This is SO GOOD, I can't even understand how much.... Everything is gone, this is the blues, with no performance, just the truth in a song, drifting alone, through space and time, from Bob and Woody, to us
Boy, I sure do envy you! I'll bet it's gonna be a good time. You should leave a comment & let us all know how good he was & what were some of the songs he performed.
I got into all the old folk artists while listening to " a song to woody" off Dylan's first album. I must say this version hits much closer to the heart,it has much more feeling then Guthrie's. He was a blessed man to be able to meet his idol and it created one of the best musicians of our time.
Im a Big Fan of Bob Dylan, people trip out how i listen to Bob Dylan,i know what music captures me and no matter how old i get i will still listen to his music. This is great stuff by Bob that i never heard before.
I lived in the central valley for 5 years, for all its current problems, I still remember my time there fondly. There's still shade of old world in many towns there and a sense of gratitude in the community. I've moved to the bay area now, and it's not where my heart is at..
Its a mighty rough row my poor hands have hoed My poor feets have travelled a hot dusty road Out of your dustbowl and westward we rolled And your deserts were hot and your mountains were cold California, Arizona, make all your crops And north upto oregon to gather your hops Dig the beets from your ground, pull the grapes from your vine To set on your table that light sparkling wine Well I slept on the ground in the light of your moon And worked in your orchards of peaches and prunes Wherever your crops are I'll lend you my hand I'LL ramble all over your green growing land Green pastures of plenty from dry desert ground From the grand coulee dam where the waters run down Every state in this union us migrants have been We'll work in there fight and we'll fight till we win Well its always we rambled that river and I I'll wander the valley till the day that I die On the edge of your cities you'll see us and then We come with the dust and we'll be gone with the wind Green pastures of plenty from dry desert ground From the grand coulee dam where the waters run down This land I'll defend with my life if it be Cause my pastures of plenty must always be free
I am the one person who listened to Bob Dylon since I was teenager now I am 36 years old , English is my second language I went deeply with Dylan songs the have strong meaningful words and expressing I feel sorry for unlucky friend who didn`t care for songs of him I had suggested ! they missed a lot
Always something new...thats great. Bob is the gift that keeps on giving, even from the past. Prolific doesnt even come close to describing his briilliance.
When he told me his name in the Cafe Figaro or that other coffee house on MacDougal St. around 1962, or maybe a little later, I talked to him about Dylan Thomas who drank himself to death at the White Horse tavern a few blocks away about ten years earlier. of course I had no idea he was gonna be like the icon of the entire epoch. Or at least I think it was him. Who else had a last name of Dylan, spelled with a Y?
a friend of a friend saaw him in liverpool the other week . said he was amazing still ... i,m still jealous xxx i was in liverpool the same week and didnt know he was there ... gutted
I love Dylan in the 60s! Alas! He has never ever mentioned Woody Guthrie that I know of for many many long years. The apprentice has forgotten his Master. Alas! One should never ever forget his master.
English is also my second language and I listened to Dylan since his first hits in the 60s-- I was 13 yrs old and STILL listening to him. Have you heard his Bootleg Tapes?
It's a mighty hard row that my poor hands have hoed My poor feet have traveled a hot dusty road Out of your Dust Bowl and Westward we rolled
