Not really underrated. I remember being floored by the bass play the first time I heard Nevermind. He is kind of like the Phil Rudd in bass playing. Simple, steady and to the point. Most bass players I know holds Krist as one of their favorites when it comes to the playing. But he was a goof ball. A complete nerd so his personality, although he was funny, was over the top and ruined the image as a great musician.

Wow, I thank God, I jumped the fence in November @ Bayfront Park in MiaMi in 93". I had a gut feeling that he wasn't going to come back & this was my only chance at seeing him live. Earlier in the day I was waiting for the elevator. And low & behold him & Courtney got in the same elevator w Frances. He was carrying her. Courtney was yelling at him and I remember turning around & feeling very uncomfortable. She was being a c..., see I was working in Sam Goody's at the time. I only worked four hours that day because I wanted to go to the show even though I didn't have tickets. If you watch the Live video from Bayfront Park on here I accidently bought Benson & Hedges Ultra lightsv100's that day and gave him one up in the front. At the end of the show Coutney made an appearance again , Kurt was busy destroying the stage & she went up there w Frances & took him off the stage. Sad. That's why I think she must have given Vicky Cornell advice on how to get rid of Chris. May they both eternally rest in peace forevermore.:(.

I know it was very short lived (couple weeks) but PJ opened for Nirvana n Red Hots end of 91. There’s a New Year’s Eve show at Cow palace of Pearl Jam’s set on UA-cam n it’s utterly insane for an opening act. They even play about 10 sec of teen spirit Cus they joked they knew that’s what everyone was there to hear.
That said they did also tour with Smashing Pumpkins and Red Hot Chili Peppers..pretty amazing and yet frustrating when you realize you missed iconic shows that will forever be stuff of legend.
Crazy cus years later I meet friends who were at these concerts but didn’t care to watch anyone but RHCP , 🤦‍♂️ .

It’s just before they became huge! And Nevermind was just released!
1991 in Amsterdam when they were touring Europe and European audiences were starting to get bigger and bigger and it was like a phenomenon before everyone’s eyes. They’re still hungry and fresh and not jaded or bored yet! This is a Killer show! I’m glad it was recorded for posterity so that future generations can see the power of the mighty Nirvana at their peak! RIP

Went to their final show in Toronto in Nobember, 1993 at Maple Leaf Gardens and it seemed like Kurt was pretty much fed up with doing live shows. Drank too many beers and puffed too much right behind the Gardens before they came on, so my memories of that gig are cloudy and murky at best. :)

This was the last best time of his life. Late 1991. Starting dating Courtney, falling in love, being in Amsterdam, having classic Heroin month. We could see his drive and pure dopeness during his playing / singing.
Since 1992 his life will be sadder and sadder from his wedding with Courtney in March 1992 and their honeymoon.
And since 1992 live shows his presence on stage does not look so brightful and so internal powerfully like before (except a couple of MTV shows )
I doubt that the Christmas 1991 was his best Christmas of his life.
1990 is the second because of his Olympia homeland.

I've been revisiting Nirvana videos lately and trying to really let it sink in as to why this band was so special. And specifically why they were so special to me. They were heavy af. But there was a sincerity to their music, not looking to dig deeper into the hole, like AIC, but desperately trying to look out. Kurt knew how deep it could go. Their power to stand against racism and misogyny even 30 years ago meant so much to me. This was more than a band, it was a momentum. It was a changing of the guard. We're all better for it even if shit has gotten harder. It's a helluva a ride. I was 9 years old when "Nevermind" came out, but I didn't hear them til I was 11. My parents listened only to the classics, so with no older siblings or anything that's all I listened to. The first Nirvana song I heard was "Lithium." I remember writing down the lyrics so I could call the radio station and ask who the hell that was. I had never heard anything like it. RIP Kurt.

Anne van Lith but he was just pointing out that he did it purposefully, you’re the one being an intellectual snob trying to analyse Kurts talent

I think he was becoming disillusioned at this point and really didn't care. It's kind of sad, but I also get it. Playing the same thing every night gets old, especially as your audience grows in both numbers and diversity (i.e. mainstream "jock" types who are now your listeners and concert attendees). That's just my take...

Yeah he didn't want to fuck around tuning his guitar for too long so he just played and sang out of tune for the fuck of it because that was what Nirvana was all about, just jamming and punk rock/sub pop.

    Rest in Peace, Kurt Cobain.
