Best case scenario to get most teams in the playoffs and be ranked as high as possible is for Oregon and Penn St to stay undefeated until the championship game and Oregon to win it. It would best for Indiana to lose to Ohio St, that way you have 13-0 Oregon, 12-1 Penn St, 11-1 Indiana and 10-2 Ohio St, that is about the only way to get four teams in the playoffs.
Indiana may not be playing highly ranked teams but to blow out Nebraska then to have Nebraska push Ohio State the way they did looks really good, and I am an Oregon fan!
So Indiana beat Nebraska 56-7 Ohio State beat Nebraska 21-17 So why do you assume Indiana will automatically lose to Ohio State. Indiana has the possibility of finishing 12-0 overall, 9-0 in conference. It’s possible, probable…probably not. But Nebraska almost beat Ohio State at the Horseshoe. So Indiana at least deserves to be in the conversation of a possible appearance in the B1G Championship.
Because he didn't assume that. This video is simply a fun what-if about a specific scenario in which the Big Ten lands four teams in the playoff. Did you miss that part? Look at the title of the video if you don't believe me.
@louisbrooks8824 This feels like the season it could happen. That would put Oregon, Indy and Penn in the playoffs leaving OSU out 😂 I hope it happens with all the talk OSU has been.
Before the season, I thought that best case scenario for Oregon would be playing PSU in the conference championship game and winning it. Wins over the big 3 in the Big Ten in our first year on the way to a national championship.
Indiana 12-0, Oregon 12-0, Penn State 11-1, Ohio State 10-2 would be another great scenario for the league. It's basically swapping Penn State and Indiana. The seeding would be similar most likely. I just think that PSU can be more competitive in a Big Ten title game with Oregon than IU can, but I'm not gonna lie, seeing Lucas Oil decked out in Cream & Crimson with the Ducks coming in there would be an awesome setting.
Great stuff Ted - love these hypotheticals, but there's a lot of football to be played before Indy...I know Dan wants the Ducks to focus on the process and try and go 1-0 for the week - Oregon's got a tough test this Saturday at the Big House against a hard nosed Michigan squad that's always dangerous at home...again great stuff - Go Ducks!
A lot of What if's going on until the end of the reg. season. What if The Washignton State Cougars make a run to be in the CFP? How that would effect everything would be interesting.
I agree Ted. Indiana needs to go 11-1, meaning they need to beat Ohio State and win the rest to be in conversation. Ohio State will make it because of resume with 10-2. For sure Oregon and Penn State are already in regardless of the outcome of the game in the CCG.
It’s very hypothetical. but say, Oregon, Penn State, and Indiana are all 12-0. what do you have as the Big Ten championship game and the rankings for the CFP
Championship Game would depend on tiebreakers. I believe IU would be on the outside looking in, I'd have to double check. CFP wise, I think 1,5,7 in that scenario. They'd probably put SEC runner up at 6, depending who it is. But having an undefeated Indiana with a win at Ohio State would be hard to deny at 6.
@@BigTenTed based off current tiebreakers for the conference you would skip to #4 in the conference rules which is just broken down by cumulative conference win percentage of all conference opponents. To most easily predict this you would remove all common conference opponents as those teams are all equally effecting the three teams and just tabulate the records of the rest of the opponents. Indiana: Northwestern, Nebraska, Michigan State, Michigan (8-12) Penn State: Illinois, USC, Wisconsin, Minnesota (11-10) Oregon: Michigan state, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin (11-9) it's all pretty close so the question can be how do some of these team's finish and how do some of the head to heads finish in here as well. For example, if Nebraska Finishes well that bodes well for Indiana, as Nebraska plays two teams in the PSU column (USC & Wisconsin). MSU VS Illinois doesn't affect Oregon who has both teams, but again can affect PSU and Indy. What is looking like a 1-8 team at northwestern may end up being the downfall for Indiana though.
@@Shany64 Very well put. I could honestly seeing these 3 teams go undefeated so it'll be interesting to see unfold. I see it being Oregon and Penn with Indy being left out but still grabbing a playoff spot over the likes of ND/Tenn/Clemson or Miami.
@@philclark8681 That’s right. 1st Penn State will beat them and then IU will beat them. The o line has big problems, the running game is anemic, and the corners are not playing as expected. Oh and Day chokes in big games. That’s not me saying it. That’s your own podcasters saying it
The ceiling for the B1G is 3 teams because the SEC is demanding 5 playoff teams and I think the committee will give into that unreasonable and ridiculous demand despite the fact that the SEC is mediocre at best this year. It's a travesty, but the SEC bias is strong.
A very realistic possibility is that Ohio State runs the table all the way into Indianapolis and then comes away the Conference champ. That’s scenario seems more likely than the one that was just laid out.