And your deserts were hot and your mountains were cold
I worked in your orchards of peaches and prunes I slept on the ground in the light of the moon On the edge of the city you'll see us and then We come with the dust and we go with the wind California, Arizona, I harvest your crops Well its North up to Oregon to gather your hops Dig the beets from your ground, cut the grapes from your vine To set on your table your light sparkling wine Green pastures of plenty from dry desert ground From the Grand Coulee Dam where the waters run down Every state in the Union us migrants have been We'll work in this fight and we'll fight till we win It's always we rambled, that river and I All along your green valley, I will work till I die My land I'll defend with my life if it be Cause my pastures of plenty must always be free
SO many grand photographs to see when the music plays.. So many long hours when the nights then turn into days.. 2:38 is great. 'Cos it ain't been seen as Late, 2:38 is the whole picture 📸
It would be nice if the initial credits noted that this is a 'cover' of Woody. Dylan often 'covered' without pointing out the author of the original work (consider 'The City of New Orleans', for example).
This land is of God and the men in his image so we plow this great land till the last of us fall. Don't mind working hard if it means the crop that I've sown will soon taste the wind. Before I go I tell you so... That the meaning of life is to never grow old.
Die Schule des Glücks I think this is Gaslight Tapes 1961. Recorded at Gaslight Cafe NYC 1961 (The First Gaslight, The Second gaslight, The Third gaslight...) Maybe you can't find more on Wiki. I think this record is collector.
i got myself the minneapolis record but this record of course has its town miracle and secret. I just wonderes wether I could get exactly the version I heard here. The nyc gaslight record was to my opinion less sparkling in regard to sound quality (allthough I dont question it as a document, or the concert or the purpose behind it)
@Bob Dylan your invented postmodern god$$ of course! After all God will is a mistery anyway, also if shoul be e beliver I should accept this world in all its contradictions.
long time Dylanite here and I never even heard of this song. Where could I find the best version? I'm getting more basement tapes soon so I'm hoping it'll be on that.
to cut the greed but to keep the needs and I am free to walk this land land i know you do care so why are you asking me in a song to come back. There must be somethink you lack
Thanks for info ;-) I got the Minneapolis Party Tape!! There is a version on there which is like the same but different if you know what I mean lol and that was recorded in Bonnie Beechers apartment
Bob takes us to the dimension where spirit can not be tired, trails of unknown poets greetings to all those whom love and respect bob.
I was here 2023...all due RESPECT to our Mr Dylan.🎶🎵🎶Union sundown!.... Shalom to all. ⏳....🌎...
This is SO GOOD, I can't even understand how much.... Everything is gone, this is the blues, with no performance, just the truth in a song, drifting alone, through space and time, from Bob and Woody, to us
beautiful comment. I really feel it
The apprentice's hommage to his master.
"Here’s to the hearts and the hands of the men
That come with the dust and are gone with the wind"
Extraordinary cut from The Master. So young, yet so much age and wisdom and heart in his voice.
Calm down......get a grip on yourself!!
i love hearing new stuff from him. i've been a fan for 25 yrs, meaning listening to all of the obscure hidden stuff. his music fills that empty spot
Gonna see him live on the 26th!
Boy, I sure do envy you! I'll bet it's gonna be a good time. You should leave a comment & let us all know how good he was & what were some of the songs he performed.

