Gazza may be the most iconic in England, but I'm not sure he's even close to as iconic worldwide as Beckham and Rooney. Most people outside of England (and maybe Rome) don't even know who he is.
I need to address something, when Gazza left spurs in 92, there was a total of 13 foreign players in the prem. If that was the case today, foden would be looked at like a god!

It's honestly kind of refreshing to listen to people give Michael Owen some praise. I'm with these guys - I remember being a kid and being f*cking obsessed with him! Everyone just wanted to be him. He was on a different planet to everyone in the first half of his career.
In terms of influence we can't forget every middle aged man got a sleeve of tats like Beckham with the same hair he inspired a generation of women's type

This really shows what a piss take England is. Our moments a daft fk against Greece, France, Brazil, Spain, Germany, Argentina just blow us out the water. Even of recent Greece winning the euros one of the greatest underdog stories in football. We over hype England like crazy.

Not a mention for Sir Geoffrey Hurst, who was the first football player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final, and remains to this day the only (male) football player to score a World Cup final hat-trick without penalties (let alone two)? Not even the obvious mention of Sir Bobby Moore who, besides being the captain of that World Cup winning squad, also has perhaps the most iconic photo/moment of English football history in that image of him lifting the Jules Rimet trophy? Shame that the memory of that generation is fading - they were a global force, before and after the Munich disaster.

Define what you mean by iconic. Icon doesn’t mean best. An icon generally refers to someone being by venerated, and there is no other figure that comes close to Beckham in world football, let alone English football.
