surely not. Cause the music of this song and the instruments used are not suitable for an opera.

Skill and talent is two different thing!!! You may be talented at singing in opera style, but if you can't select a song matching to show your skill I cannot say you are Skilled! For many people have talents all over the world but who are skilled at a specific thing has the future to go beyond!! If you cannot recognize a talent and develop a talent to a skill, there is no meaning of doing your thing.
As a fact in here, to a cultural song that has extraordinary tune and a vocal mastering Ms. Krishani Jayasinghe should have known that adding her style to this particular song would not be for the best!! Very beautiful voiice , the opening accompanied only by the piano was powerful and expressive. The second part accompanied by the percussion was a little lacking in the percussive arragement but still aded the folk element to the song. I thnk Khemadasa would love the singers voice and I wonder if she was trained by him r where her training took place. I love traditional Sri Lankan singing and melodies but this is also beautifully presented. Indeed a very talented lady, She has certainly done justice to Opera style of singing but i am not too sure if this was appropriate for an audience at Galle Face green in Colombo.
What a beautiful rendition of this wonderful song. Sung with so much emotion and feeling. Its quite amazing and extremely difficult to understand how people have misunderstood its intentions and felt insulted by the operatic interpretation of this song. One can only put it down to lack of exposure and shallow mindedness.
