I've lived in Jonesborough Tennessee my entire life until I moved to Virginia 7 years ago..my heart will always live there and I hope to move back one day....
I am kin to all of the jones families from northeast tennessee. My mom's dad Joseph Lester Jones was born in 1916 and grew up between jonesborough and fall branch. He kept the cemetery burial plot books for the fairview cemetery located beside the fairview methodist church. So grandpa knew a whole lot of families from washington County area around jonesborough and johnson city,tn.
@@harolddenton6031 I think I know the Jones family you're talking about ..my first love LOL if you can have a love at 6 years old was Randy Jones.. his dad was a big construction person / maybe real estate development I think his name was Harold Jones but the Jones are a good reputable family and I used to go to Fair Haven Methodist Church off the old Jonesborough highway 😀
Because of your video we're planning a stopover at historic Jonesborough this Spring on our way from visiting family in the Blue Ridge to a restful mini-vacation in Maggie Valley NC. God bless✝️.
We lived there for 7+ years, seven years ago. My heart is there, beautyful place with the most beautyful people. May The Lord bless every body there !!!
I live in Erwin TN about 18 miles from Jonesborough. We are rich with history in this area. Davy Crockets Birth plalce and Crocket tavern is just south of Jonesborough maybe 20 miles. Sycamore Schoals in Elizabethton is where the over tne mountain men gathered and met the british on kings mountain and drove them back to the Ocean a major win for us in the Revolutionary war.

Prettiest lady in town. You are 1 lucky dude. Thanks for yalls videos, do enjoy watching them. Catching up on the ones I haven't seen yet. On a side note, I live 5 minutes from Jonesboro, Georgia. The title of this video caught my attention because of that. Lol
Hi @Mountain Solitude! It's a great place to visit for some rich history, food and story telling. We had a blast! Thank you for watching and commenting. Mike & Karen
I wish I would have found your channel in late April!! I would have loved to visit this town (I went to Greenville). Thanks for a wonderful tour of this town! I am taking my dad back to the Smokies in late August & we will hit this town. Appreciate your videos!
Thank you so much for sharing. Tennessee has a lot to offer that most people don't know about. It's a beautiful state! I hope to get there one of these days.
What a nice video! I live in Jonesborough and all the buildings are authentic and original from 1700 to 1800s, except the Storytelling building, which was built in 2002, I believe. It was designed to look like the other buildings and look authentic. There was a huge debate at the time because people didn't want a modern looking building to change the look of the town.
Several of my jibes cousins live just west of jonesborough in the fairview community. I also have some Denton 1 st cousins who live off of cherokee road just over behind etsu campus. I mivescway in 1988. Don't know what I was thinking leaving beautiful northeast Tennessee. Almost time fir me to leave richmond,va after havingbkived in big city for past 33 years. Time to move back to tge slower paced lifestyle in the tri cities. My dad still lives in Mount carmel,tn but I prefer the gray or jonesborough areas.
I know a guy that would fit into that town like a Glove on your hand, you're talking about story telling, He has retired out of every branch of the Military, He invented the Helicopter, He was the first person to fly a jet airplane, He plants his potatoes on a hill one end at the foot of the hill the other end at the top of the hill where all he has to do is dig a hole at the foot of the Hill and all of the potatoes roll out. But sadly his stories doesn't hold any truth whatsoever, LOL Everyone usually tried to guess what fibs would be his next, he always surprised us and his stories were interesting. This will be a great Vacation place to visit, Thank you 👍💖💖

Right beside the courthouse and that little old time fire hall was the coolest western auto hardware store. When I was a very young boy in the 1960's and 1970's. My grandpa lester jones use to trade with them buying things for his vehicles and old 1940's Ford tractor. Man I miss the days of small town living. Now a days big corporate stores have destroyed small town hardware stores.
Thank you for this video. I always wondered what Jonesborough looked like. I've seen the live railroad feed they have here on UA-cam now I know the rest. 😊
My jones families were some of the first settlers of northeast Tennessee by the 1770's. Both of my mom's parents have jones lines and my dad's grandmother was a Julia jones from hendersonville,nc. I went to kindergarten in 1969 at the church in the background at the very beginning of this video.
@@FridaysForever it was an even sleeper little town back in 1960's and 1970's when I was a much younger toddler through my teenager years.