Im a Big Fan of Bob Dylan, people trip out how i listen to Bob Dylan,i know what music captures me and no matter how old i get i will still listen to his music. This is great stuff by Bob that i never heard before.
I could not have put it better myself...
Beautiful pics of Bob. Always moving when he sings Woody
It is the first time I have heard that ! really great :
"Nobody sings Dylan like Dylan" ... but Dylan can sing anything else very well
but it wasn't written by Dylan, it's a Woody Guthrie song
@@HannahAbira thanks sherlock
i can sing like dylan especially desolation row.
and like a rolling stone
Danke DANKE
This and Woody's song just hit me like a ton of bricks. Wow. Good!
Dylan singing one of his idol's songs, which happens to be my favorite Woody Guthrie song.
Terrific cover of the Woody Guthrie classic!!
Great Singing. Only he can sing like this. I just love his singing style.
I agree with you; his voice gives the song its due emotion.
Yeah, and I don"t want any buffoons to say that BD can"t sing.
I'd love for you to hear union stations version of the song
Wow, how Colorful 🔙 in the day. Young 🌱 & Fresh! With all due RESPECT..🎶🎵🎶..👌

He played true to himself all the way.
Its a mighty rough row my poor hands have hoed
My poor feets have travelled a hot dusty road
Out of your dustbowl and westward we rolled
And your deserts were hot and your mountains were cold
California, Arizona, make all your crops
And north upto oregon to gather your hops
Dig the beets from your ground, pull the grapes from your vine
To set on your table that light sparkling wine
Well I slept on the ground in the light of your moon
And worked in your orchards of peaches and prunes
Wherever your crops are I'll lend you my hand
I'LL ramble all over your green growing land
Green pastures of plenty from dry desert ground
From the grand coulee dam where the waters run down
Every state in this union us migrants have been
We'll work in there fight and we'll fight till we win
Well its always we rambled that river and
I
I'll wander the valley till the day that I die
On the edge of your cities you'll see us and then
We come with the dust and we'll be gone with the wind
Green pastures of plenty from dry desert ground
From the grand coulee dam where the waters run down
This land I'll defend with my life if it be
Cause my pastures of plenty must always be free
To the Okies of the San Joaquin Valley

Super. Hard not to think that this song might have inspired 'Blowing in the Wind'.
absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bob and woody are true American heroes
What wouldn't I give to hear and see this live in New York in 1961.
The Feenjon was just around the corner. I was acquainted with Fred Neil and went to see him often.
Great memories for you.

a friend of a friend saaw him in liverpool the other week . said he was amazing still ... i,m still jealous xxx i was in liverpool the same week and didnt know he was there ... gutted
Bob Dylan is like the Raven. Forever bold and thoughtful
my poet
the city was back in the old days a long time ago when he was playing with the band Bob Dylan and the band back in the seventies
my heart is mind and allways
I love Dylan in the 60s! Alas! He has never ever mentioned Woody Guthrie that I know of for many many long years. The apprentice has forgotten his Master. Alas! One should never ever forget his master.
He didn’t forget he’s just said all he has to say.
Fantastico genio della musica

Bom demais
Could there ever be a more genuine interpretation of any song?
Bob heard this early on.
And he performed it like this
same with myself. may god bless you. regards from germany
Saw a Joan Baez Doc. where she said there were nights if Bob had had enough to drink he would only answer to Woody.
Fifteen "experts" did not like the song. MAYBE THEY CAN WRITE BETTER THEN WOODY.
experts are the plague of this century.
they are everywhere and it`s hard to get rid of them.
That is why I wrote"experts"
what a fuckin genius. best rendition ever of this great socialist american song
Fucking great song
thank you Skinupfast
big trip with a master!

This land is of God and the men in his image so we plow this great land till the last of us fall.

Die Schule des Glücks I think this is Gaslight Tapes 1961. Recorded at Gaslight Cafe NYC 1961 (The First Gaslight, The Second gaslight, The Third gaslight...) Maybe you can't find more on Wiki. I think this record is collector.

Does anyone have any idea where I can get this bootleg? I can't find 'the gaslight tapes' anywhere!
Joy❤
nobody sings woody like Dylan, same as nobody sings the blues like blind bill mac tell .lol out load.

Every time I hear DYlan, that voice, I think to a mystery question "why he chose to become a singer.."
Thank God for that
@Bob Dylan your invented postmodern god$$ of course! After all God will is a mistery anyway, also if shoul be e beliver I should accept this world in all its contradictions.
I love you.
Listening to this on, "Day Without Immigrants."
You're the one person who listened to Bob DylAn since you were a teenager?

Get it while you still can...
long time Dylanite here and I never even heard of this song. Where could I find the best version? I'm getting more basement tapes soon so I'm hoping it'll be on that.
i would say that this particular version is actually the best version of any song ever.
Sounds like a nother great tune dylan sang called "man on the street"
Would you be able to upload more of the Karen Wallace Tape 1960 plspls

that what i think about england
does anyone know the chords he uses here?
unsurpassable.
I salute Bob for attempting this great Okie anthem but for me it can't touch Woody Guthrie's original version.
Then gtfo we don’t want you here
to cut the greed but to keep the needs and I am free to walk this land land i know you do care so why are you asking me in a song to come back. There must be somethink you lack
