this game i will never forget this game. to others it may fade into obscurity but for me i will always remember the boy who gave everything to save his friend.
I know this seems primitive now as far as video games is concerned, but keep in mind this was when the internet was still young and MMO's were still kinda niche. Dot Hack was a niche anime in North America, I was a dumb kid in Middle School and I had to beg my parents to buy me the next chapter to this series. I spent countless hours data hacking to get to the end, so when I did, it was way worth it.
Hands down one of my favorite games of all time. It left an emotional resonance and im not even slightly ashamed to say i kept auras theme as well as the ending themes in various mp3 players for the last few decades. And they have never felt old.
The biggest problem of this game that prevent it from newer remaster is the outdated combat system. .hack// revival really depend on how they remake the combat system instead of sticking to the old system. One of the draws of .hack// is how it plays the way MMORPG at that time plays. Which is why G.U had quite different gameplay from the original, it was a reflection of what MMORPG suppose to be at that time. MMORPG today is had much more complexity of gameplay than in 2002. Unless developer finally understand this, .hack// will never draw newcomers to the series even with a remaster.
True! It was a very basic system, but it was also pretty fun, regardless. For me, the combat wasn't as big of an issue as just running around the big repetitive maps looking for the occasional enemy spawn in wasn't super exciting.
....back when I was younger, I loved watching Kite's final assualt on Corbinek, Im watching now and thinking, "Why the f*** didnt everbody else have the same common sense Kite had?" o_e
Spoiler Alert: He doesn't become Tri-Edge. Aura creates guardians using the images/avatars of the dot hackers to protect The World. Azure Kite is one of these AI guardians who users begin to assume is Tri-Edge.
Aura was an AI who must copy and understand the emotions…when she created Azure Kite/Balmug/Orca she forgot Kite’s original emotions so Azire kite seems a zombie for the lack of database And the ‘machine’ which must copy the emotion was Skeith, but I’ve never understood why it got mad sending everyone in hospital

At around the 2:00, I would have loved to have a 1v1 against the final boss, with no allies. It personally would have made their deaths more meaningful to me as a video gamer instead of just another cutscene. Although I admit, the battle would have been more difficult.
When I was in High School and had finally gotten a PS2, .hack// was my first major JRPG outside of Final Fantasy IV. Even for the simplistic gameplay of the time, the story is what kept me invested and the characters... oh my lord, the characters. I still have all 4 games that I saved up for myself and hope it eventually gets the remastered treatment G.U. did.
The gameplay wasn't the greatest, but IMOQ is criminally underrated. The lore, story, characters...so good. .hack remains one of the best franchises ever.
I played the game using an emulator since I my old PS3 died (lost backwards compatibility). With the emulator, I was able to use anti-aliasing and the various other features, like quadrupling texture quality.
@@blanktintin that is... not how this works buddy, what the poster meant by using anti aliasing and whatnot are from emulator on the PC, so even if he played it on the PS5 (if they ever made it compatible, which is very unlikely) it wouldn't change
These four games are absolutely the best games I've ever played in my entire life. If you can ever play these games I wholeheartedly believe you should do it and you will understand what I mean 🙏🏼❤️
I honestly wish we could have a remaster of this game. I know it'll never happen, but I wish we could finally have a chance to relive these beautiful characters and story one more time in the modern age instead of shilling out hundred for old copies
It took a bit of effort and, to be fair, they were monotonous as hell, but it had this charm and rhythm to it that I managed to grind through. The main boss fights, however, really did require a good level advantage, item preparation, etc.
@@Kinyin Oh, I absolutely loved them. I spend more hours than I care to think about grinding in Infection in anticipation of Mutation. Same thing. I had to adjust the settings occasionally for each video sequence, so it took some time, though for the most part I am able to play with high settings.
Yeah I'm feeling you, same problem I had back then. I played the first two, but back then I couldn't afford the other two. I'm currently playing G.U. and just seeing Kite in it makes me wanna play the first ones again. I hope they do a remaster for the PS4

Right lol he made it look easy
Such a great scene, glad i picked this series up. easily a must play if you can find them all that is.
And that’s why emulation can be a great thing. So we can experience great stories like this!
Every copy of quarantine I find is like $150 or more.
And thus was the Wave defeated. And with it's end, Rebirth.
When i was a kid I am glad i pick the whole volume up. I miss Electronic Boutique.
I sobbed... Ill admit it when I first played
